  1. Butterscotch Sire D5 @ Thomann - £369 Butterscotch Sire D5 @ Andertons - £529 That's a bit more than my definition of "a few extra quid", so I'll be taking my chances with the international trade. And yes, it's been a monumental PITA so far as I have been documenting - but at least the muck ups thus far haven't been Thomann's fault. Honestly, apart from the ache of not having my shiny thing yet, it doesn't affect me in any other way - it's not like I don't have a bass to play in the meantime... Plus I'm Scottish... paying more than I strictly have to just doesn't compute!
  2. Leave the door ajar and I'll come bounding through! You know how it works
  3. Yes, I will go on a date with your Encore bass, I'm pretty general. Oh wait, that's generic. Oh well. In all seriousness though, the more important information would be - what currency is that? I would be amazed if anyone could tell you how old that bass is from that single photo, and to be honest I don't think it's that important. Regardless of when it was made, that particular bass will either be good or bad and the only way to tell is to get up close and personal with it. You won't be able to tell if it's good or bad based upon when it was made...
  4. Eh, don't over analyse it - I used to have a G&L Tribute L-2000 which I modified to give 27 different switch combinations (pickup select, series/single/parallel, passive/active/active with treble boost) plus 2 band passive EQ. Found one combo of settings I liked (both pickups, single (inner coils), passive) and left all the knobs at 10 for practically the whole time I owned it!
  5. Turns out that CNC machines in China and Indonesia work in exactly the same way as CNC machines do in Mexico and the USA!
  6. I'm not anti-slap AND I can't do it. Do I win a prize?
  7. I had this exact model of Dymo when I was a kid...
  8. If the stock ones are satisfactory, those. If not then I'm pretty omnivorous - Gotoh, Hipshot, Schaller, Wilkinson, Grover - whatever fits in the hole with the appropriate style of button.
  9. Back then that would have likely been old school impact Dymo too. Mmm, tactile... Edit: just beaten to it!
  10. You have absolutely no idea what a "Dymo" is, do you?
  11. It's about efficiency - all that time typing that extra 'e' could have been spent drinking whisky...
  12. Oh, I get it. I go to the BBC News website to read news. It irritates me when I see something that looks interesting and it turns out to be a Sounds podcast. Back button pressed almost instantly.
  13. I assure you it's good natured rib tickling. The only thing I'm projecting is an attempt at humour. You can't win 'em all
  14. So, your day hasn't improved then? That sucks. I know what tags are for, it's your liberal pebbledashing of the topic with them and the fact that you have to separately go out of your way to do so is my point. Also, they're right there under the thread title in bright orange. I didn't read them FWIW, but that doesn't mean I'm not aware of their copious presence...
  15. Headphones, or nothing, if I pick up my Jack Casady.
  16. Ahh, it's that side of the bed this morning. I've got out of that side before too. so many tags...
  17. With my constant rotation of basses, I'm highly unlikely to be associated with any particular model.
  18. I've occasionally received a duplicate of something and been told just to keep it. It's always been something small. I doubt Thomann will let me keep two Sire D5 basses, should the "lost" one I recently documented magically appear at a later date.
  19. Aaaaaaaaaand, we're off again! D5 vs. DHL, round two, ding ding!
  20. Money back AND keep the item? I would have expected one or the other...
  21. So, a used TU-2 then...
