1.
It's a bit odd, I grant you, but the manual states the following when talking about the DI output: "IMPORTANT: A speaker cabinet of suitable impedance and power handling must be connected to the amplifier’s speaker outputs even when the DI Output is in use." So it's implied rather than stated directly the way I read it.
Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs.
2.
Biggest problem with going micro is when you lose your amp down the back of the sofa. I hate it when that happens.
Yep, had exactly the same thing when I bought a short scale once.
3. Its 'Rock Around The Glock" I thank you. Coat got...
4.
Needs more knobs
I take it you are referring to the amp, right? Lol
5. Well I'm glad for the post as ive never seen one of these before. Look forward to hearing how you get on with it. Cheers Geoff
6.
Yes it was! I'd forgotten...
As my mum once said, never go Commando without a backup....
7.
I dropped it on my foot... Seriously it was a few years ago that I bought a used 100w combo on eBay. It sounded bloody awful and the tone knobs didn't appear to do anything. I sold it on fairly quickly. Tbh I liked the idea of buying British but I guess you learn some things the hard way...
It wasn't a Commando by any chance?
8.
I'm going to recommend the Boss LMB3, because it's the only pedal I've kept in use every day. It does limiting without issues, I use it mostly for that, both at home and in live use, but the enhance function is also nice if used in moderation. It won't color your tone much compared to a boutique comp, but it does sweeten things a little bit, and you can pick them up used for about £35. I'd be the first to jump on something more expensive if I felt it was lacking in any way, but I haven't found a reason to stop using it yet.
I'm in this camp too. Ive tried several different ones and they have come and gone. The Boss remains though, and I've stopped looking at others.
9.
Shall we say the word 'heft' a lot?
Well that's quite a hefty demand...
10.
No doubt. The things some people will believe defies explanation or logic. Donald Trump as President, for instance.
Is he better vertical or horizontal?
11. One other thing, I'd go for a TE head with a cab of your choice, the lighter the better in my book. I use a single 15 cab with an Eminence 3015, my driver of choice for a few years.
12.
What sound wise is the difference between the series? I used to use a 1x15 combo, no idea what series - but the 7 band EQ at church - and admittedly I didn't spend long fiddling but it was a very 80's sound with my active pupped Warwick. Now I'm thinking it wasn't the greatest cab ever but I'm intreaged to try trace stuff again (that twin valve combo for sale looks awesome) Sound wise what would I be expecting from the different series?
There's not a lot in it to my ears, apart from the SMX which I always felt sounded restricted somehow compared to earlier models. The series 6 came as either 7 or 12 band, mine is the latter. The SM is 7 band, with the brilliant eq balance control, and two preshapes if that's your bag. Sound wise my Series 6 is harmonically richer than my SM. It just has that edge for me. I'm generally rubbish at explaining these things, I'm afraid.
13. Ive had a few TE heads, the Series 6 being the pinnacle for me. SM's also great due to their simplicity. I'm probably the only person who never really gelled with the SMX.
14. Surely the OP's username infers only one answer to this question...
15. I really don't see what all the Huss is about.
16. Ive said it too many times before, these bass cube 30 things are brilliant. Perfect home practice amp but with a surprising amount of welly to them. Ive used mine for intimate music sessions with no probs, with drummer and guitarists. GLWTS. Geoff
17. I use the mobile version 90% of the time, works fine except the niggling inability to see people locations, so have to ask in a post. Geoff
18. 'You're a guitarist? Oh.' Mind you, that's not so unusual as insults go.
19.
Do you mean 8x15?! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/259954-custom-8x15-bass-cabinet/page__st__240__p__2823274__hl__8x15__fromsearch__1#entry2823274
Eeeek! Yes I did, thanks lol
20. Now, where's that thread where the chap was building a 4x15 cab...?
21. Quite possibly the most passionate advert ive read on here, or anywhere for that matter. Makes a nice change. GLWTS.
22. Hi, very nice indeed. What does the JJ pre valve do for grind etc compared to the original EH valve?
23. Sad news indeed. I cant remember a month where so many celebrities have passed away.
24. Oh that's very nice. A series 6 X. Rare as. Never mind yer SMX etc, the series 6 is quite possibly Trace's finest. GLWTS.
