1.
I believe the BH500 is 2ohm stable, BUT ONLY if you use TC cabs.
Discreet much truth, speaketh he. All seems a bit odd though, an Ohm is an Ohm is an Ohm, no matter where it's grown. (Oooh, poetry). However don't forget that the stated cab impedance is purely nominal, and perhaps TC's home-grown cabs have a tighter range which never dips scary low throughout the frequency range. They can't guarantee the same with another make of cab. Cheers Geoff
 2. Interesting comment on the fans. On my UK made ABM500 Evo3 they were pretty much inaudible, and there was absolutely no hiss or hum on the speaker output either. It was probably the quietest amp I've owned, except my LB30. Even my LB550 has a louder fan - although lets get this in context, it's not audible when playing even gently. Not that it bothers me either way, just an observation really. Anyway - any further thoughts or observations you may have will be very welcome, especially from a gig perspective. Cheers Geoff
 3. Can't afford it, but have to say there is something so special about the beauty, simplicity and sheer class of a P such as this. Must get out of the Public Sector and earn some proper money again....
 4.
If I was in a band I would call it Desperate Fart.
I've always fancied being in Dying Corpse.

 6.
I started the video and found myself skimming through it... all done in a few seconds. Not for me.......
Pretty much ditto here. Even Emmerdale had more attraction in the end....
 7. I think he is very clever. Like a talented version of Robbie Williams.
 8.
18kg That's one hell of a bag of chips ! I want to go to your chippy.
Yes but that would be a rather pricey 18kg bag of chips
 9.
Clover Avenger Custom Chris.
Oooh that is rather delightful. Musn't Google, musn't Google......
 10. Just a thought, had you considered a Baxandall type eq, rather than the FMV stack? I built one a couple of years back, and found it more versatile. I had to apply a little voltage gain before and after the EQ to accomodate the inherent (but small) losses. Mine wasn't a valve pre though. Cheers Geoff

 12.
I think the strain is beginning to show.
I think it's purely incidental.
 13.
because the power transformers are pants and ticking timb bombs
Really? Look like pretty standard toroidals to me. Never had an issue with them myself.
 14. Those modules mentioned by dood look interesting too. And easily fixed if something goes pop. Not that it will, of course. Another Edit: the ABM and TE designs are very straightforward to understand and utilise.
 15.
The original series Ashdown ABMs used those trannies I believe... Might be able to find one of those cheap enough. Or you could try and find a B&O icepower module if class d was of any interest to you.
Yes, and the Trace Elliots too. An alternative to the BUZ901 is the Exicon ECF10N20 and it's complementary device, but is probably not much cheaper. I recently fitted some BUZzes in my TE AH200 and are great, though. How about the suggestion of a class D module? EDIT: 8 Devices? That's a chunk of current Cheers Geoff
 16.
I'm glad you put Iron Maiden in brackets' so I didn't get confused with the other Steve Harris
Also class.
 17.
Class
Indeed. Probably the most comprehensive, relevant and interesting reply I've seen for a while on BC.
 18. I'm surprised their ones are not on the right, ours on the left. Mind you, we'd be one of the minority of countries to have them on the left.
 19. It looks like they have dropped the dedicated Tubedrive control in favour of the second Toneprint. This may or may not provide further versatility, depending on your need for Tubedrive I guess. Great range of combos though.
 20. Two tone prints? Good call, assuming they can be used simultaneously. Must be able to. EDIT: Looks like they have dropped the dedicated Tubedrive in favour of the second Toneprint.
 21.
I can't say that I have 'long term' experience as yet, but I picked up an ABM1000 about 3 weeks ago and whilst I've only rehearsed with it so far, I genuinely like it a lot and don't think it'll be going anywhere. I've never even seen a DB750 so can't comment on that front, but having owned and sold an ABM500 evo3 a few years ago, I'm happy to report that in my opinion the ABM1000 blows it clean away; it's massively more powerful, feels more dynamically capable, sounds much tighter and more articulate, and has a classically warm (more so with the valve drive engaged) yet strident and clean basic tone with no 'wooly' character as so often gets levelled at Ashdowns. Personally I don't like and won't be using the compressor and the sub-harmonic generator, but if they were an integral part of your sound on the 500, they behave just the same on the 1000. To answer a direct question, the fan is audible (as is the general hiss and hum of the amp through the speakers - it's not a silent runner) but nowhere near as much as on, say, a Hartke HA series.
Hi, thanks for this info. Where did you get your ABM1000? Were you able to try one in store before buying? I don't seem to be able to find one anywhere to try out. Well, not down south anyway Cheers Geoff
 22.
Hi Geoff. I have some ex display 1518 Cabs. £289
Cheers, should have asked, I take it they are the current 500 watt version, with cover and speakon cable? Geoff
 23.
sh*t. Best I offload my Compact before anyone else sees this....
Thankfully I was able to 'appropriate' a 15" unit from the boot of the neighbour's son's Saxo. Its bright blue and rated at 1 Megawatt according to the label on the 10gram Ferrite magnet. Best of all, it's 8 Ohm so I can run two of them (when he replaces the one now missing from his car, that is). Slotted straight into my Compact, and goes down to at least, oh, say 60 HZ. In fact, that's the only frequency it will do. Thank god I was able to rectify this embarrasing situation. Back to work...
 24. sh*t. Best I offload my Compact before anyone else sees this....
 25. My used BB414 gets regular gig time. Fab tone and a delight to play. However it made me buy a 1024. So the 414 ended up being not so budget in the end lol.
