Advertising a "leather squirt tool" may attract some varied buyers, to say the least"!!!!! Seems OK to me, if they dont understand the text, then they are too thick to be trusted with any sharpened object in my opinion.

LOL....better!!

A link to your listing would be handy.

What 1 question to any bass player would you ask?

The Ox - Why didnt you listen to your doctor? -
That looks like a right old pile of sheet. Not surprised he is "playing and owning more acoustic guitar more these days " with a bass that crap. The nut alone is a work of art.

I wouldnt bother my friend, be more convenient and probably cheaper to get it done. How many plates are you considering cutting? One? Doesnt justify the grief. Not only will you need to get nice smooth curves, but you need to get the angle of the cut right to if you want a "chamfered" edge. You can get a plate cut from a template for about £40-£50 all in. Be a better job too no doubt.

A grand will open up no ends of options for you. The trouble with asking for recommendations for an instrument like a bass is like asking for help in deciding what you will have for dinner tonight. Its subjective....a matter of taste. Some members here swear by Jazzes, others by Musicmans others by more bespoke makes. Im sure the most common advice you will get is to ignore recommendations and go to a good dealer and try out everything he has in stock. Its even worth making a day of it if the dealer is not local. Try,try and try. You may even end up buying a bass you would never have normally considered because it feels right to you. Thats whats important. Dont reject a certaim bass just because no one here has recommended it. You may love it. To me, basses are very personal instruments, they need to fit with your style of play and more inportantly, YOU. Finally, dont think dearer is better....its not always. Good luck. PS - On the other hand, just find yourself a really nice Jazz and sod anyone elses suggestions!!!!

whats you budget my friend, that will have an effect on what people recommend.

Songs That Have Been Covered Better Than The Original
neilb replied to Bass_In_Yer_Face's topic in General Discussion
Wuthering Heights - China Drum I implore you to find it and listen to it. Hard to believe that a soppy Kate Bush song can be transferred into a thumping good rock tune. Also, Dancing Queen by Red Kross...........for the same reasons as above. -
John East has a sponsored section on this very forum. I havent used Johns pre's but I know may people love them.
All band produce dross at sometime in their career.
True, The album Its Hard by a band called The Who springs to mind.

BIYF Where did I intimate that I cannot/do not accept that people don't have musical tastes? I have merely expressed my view re the band. Have I rejected the views of others as wrong? If so, I apologise.

Watch this, tell me that John doesn't make Mark King look arthritic. 7 min song but wait for bass solo (at 4:14). Ignore the cock on the yellow Strat....what was Pete thinking when he hired him for the tour!!! Most people forget that in fact The Who were great innovators of their time.Yes, I agree, The Boring Beatles started it all, but in my view John,Paul Goerge and the drummer bloke were at the right place at the right time. Five years later and they would be regarded as good, not the best. The Who were more than just a bolldy good rock band. They started the rock opera approach, an album of songs around a specific theme, story, if you will. They were the first to use lasers and complex light shows at concerts. They were the first band to start up their own PA hire company. They were the first to use big backlines of amps, manufacturers like Marshall and HIWATT actually making equipment specifically to order. They have one of rocks greatest poets as their main songwriter. They had rocks greatest bass guitarist. They had rocks most non conformist drummers. Never kept a beat but played melodies often alongside the vocal line. Their influence is not just recognised by subsequent rock bands. Punk, New Wave, Britpop etc all recognise the lads from Shepards Bush as the beginning of expressive rock music. Finally, They had a secret formula that only worked when the guys played together, explains why the solo projects never took off. Listen to the Isle of Wight gig, Monteray, even Glastonbury more recently. Especially watch the Concert for New York concert, just four songs played but made the hairs on yer neck stand up. You may not like all their material, Im a Who nut and there are songs I don't rate, but the ones that do gel are timeless and only The Orrible 'Oo make them what they are. Pete and Roger owe us nothing. They have given us and millions of others inspiration and pleasure for over 40 years and still do. I know its said many times, but which bands today will still be doing world tours in 40 yrs time? See...... none. Exactly. Im off to listen to some Floyd, to restore my balance.

New York Minute - Don Henley Wherever I Lay My Hat - Paul Young

Agreed. As I said earlier, dont start me off on The Who. I could be here some time. If anyone doubts there prowess even in the later years, check out the Concert For New York on YouTube. I hate to use youth lingo, but they "pwnd" that show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2sWjouB1YA
