1. With that sort of budget, why not try the Ampeg PF500 (or newer PF800) which weigh about 5kg and fit in a laptop bag, through a lightweight cab. I'm going to suggest a Barefaced cab - but not easy to try-before-you-buy as they are sourced direct from the manufacturer. However, they do have a one month trial option, and if it wasn't to your liking you would sell the cab on here in less than an hour. Downside is the current lead-time for delivery. Alternatively, there are other lightweight cabs available - I see GK have recently released an updated version of their MBE range. Your budget will get you some quality lightweight gear. Cheers Geoff
 2. That's a real shame. Any chance of getting your money back? If you are still looking for a small but decent practice amp, I'd recommend looking around for a used Roland Cube 30 Bass. I've had one for a few years and it is phenomenal in terms of build, sound and volume. It also has several amp models, some effects and a compressor. You can run an MP3 through it, and use headphones too. Highly recommended, although proably a bit pricier than the Warwick. Cheers Geoff

It has changed a little since this (about 18 months ago!) We also have a female singer since we couldn't find a chap that could a- handle the vocals at the required pitch and b- wasn't an arrogant expletive!!
Oh wow now that is a set list. Nice one. Cheers Geoff
 4.
Rather strange. If you read the description on GG web site, it says that the bridge pickup is in the mid 70`s position, closer to the bridge. Not only is it expensive but the pup is in the wrong place for a 72 It might be a typo? http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=13082910051016
Closer to the bridge? Surely that's closer to the heart? Sorry folks....
 5. I've ordered cabs, amps and widgets from Thomann, but not a bass. However, the experience has always been good. I've also used their returns policy which is also rather efficient.
 6. I don't have any further advice here, but just wanted to say that your Avatar pic has made my day, G-G-G-Granville.
 7.
Yes sure, cheers
Forgot to ask where are you based? Can't see on mobile site.
 8.
Hi I have a VJ74 I would trade. Good condition, in sunburst/tort Cheers
Hi, sounds promising! I will sort some pictures for you tomorrow, can you get some too? Cheers Geoff
 9.
It's that big slot in the front. I think.
Ah right, gotcha. I thought it was a letterbox.

 11. Thanks but I'm really after the 'standard' jazz copy. It's the neck, you know....
 12. For Sale is my Vintage Jaco fretless jazz copy. Lovely condition, straight neck which is very slender - better than my old Fender Highway One Jazz actually. Strung with flats, not sure which though - green silks so I think they are Fender Flats. Only up for a straight sale now folks: £140 delivered. Cheers Geoff Some pictures:
 13. I use a Boss LMB-3. It can do anything from gentle compression up to hard limiting, and I find the threshold to be a very useful range. The Behringer is a fairly good clone of the LMB, it seems to sound pretty much the same, but with a plastic body. If you can pick up a s/h LMB for about £30 or £40 it will be worthwhile, and will last forever. And if you decide you don't like it you will get your money back by selling it on here. Also, with the compression ratio set to 1:1 (no compression at all), it can be used as a booster. Cheers Geoff
 14. Folks For sale is my mint Ashdown ABM500 Evo 3 (UK Made). It comes with a Roqsolid cover (black with white piping) and the Ashdown FS4 footswitch which allows you to switch Valve, EQ, Compressor and Sub Octaver. I've had it about 2 years, and is still in stunning condition. I'm looking for £320 (inc. UK mainland delivery) ono, and I'm based in Newhaven, Sussex. Cheers Geoff
 15. Cheers BT that was rather interesting stuff. Geoff
 16.
I don't mind switching or panning between pickups. I tend to go full on anyway.
In which case definitely try a Yammy BB.
 17.
I intend to purchase a Lakland 55-94 with a blue swimming pool finish, they play and sound very nice to me
I misread that and was going to reply with 'why do you want to play your new Lakland in a swimming pool?' Must have been a great gig last night lol
