1.
Loved it in a way that you might love your own Stuka dive bomber.
Not a comparison I thought I'd ever see on here lol. I like your style ;-)
 2.
Marvin says I won't like the neck (being a chunky-neck P man - in every sense ), and I'm inclined to believe him. I don't like Jazz necks so I won't like this, is the thinking...
Wear some thick gloves and you won't notice the slimness at all
 3.
Probably should bear in mind my idea of loud enough involves two S15s and two 200w valve amps.
No wonder you found the LB30 lacking lol.
 4.
I've found not quite loud enough even with a Barefaced super 15, for fairly polite stuff. Good for casual jamming.
Interesting that. I've been mulling over switching to an S15 myself.
 5. I often gig my LB30 with my Compact. On the odd occasion I need some extra oomph I use a little into the PA from the DI. I find the LB30 easily giggable in most pub situations, I wonder if Ashdown had any idea how usable this amp is when they designed it. Some of us lowly peeps don't need 300w of valve output. Having said that, if I had some spare cash I'd go for a CTM100 in a heartbeat.
 6. If there is a fan, is it running properly - ie all the time? These have a temp switch in the heatsink which shuts the speakers off when the temp gets to about 100 C to shut off heavy current flow and thus cool the power amp down, and switches back on when the temp drops to about 85C. If the fan is not doing its thing properly this may be causing the power amp module to heat up too much. The temp switch only affects the speaker output so if all else is working then this could b the cause. The temp switch itself may be faulty of course. Cheers Geoff
 7. Has this delightful specimen of high-end bass cab technology been sold?
 8. I've always found Thomann 's service to be top notch, including when I had to return something. Mind you the same can be said of various UK dealers I've used.
 9. I had one of these for a short while. Was certainly pretty loud with a great punchy sound to it. Mine didn't come with tartan slippers though ;-)
 10.
Ive got the exact same setup, I find the bright switch makes a huge difference, i guess its for less hifi cabs as it sounds pants with the bf. The mid switch does make a small difference, but not much. I only just started liking the bass switch, with it off i get a Steve Harris kind of tone, switched in and cranked up it becomes huge!
I find the exact same with the bass shift switch. Nice, ain't it?
 11. Yes the LB30 has a DI on the back. It is taken from its own tap off the output transformer, so you get the full glory of the those output tubes. I've used it a couple of times and it works just fine if you need to add a little of your sound into the PA. I'm assuming the CTM30 is the same - Captain Ashdown will be able to confirm that. Cheers Geoff
 12. Currently one of those Vintage Jazz copies. Hardly high-rent, but having been playing their Jaco fretless version I find the neck superb - better in fact than than my US jazz neck. So looking to swap the Jaco for a fretted. The other thing I'd really like in my arsenal is some talent.
 13.
Who's the bastard who kept complaining about the Little Bastard?!?! I liked that little... well... bastard? The look was nice, I actually hoped they made a 100w model with the same look but they went for all black instead...
Absolutely - a 100W version would be storming. The 550 version is close tonally, however. I reckon a 60w would do me, actually.
 14.
I agree. The LB30 is one the best looking amps there is. I understand that Ashdown changed it because they had complaints about the name and took it as an opportunity to re-house the same amp in a CTM chassis. Personally, I'd have just taken the name of the existing head!
Fair enough, I hadn't realised they'd actually had complaints about the name. I have both of the Bastards, therefore I must be a rude boy lol. Like you say, the LB30 really is one of the best looking ones out there. It's a naughty rebellious Bastard, with a denim jacket, tattoos and piercings. whereas the CTM is dressed for the office, with short hair and a suit. EDIT: I never thought I'd get the 'B' word twice in an internet forum post. Result.
 15. What's with the CTM30? The LB30 in a new dress? Not even a gain control to differentiate it by the looks of it. Oh well.
 16. Did this go? If not, any other trade interests?
 17.
Roll off the highs, slight boost to the low mids and maybe a minor cut to the bottom end. Tweak according to the room. Job done.
Pretty much this for me too. I like a bit of a boost around 100hz to 340hz.
