And now Matthew has bought another Little Bastard - this time it's my 550. Easy transaction and good communications, quick to pay. Cheers Geoff

I can highly recommend a BF Compact for pub gigs, with a suitably powerful amp - it's been my main squeeze for 2 years. The Compact weights 12kg and is about 5 inches shorter that the Super 12 (same width and depth) - it's like carrying a large empty suitcase. I shall probably be selling mine shortly after I pick up a Super 12 on Saturday morning Geoff
You've got me measuring my fingers now, Conan! My longest is 3.5 inch, but my maximum stretch from tip of thumb to tip of little finger is 10.5 inch. No idea what that means, though
I feel a dedicated 'How Long Are Your Fingers' thread coming on....

Yes, I've heard of these tweeter things. They'll never catch on though Seriously though, yes it was a great price. The recent release of the Next Gen cabs appears to have had an affect on the residual values of the previous generations. Plus, I have never seen so many S12 or S12T cabs on the marketplace at the same time. They are still stunning cabs and worth the money.

New ideas for the Recording forum - THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!
Crikey! The last time I saw this much action in the Recording section was when they decided that wax was no longer a good recording medium...
And when may I ask was THIS decided? -
My experience of the 414 and 1024 is that the former is just as punchy as the latter.

I'm just in from a rather excellent band practice where we knocked out two great covers - it just all came together nicely. It happens now and again, especially when we do our homework beforehand Also, I'm rather excited to report that I shall be picking up a BF Super 12 on Saturday morning. I've been waiting the best part of 2 years for this moment, and one came up unexpectedly within my budget. I cannot wait. Cheers Geoff
Great basses...used to have one but sold it because I started using my fretless Wal exclusively..still excellent value for money. Recorded a clip with it.
I've watched this video clip before and after I bought my Jaco, and it is very impressive indeed. Cheers Geoff

Yes out of the two, the BB is definitely punchier. It also has a wider selection of tones available.
Thats my old amp. What a cracking amp it is. I really like the change of control knobs. Good luck with the sale.
Indeed it is. Yeah I think the new knobs work well aesthetically, as well as making it easier to see the settings at a glance. Cheers Geoff

The discontinued BB414 has a slightly slimmer neck compared to the current BB range, and they pop up on here from time to time - they aren't available new any more (unless you manage to find new old stock somewhere). I have a black one - but the metallic orange one is gorgeous. However, IMO there is something very rock n roll about a BB424X (the one with the pickguard and metal control plate). The Vintage VJ74 has a slimmer neck still, and is 38mm wide at the nut. The BBs are 40mm. Ideally, get to try some out. Cheers Geoff
I'm not really getting the hang of this.. I did have The Hat on though- that's cool , right? Next year is my year, for sure!
Three strikes and you're out!

The slimmest neck I've had was a SR700. An absolutely fabulous instrument, but ultimately I did not get on with the neck - in fact I'd suffer cramp in my left hand at the end of a set. This was the only reason I had to let it go. Next came a Jazz which is thicker. My current favourites are my Yamaha BBs and my Vintage V4. All slightly different neck-wise, but all very comfortable for me. Try some and see what feels best for you, but sometimes it's only after extended playing you get a real feel for the long term comfort. Cheers Geoff
