2. currently using Peavey cabs.
3.
I'm interested in all this talk about sticking 2x10 cabs on their ends. Nearly everyone on here seems to recommend doing this, I just want to know why? How does this improve the sound? Especially if you had a couple of cabs, surely putting them one on top the other is the same as them both on end side by side? Tell me why!! I need to know!!!!
theres a techy explanation to do with the dispersal axis of the cones, they tend not to clash if on their ends. Sounds better on their ends IME.
4.
I'm not much of a slapper, but I'd say plenty of compression and a scooped eq.
+1
5. The s/plate is not original, theres no thumbrest holes above the E string. Also that "access slot" next to the neck heel is not authentic. The logo etc seems date correct, however the string tree looks like a replacement. Anyway, the phrasing in the summary eg: During the professional setup of the guitar the bridge as replaced to help the setup of the action. The bridge that was fitted in its lifetime was not for this guitar. sounds like some foreigner has written it. So, its probably a genuine 75 P with a few replacement parts.
6. After returning to playing a year ago after a 4 year break, Ive titted (is that a word?)around with new gear as we all do. I used Line6, Ashdown and Hartke for a while....but I always had this nagging desire to "return home". By that I mean Trace Elliot. Before i took my "break", I had a TE stack that was to die for. Used it for 7 odd years with no problems and it had THAT sound that suited me. Ive now got hold of a nice 300w TE amp (£160) which I have taken out of the sleeve and rackmounted with a Behringer tuner/racklight (£40). I used it at a gig (Xmas party for a local hockey club- 200 odd people, very ODD actually!!) running through a single 2x10" (4ohm) Peavey cab. Blimey. What a sound. Im back, Im happy and Im home!!! Just need to keep an eye out for some Trace cabs but the Peavey was fantastic. She is here: Has anyone else ever "returned" to a bass or amp that they used years ago much to their satisfaction?
7. bump, will go the t'bay Monday if no interest.
8. OG- are the Ps in stock at RONDO now then? Couldnt see them on the site.
9. Kev the pups are quite pokey, louder than my aerodyne. Ive never used a squire so cant comment. It has the Jazzy growl if the EQ is set right. I think its a great sounding bass.
10. Great value Jazz copy. nice 70s vibe funky yellow with torty s/plate. Modded with Gotoh bridge and genuine Fender tuners.Picture taken prior to tuner upgrade. £110 + £15 P and P

12. it wont be all bad, some BCers love em. However, I predict that most if not all opinions will offer the same general advice....... listen and try for yourself. Like most things (apart from income tax), its subjective. Ashdown do have good customer support IME. PS - i would still go for a Trace tho!!!
13. why do people have such an aversion to putting "asking prices" on this bleedin' forum!!! How can you expect interest if you dont say how much youre after? Jeez.....
14. SOLD to Beedster pending the usual. Thanks
15. Now on t'bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=018
16. Having got some TE gear now, I no longer need my Lowdown combo. Great bargain for someone at £200 ono. Excellent condition. Very pokey. Pick up from Chelmsford or Harlow Essex. Would deliver after negotiation. More Info
17. Also, you need a rack several inches deeper than your amp so you can stash leads etc.
18. I'd say its a P neck for a start, therefore not originally on this body. Probably the P decal has been taken off and a J decal put on, not very well in my view. I personally am not aware of the Jap Fenders doing photoflame bodies, but I bow to Muskys knowledge. however, that is NOT a J neck, too wide at the stock.
19. I managed to get a new bass for the wife last week.......... I thought it was quite a fair swap to be honest.
20. Wiil they work with non transparent cats?
21. Quite like em actually. good price too. Im after cabs of this spec but MK is a bit far for me to go at the moment.
22.
Hi all I've been feeling a bit flaky all day, and things got progressively worse through the first set. As we got to the end of one particular tune, it all got a bit much. I finished about four bars early, put my bass down, stepped off the stage, and...heeeuuuurrrgghhhh!!! All over the floor and wall. I did the second set with a bucket at my feet. *high five!* I don't know why I'm sharing this... probably because it's 4.30am and I feel like crap. If, by any chance, the staff of the Magnesia Bank read this, thank you for clearing up the mess.
I blame those "long throw" cabs your using.
23. my fav colour combo of all, very JJ Burnell!!!!!
