1.
It's certainly in an unattractive state. You have to wonder why the butchery was done? TE combos always seem to go for peanuts, considering their performance - of course, it's the weight that's the killer for them compared with the competition these days. I loved my old 1210 4x10 combo, but it made a baby elephant look light, and I never looked back once I moved to my current lightweight rig. It's possible that this might be worth more if you sold it as a standalone head. Now, I believe that in my loft I might have a TE produced sleeve for the amp part of my combo, which I was given when I bought it second hand. Happy to give it away if my postage costs are covered. That would give you a marketable head, I think - interested? And, thinking about it, if you did that, and then slightly refinished the top of the speaker section, you might well get something for that. I'm sure that, with a little effort, the two halves would fetch rather more than the whole.
I'd say that is an extremely good idea, and a very kind offer. Gives me faith in Basschatters. Cheers Geoff
2.
Can you buy Ampeg by the kg?
Apparently it's illegal to sell Ampeg by the lb in the EU, must be kg.....
3.
Here is my 500 head in a band setting. Eq not far off flat. Fender p and played through a fender rumble 112. http://gdansk81.tumb...tudios-23-02-14
I like those two tracks. Nicely done. Cheers Geoff
4. My highlights from yesterday were Yolanda Charles and Roger Glover. As well as bumping into Ben (Cosmo Valdemar), of course.
5. The one above the second from top. Or the middle one.
6. I had a later Highway One Jazz in Wine Red. Really very nice instrument indeed, and worth £400 - £450 if in good condition. The tone circuit is the Fender Greasebucket thing, which apparently works differently to the 'standard' one, but to honest it made no difference to me. I'd go for one. Cheers Geoff
7.
Yeah. Dolly Parton appears on their Artists web page. Must be good.....
Yep, apparently it only works from 9 to 5.... I thank you.
8. I read the thread title and thought I was in my 'other' forum for a moment....
9. Well I got a negative response from BAS. They don't stock them and no advice about where I might source them. I can't believe it's so difficult to find a simple cap for a standard size pcb mount switch lol.
10.
Try British Audio Services. They stock plenty of TE spares, although a quick look didn't show what you want. You could contact them.
Yes I've emailed them, hopefully might get somewhere. Cheers Geoff
11. Has anyone got a source for those small white square plastic push-button caps that fit the Trace Elliot GP7SM, GP12SMX amps etc? They are used for the passive/active switch, preshape, mute etc. I need a few to replace some lost/broken ones, but haven't had much luck finding them online. Cheers Geoff

13. I've just bought an SMX head from the seller: John's a good guy to deal with, type bump. Cheers Geoff
14. I bought John's Trace SMX 250. Good guy to deal with, and amp sounding great Also, the amp was so well packaged I nearly broke a pair of kitchen scissors trying to get in there. Cheers Geoff
15.
Or should I be a right feeble nancy-boy ponce and lower it to a painted-on level ASAP? I thank you!
Out of the closet at last, I see.... Actually you should man-up and give it a try as it stands at the moment, and see how you get on with it. You never know, maybe you can be tempted back after all... Cheers Geoff
16. Just checked the DV247 site - blimey that's a seriously good price, and with free delivery. Crikey......
17. I think Muzz's helpful response pretty much hits the proverbial nail on the head. Oh, and welcome to Basschat by the way. Cheers Geoff
18.
Why do you have a wicker Pith Helmet? NB btw.
A mate of mine used to have one of those helmets, and I kept trying to steal it from him. In the end he told me to stop taking the Pith.
19. Holy moly that does look nice. The Wilko parts alone would cost in excess off £100 to buy. Nicely done.... Cheers Geoff
20.
Am I the only one who clicked "seller's other items" to see if that jacket was up for auction?
Erm, no
21. These are great solid compact practice amps, and surprisingly loud too. I've used mine most days for the past 4 years, totally reliable and dependable. Even done some full jams with it lol. This is a great price too GLWTS
22. For once, absolutely nothing. An incoming Trace SMX has pretty much satiated my desires for now....
23. To the OP, where are you based? I'm near Brighton and don't mind running through it with you sometime if you don't find a manual. Assuming you are local of course lol EDIT: I just found a pdf of the manual on my lappy - send me your email address and I will send it over to you. It covers various models including the 715, and like you say states that the internal speaker gets all the power as it is a 4 Ohm driver. Geoff
24. I've used one of these before. It will hold its own in any pub/club setting. Tonally I found it very versatile, and unless you hanker for lightweight gear, then this is going to to stand you in good stead. The 150 refers to 150 Watt output at 4 ohm, 300 'peak'. Either way, very loud compared to today's contenders. Cheers Geoff
