This new logo was introduced in 1995 on the Deluxe USA P Basses. The SN should be on the back of the headstock if its genuine. Looks OK to me. Just be cautious if your thinking of getting it. Its a 22 fret neck, standard on the Plus and Deluxe Ps of the period. These models had longer top horns than standard Ps to help with balancing the longer neck. It will look daft on a standard P bass body, in fact it may not even fit the neck pocket.

No wonder they split, using all that sh*te.
Cheers Do I need flux in a tub?
Not unless your doing the central heating pipes too! Electronics solder is fluxxed already.
I've had loads of goes. always messy and the solder comes off the base of pots etc .. Any clues? What sort of iron should I use? What's the best/easiest solder - type? make? sources -Maplins? Is there a book? Youtube instructions? Online tips and stuff? Anyone near Cardiff offer to teach me? Thanks
A small 15w iron from maplin will do. Solder is solder - get the thin stuff. Get a solder iron stand with sponge, makes life easier. Thats all you need. Best thing to do when soldering wires on to pot cases is roughen the metal case first with a small file or screwdriver. This will give the solder something to bite onto.

Gallagher, Mcculloch + Brown To Front Hook's New 'super Group' (Saturday October 13, 2007 10:50 AM) Former New Order star Peter Hook has enlisted the help of Liam Gallagher, Ian Brown and Echo + The Bunnymen star Ian Mcculloch to front his new all-star band. Bass player Hook formed Free Bass with former The Smiths bassist Mike Rourke and Primal Scream star Mani after controversially announcing the break-up of New Order earlier this year (07). The new supertrio decided against having a full-time frontman, and instead have recruited a few big names to sing for them. Details about the titles of the tracks the group has recorded and a forthcoming album have not been released.

Just finished rehearsing Geno by Dexys Midnight Runners last night......made me glad I picked up playing again last year after my son was born. 40 next year but still act like a 16yr old at gigs, although I cant jump so high nowadays, then again, neither can Bruce Foxton.
I wouldn't bother with SX, just get the no name basses you can find in places around the UK like bass centre.
Fair comment BUT.....has anyone bought and reviewed a "no name bass" from The Bass Centre? I cant comment on them cos I havent played one. The SX I have bought, modded and now gig with regularly alongside my Fender. All Im reporting is that it really is an excellent piece of kit for what I would call "silly money". Ive posted a review to reassure other BCers that they are worth considering. I think a positive review far outweighs no review at all. I got the bass from the US to my door in 6 days. Probably ordering from the BC would take no less than that. The SX basses in the kits are definitely different models from those at Rondo, the quality is inferior. That Oly white P Bass from WALTONS is looking nice but I will wait till Rondo has a new stock of Ps in I think.

I was planning on sanding the neck as part of the modding, but to be honest, Ive gigged with the bass twice now and its not too much of a problem. My hands dont stick at all. Im not going to sand it at all now. The actual quality of the lacquer is quite nice I think, gives the neck a nice aged look.

Classic colour combo mate, keep us posted. Im waiting for Rondo to get some more Precisions in now!!!
Why doesn't someone from this forum just drop him a line saying that you missed out on bidding on the item and haven't seen any feedback relating to it and ask if the deal fell through. Also say you thought it went a bit cheaply - you were looking for a MM5 Sun and would be happy to pay £450 odd. He then admits he still has bass for sale, offers to sort something out and you e-mail evidence to ebay and get his arse banned.
Think youve just volunteered yerself, meoldmukka!!!

This guys been trying to offload that bass for months, with the same story regarding the original seller.
-
Dont think he is a crim or a stolen bass, otherwise he would have taken the sale price. Thieves don't barter, only drug dealers.
-
Strange, on the 6th October he says he had packed it, therefore he was unable to take anymore pics. I think its bullshit. didnt get the price he wanted I reckon. Bet its relisted before long with a reserve!!

'76 Precision with very clean - too clean - headstock?
neilb replied to Beedster's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
think its just the flash from the camera made it look light. The h/stock in the main pics looks consistent, nice aged look. They were notoriously heavy though the ash Ps in the 70s. All in all, a nice piece of history, but dont go spending buckets, they aint that rare. -

The SN appears to be 1977 (the year the S prefix was used), the SNs began with 76xxxx in 1976. The tuners are Schallers (branded "Fender") and are consistent with 1976, the first year of their use. So, I would say its OK but probably bought/manufactured in '77 rather than '76. -

Sounds like an upright!!! Im expected some Matchbox/Stray Cats style slaps in there. It settled in better in my opinion when you left the quarter notes pattern and doubled up to eighths with stops etc. Shes got a great voice. Are the vocals doubled up or is there a backing vocalist.? Catchy tune mate. Well done.

I used this years ago when they were Maxima. Entwistle used them, about 2 packs per gig if I recall. They are OK, but they soon lose their shine, then they go a dull bronze colour.
Just remember: musicians hear all the bad notes, audiences hear all the good notes. Enjoy it!
So that leaves the drummer.........They rarely hear anything.

Bassists never make mistakes, if they say you have hit a bum note, say that its a jazz chord or something.

Do you have one that has a foldaway mini-bar?
