1. Hi there, where are you based? Can't see location on mobile site.... Cheers Geoff
 2.
so florescent tube bulbs give a wide frequency light in the greeny bit of the spectrum, and incandescent a narrower frequency of light in the yellowy spectrum. What I'm wondering is what's better for metal?
At last some sanity. I'd go for Black.
 3. I think two people need to get a room. You can discuss your bulbs in private. Anyway my point re the validity of RMS Watts remains. Bulbs or no bulbs lol.
 4.
Increase from the 11w one to the 60w one, same brightness. Because watts isn't the determining factor of brightness. Same way that it isn't the determining factor for loudness.
You are missing the point. Comparing fluorescent to tungsten is irrelevant. As you increase the wattage of either, the brightness increases. Nothing to do with loudspeakers at all. Back to the original thread...
 5.
It's here First impressions...it's light, 10lbs It also reminds me a lot of an Ampeg Pro4 that i once owned with regards to the multitude of wiring configurations available...but a fifth of the weight. Bonus. How does it sound? Well, I've only had about 10 mins on it so far. At flat EQ It seems very clean and not as warm as my Eden Nemesis or Orange terror...that is a good thing though as i wanted something different to these amps. From sound memory (if such things exist) It did remind me of Mark bass a bit, clean, hifi etc etc. The great thing is when you use the EQ, wow!! lots of tonal flavours available here - the knobs do something unlike my Terror bass and the contour knob typically gives the slap scoop too. It didn't take long to find a good reggae sound either which is primarily what i bought this amp for, having both parametric and EQ sliders is great to quickly dial in your sound - i can also set two sounds between these EQ's and footswitch between the both i.e. phat dub and even phatter dub . This amp is also very loud... 1500W apparently. I don''t know if goes that loud (yet) but at level 2 on the master i managed to move the mirror on the wall, hope wifey doesn't notice. Perhaps the best highlight so far has been the compressor though...it actually audibly does something for a change, seems great and will hopefully save me some speakers as i do drive them hard. I've also just found you can switch the one 12AX7 tube in and out...it was off. I'll try it again later with the tube to see if its any warmer...however i feel it'll probably be more gimmick than useful...we'll see. So to conclude so far: very impressed for the money, very light, bags of power, build quality is OK....perhaps the EQ sliders look a bit flimsy and lots of vent holes which may allow a bit of contamination in dusty environments - although mines in a nice SKB 2u rack bag, lots of EQ and configurations options, compressor is great as mentioned. So all that, a 1500W amp with two amp channels and switchable crossover, accommodates 8ohm to 2ohm, fits in 2u case...all for £525 from Bassgear. The man from Del Monte says yes!...although i'll probably be bored of it within 3 months The acid test will be gigging it tomorrow; i'll try it out with my soul/funk band and see how i get on in that setting
Nice description Lee. I'm envious :-) Let me know how the gig goes tomorrow. Geoff
 6.
Compact fluorescent at 11w, and about same brightness as 60w incandescent. So no.
Yawn. And increase the wattage and they get brighter? Or not?
 7. Disagree on that one - different light bulb wattage has a definite difference in its brightness. Sticking the letters RMS after the word Watts doesnt.
 8. Even RMS Watts is a marketing ploy. It makes no sense.
 9.
Measure the amp's maximum output RMS voltage swing into the rated load at the rated THD and that's 'RMS' watts. The watts aren't RMS, the voltage swing is.
Yeah that's the point. The result is not RMS Watts, but is denoted as such. It's just a way of saying 'this power calculation was derived using V RMS'. It's a misnomer.
 10. As a slight aside, I have never fully understood the term of RMS watts. RMS voltage, yes. RMS current, yes. And using RMS voltage into a purely resistive load of 8 Ohm would surely give average power, not RMS power. RMS and average are not the same thing. Or am I just being dim? And sorry for the hijack....
 11. I've been using a Sennheiser Freeport for the past 3 years. Works flawlessly, no tone difference either. The only thing I've had to replace was the transmitter aerial (I managed to trap it in under the lid of my alu case - silly sod).
 12. All of the above really. In fact I think it's rather rude of them to expect you to pay for doing them a favour. I would tell them to stick something where the sun don't shine. I might even use those exact words.
 13.
http://www.tcelectro..._management.pdf FWIW, the RH450 sounded loud to me, but lacked substance. YMMV.
I believe that is exactly what I was trying to say: My 'grunt' = WOT's 'substance'
 14. Well probably the lightest/loudest combination is a BF Compact (s/h around the £400/450 mark on here), and something like a MB500 head - prob around £300/350 on here. Also the Ampeg PF heads are darned good, the new PF800 will drive a compact with 400W (8ohms) which will be very loud indeed as it is a sensitive cab and capable of turning those watts into lots of spl. I have used an RH450 and although it I enjoyed the tone and facilities, it seemed to run out of puff when pushed. It just didn't have the sheer 'grunt' I was expecting.
 15.
I think the high pass filter might help get the most from the 240 watts.
Eh? I don't get that at all. When did they increase the wattage?
 16.
I help out there approx one day a week and often cover a lot of the initial email questions that come in I reference it in my signature so that people know there's an association but that anything I say here on BC is a personal view and not anything to do with the business. I'm not sure if this shows up on mobile applications though
Thanks for that Molan. And no, signatures don't show on the mobile version - hence my question.
 17.
V4 Icon series P mate but I am thinking of investing in another Vintage when funds allow
Good choice. I just bought back my black V4 from a guy on here. Such a good playing instrument.
 18.
This I have a Vintage and it blew my Squire away and is actually a fair bit cheaper than a squire but it is also worth looking in the for sale section on here you could pick up a rather nice used bass in your price range
Out of interest which Vintage do you have?
 19.
I like the headstock and love the caramel colour available on the 1024x
Agree. My 1024 is caramel brown and I think it looks classy. Shows the beautiful wood grain nicely too.
 20. Molan, probably a stupid question but are you connected to Bassgear somehow?
 21.
Yes, I'm using it with two 8ohm BFM cabs for 1300W. It has a lot of, er... headroom. It sounds fine as it is, but sounds even finer with a VT Bass on the front and a dbx comp in the FX loop. The Sub Bass control is truly Earth-shaking, but in practice you don't actually need that much bottom end on stage. Nice to have it available, though. Just a touch is usually enough!
Interesting. I'm kinda nosing about for something powerful to drive my newly acquired BF S12. It sounds fab with my existing amps mind you - just I'm greedy, I guess.
 22.
Will do matey...it should be here tomorrow so hopefully i'll gig it on Saturday with those 2x10's i got from you...they're not bad those cabs either...been cranking them in the living room yesterday and they're coping with the harsh heavy dub frequencies that i'm throwing at them
Nice one Lee. Look forward to hearing how it goes. Did you order your BX1500 from Bassgear? I noticed they are currently out of stock - you had the last one I take it? Geoff
 23.
No, this was Little Feet . They sound just like Little Feat but their feet are smaller.
Awww how sweet. Clearly not big shoes to fill then...
 24.
If it's anything like my B2000, you're in for a treat.
Looked at that one too. I take it you are pleased with it?
 25. Nice one. I'd been looking at these just a couple of days ago, seems a lot of amp for the money. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Cheers Geoff
