I don't think loans count. It's not yours at the end of the day. Also, it's a drum pad - on a tier 1 level (bass gear only) who cares? Would only be of concern to people going hardcore, zero music gear of any kind. TL:DR, I don't think you're out because you borrowed a drum pad.

Ok, I'm going to try to be objective about this. On the plus side (versus a regular 60's/Vintage Pro Thunderbird): It comes with a hard case. It has a Babicz bridge (although the picture on Thomann's site has a classic three pointer on it) It has a brass nut. It's got a famous person's scribbles on it. Is that enough to justify the uplift? Maybe. The amount you'd need to spend to get a regular 60's/Vintage Pro up to this spec wouldn't be too far off. OK, I'll shut the hell up now.

In this scenario I presume they're just going to jack (pardon the pun) up the price of the Jack Casady, seeing as it's their flagship product. This sucks. Just playing into the hands of the likes of Sire, who will occupy the vacant hole in the price range left by moves this. EBMM/SBMM have already done goofed and the Sire Z3/Z7 is coming along soon to occupy the Ray and Ray-a-like space between HB and the likes and SBMM. Epiphone will vacate next and if a Sire "T-bird-a-like" doesn't appear soon after I'll be very surprised.

You'll need to raise your action if it's too clanky for you when you're playing at your hardest. I set my action to be as low as possible without appreciable clank/fret buzz when playing hard. That is likely to require higher action than a guitar - strings are bigger and they travel further when plucked. Raise the pickups a little to meet the strings to reinstate the tone you want. Raising the action affecting the intonation? Depends how far you go. No harm in checking it after you've got the action how you want it.

Have you tried contacting Gibson? They're useless when it comes to old, out of production stuff, but when the bridge pickup on my Gibson EB (2014) failed they sent me a replacement without an issue. Mind you, they wouldn't/couldn't supply me with a gold three point bridge, but that was me not replacing like for like - the bass I was working on never came with a gold one and I was chancing my arm If you approach it from the point of view of repairing a broken product then you might have more success - I was too honest...

Nope. that's the D style - doesn't fit. You need this: https://hipshotproducts.com/collections/bass-bridges/products/supertone-gibson-bass-replacement-bridge?variant=33244555400 You don't use a tailpiece with this one - it has an extended bit after the saddles to accomodate the ball ends.

According to lowendlobster, the Hipshot Supertone TWO point bridge is a drop in replacement for the Epiphone Newport bass which uses the same bridge/tailpiece arrangement as the T-bird and Embassy. He says D style first but it doesn't fit. Also, you'll need to make sure you get metric bolts for it - the Supertone should come with metric and imperial bolts but that's the three point, dunno if the two point Supertone comes with metric bolts as it is principally aimed at replacing the bridges on pre 1972 USA Gibsons. Hope that helps!

Sure, replacement of broken gear is allowed - but it has to be "like for like" - no sneaky upgrades - no replacing a 30W practice combo with a 1000W head and two cabs, for an extreme example...

My first thought was "it's surprising what you can get on the NHS these days"...

It's not for bass so it doesn't count unless you're going hardcore abstinence.
