1. I used my LB30 with a BF S12 for several gigs in small/medium pubs without needing more, in a rock/pop covers band. I've also used the DI, but only needed a little injection into the PA at larger venues. I don't think a speaker level DI is needed - the LB30 DI is taken from it's own winding on the output transformer, so you get all the goodness. Cheers Geoff
2. Smaller footprint? I'd always assumed the CTM100 and CTM300 used the same case. Interesting. Cheers Geoff
3. I'd send it back, get a refund, and look for a s/h one on here. Alternatively get one of those cabs that are made in the Peoples Republic of Brighton ;-)
4.
Tried that, the smell was awful.
Quote of the week award :-)
5.
Inspired by this thread I just got my 414 out...its either because the weather has changed or because the new allen key I bought fits better but I got the damn thing working!!
And that alone is worth the entrance fee to Basschat. Excellent news. Have you managed to get a suitable neck relief? My 414 has a very sold feeling neck, and it's never gone out of kilter on me.
6. My ideal cab? One that arrives on time, gets me home quickly and doesn't cost the earth. Workable? Ooops....
7. Yep those Fenderfakers are pretty good aren't they? You guys ever play over Sussex way at all? (I'm not allowed out of the county due to import/export issues) Cheers Geoff
8. How dare you castor spersions. I promise to stop now.
9.
Aren't you reinventing the wheel?
You spoke too soon... (geddit?) lol Although it has no bearing on the subject. But I hope it has valves. Coat got.... i'm tyred....
10. An 8Ohm 1x15 that weighs about as much as a packet of fags, will take 500W, and can be built (loaded) for £250 using just washing up bottles, cereal cartons and sticky backed plastic. What you reckon? Actually, an 8Ohm 1x15 with similar specs to whatever your 1x12 will be, would be nice. A slim 2x10 too. And a 2x15. And so it goes on... Tonally I'd want smooth, deep and without too much unwieldy low end. Do I mean 'tight' - probably. My descriptive words probably mean something different to everyone else. Oh, and the option of a tweeter for those who need them. Cheers Geoff
11. I cannot get the mobile version of Basschat to display on a Nokia 520 Windows phone - I only get the full version which is impossible on a small screen. I've tried the stock browser and others from the Windows store without success. The setting to show 'mobile' versions is set correctly on the phone. Is this a problem with Windows Phone 8 itself? Mind you, other mobile sites display correctly - BBC being one example. Any thoughts/advice folks? (I searched without success) Cheers Geoff
12. Pure vanity? Nah defo not. Life is too short not to do these things. Enjoy.
13. That's pretty much how I bought my BB1024 - shop demo which was faultless, and at a nice price. I'm sure you will enjoy!
14. Also, it will be the ideal height as a bedside table.
15. That's why I don't mind buying second hand basses that have some dings and dongs on them. They may not be my dings and dongs, but I don't mind adding to them if there are already some there. Ready-worn is not really my thing, although I did have a Vintage Jaco Fretless for a while.
16. Wow that's gorgeous, nice one. Let us know how it is when you've had a chance to give it a bit of a workout. Cheers Geoff
17. I bought Mike's Boss ME50B. Great guy to deal with. Unit was very well packed and arrived on time. Would definitely deal with him again. Cheers Geoff
18.
Still doesn't explain Toyah and Bob Fripp though.....
Something of which I was only made aware a couple of months back while watching some tosh on the gogglebox. It took me by surprise, that's for sure. Mind you, look who married Anita Dobson...
19. Ivan bought a set of strings from me. Good comms and payer. Cheers mate
20. Mike bought a couple of pedals from me. Friendly comms, quick payment and all went well. Would sell to Mike again (or buy from him)! Cheers Geoff
21.
Thank you RB but I'd like to know why the video I posted keeps disappearing?
I meant to ask 'what video?' in my post actually, but forgot. Very strange why it should keep disappearing.
22. During the first song on that video I was expecting a Spinal Tap-esque Stonehenge to be lowered onto the stage. Can't think why.
23. Re points 6 and 7. The valves should be a tight push-fit. Use a very gentle rocking motion, whilst pulling them out carefully. When replacing, make sure all the pins are lined up with the holes before pushing (and again gently rocking) them home. Cheers Geoff
