Perhaps the best highlight so far has been the compressor though...it actually audibly does something for a change, seems great and will hopefully save me some speakers as i do drive them hard. I've also just found you can switch the one 12AX7 tube in and out...it was off. I'll try it again later with the tube to see if its any warmer...however i feel it'll probably be more gimmick than useful...we'll see. So to conclude so far: very impressed for the money, very light, bags of power, build quality is OK....perhaps the EQ sliders look a bit flimsy and lots of vent holes which may allow a bit of contamination in dusty environments - although mines in a nice SKB 2u rack bag, lots of EQ and configurations options, compressor is great as mentioned. So all that, a 1500W amp with two amp channels and switchable crossover, accommodates 8ohm to 2ohm, fits in 2u case...all for £525 from Bassgear. The man from Del Monte says yes!...although i'll probably be bored of it within 3 months The acid test will be gigging it tomorrow; i'll try it out with my soul/funk band and see how i get on in that setting [/quote] Nice description Lee. Disagree on that one - different light bulb wattage has a definite difference in its brightness. Sticking the letters RMS after the word Watts doesnt.

Even RMS Watts is a marketing ploy. It makes no sense.

It's just a way of saying 'this power calculation was derived using V RMS'. It's a misnomer.

As a slight aside, I have never fully understood the term of RMS watts. RMS voltage, yes. RMS current, yes. And using RMS voltage into a purely resistive load of 8 Ohm would surely give average power, not RMS power. RMS and average are not the same thing. Or am I just being dim? And sorry for the hijack....

I've been using a Sennheiser Freeport for the past 3 years. Works flawlessly, no tone difference either. The only thing I've had to replace was the transmitter aerial (I managed to trap it in under the lid of my alu case - silly sod).

All of the above really. In fact I think it's rather rude of them to expect you to pay for doing them a favour. I would tell them to stick something where the sun don't shine. I might even use those exact words.

Well probably the lightest/loudest combination is a BF Compact (s/h around the £400/450 mark on here), and something like a MB500 head - prob around £300/350 on here. Also the Ampeg PF heads are darned good, the new PF800 will drive a compact with 400W (8ohms) which will be very loud indeed as it is a sensitive cab and capable of turning those watts into lots of spl. I have used an RH450 and although it I enjoyed the tone and facilities, it seemed to run out of puff when pushed. It just didn't have the sheer 'grunt' I was expecting.
