1. Ive been wireless since 2009ish, and would never go back, for all the reasons listed above. Ive used the same Sennheiser setup and it is totally reliable, no noticeable change in tone from being hard-wired with a cable, and is light and compact. Great range too.
2.
The RM800 is loverly! It can do clean, dirty, the sub harmonic thing is nice and subtle even when maxed out, the EQ simple but effective, the line mix a stroke of genius when practicing, and the build quality is top notch. Very, very happy with it
How do you find the emulated tube drive, compared to the ABM tube drive?
3.
I had one for my birthday too. Guess the bass....
Active Battenberg?
4.
Made in China?
Boom-tish....
5.
The mug is a big disappointment though, not enough juice for my liking and the overdrive is non existent. Poor show. Pics soon....
More importantly, what is the handle like?
6. Beautiful finish on that - I've been converted to translucent finishes recently, something I never thought would happen! GLWTS.

GILLY

Will bought my Yamaha BB1024. Great transaction and chap, even though UPS did mess us around with the pickup/delivery, We got there in the end. Deal in confidence with Will.
8. After having gone around the houses trying various alternatives, I've ended up back with my trusty LMB-3. Has the necessary controls (although Enhance is either off or set very low), and perfect threshold range - and what's not to like about a Ratio which goes from unity up to infinity? Tonally I have no complaints - whether its a light limiting or a heavy clamp-down effect.
9.
I've learned something today, I had no idea that such a system existed!
Ditto. There's some weird stuff out there
10. Brilliant article indeed. However, is the last picture incorrect? It's a repeat of an earlier one, and doesn't match up with the description on the text.
11. That's good price. Have you seen detailed pictures of it? Is it from a shop or private? I sold mine for £350, with the pukka Ibanez hard case - which was probably a silly thing to do, but hey-ho.
12. I had a 2009 SR700 for a couple of years. It was a beautiful Amber finish, and was incredibly well put together - fit & finish, hardware etc all top class. The neck and playability were perfect, and I was able to get a stunningly low action and perfect intonation all the way up (and down) the neck. The newer ones have a mid-frequency shift switch, which mine didn't have. If you like the SRs, and are looking for a step up, then either the SR500 or SR700 will do that for you. I don't know what the tonal differences are as I've not played the SR300 or SR500 - best you try before you buy, if at all possible. I've read that the SR500 is extremly close to the 700 at a lower price - you may find it suits you and will save you some dosh. Why did I sell? Purely because I wanted to try something else - that's all. Cheers Geoff
13. This is my trusty SM250. A very potent 250watts into 4 Ohms, the Trace GP7 pre-amp and solid build quality. I think this is from the mid-90s, and everything works as it should. A couple of the square plastic push-button caps are missing but the switches work fine. I'm based near Brighton for collection. Cheers Geoff
14.
Is this just the pre-amp or does it gave an incorporated power amp also? If it has an incorporated amp, what are the specs please. Thanks!
Hi, its full-blown head with 250 watts at 4 ohms. Might not seem much in today's world, but these amps are notably loud for their ratings - as most will testify. Cheers Geoff
15. A '95 vintage 250 SMX head, in great condition and everything working as it should. New pre valve fitted recently. Looks like it had the gain and master pots replaced with non-detented types before I owned it - this doesn't affect operation, in fact it makes it easier to fine tune the gain and output volume. Am based just outside Brighton, and would prefer pickup, or meet within reasonable distance. Cheers Geoff
16. I'm not one for profanities, but this is effing gorgeous. Stunning condition and finish.
17. Id suggest its more to do with the PSU choice than the amp section. Possibly...
18. These are fabulous. Missed out on one recently due to my own incompetence, and have just snagged a 405. Where was this when I needed it? GLWTS Geoff
19.
Yes; he went to live in California, I understand.
Yes, with Benny apparently.
20. In the 80s I was into AC/DC, Saxon, Scorpions, Motorhead etc etc. I appreciate 80s pop music much more now than I ever did back then. I also sort of get the Beatles now, took me a while though.
21.
I certainly hope not, otherwise it opens the door to all sorts of absurdities such as something flexible having "bendage".
Does the number of cabs I have become "cabbage"?
