1.
I also do this. Minus the OD. (It's far too noisy ) Instead I use octave + synth + chorus Lovely synthy fuzzy noisy sound!
Yes I've just started to use a sub octaver too. It's been quite an eye opener.
2.
That's a bit like saying "That Einstein bloke was a bit clever, an all, but could he install a gas cooker? Could he f***."
I don't think he was Corgi registered anyway...
3. I'm clearly not making enough effort. Heavily clamped signal on my LMB into my overdrive. Sounds good enough for most punters I hope lol.
4. Yeah I like the title lol. What a barefaced cheek lol
5. Thanks chaps that does make sense actually. I should try one out sometime.
6.
my reply from ashdown re availability on this very cool looking amp We built 100 UK ones from Day one of the lb30 in fact people still order UK built at twice the price and custom versions as well. There are 5 only UK Built ctm15 one in British racing green will be at the london bass show The others are testing around the world and not for sale. The offshore more affordable units will be about May shipping I hope this helps Custom orders are always taken but whilst the offshore units are Identical you can imagine building small qtys in the UK is very costly . best rgds mark
Is it just me or was that email proof read by Yoda before it left Ashdown?
7.
Bl**dy hell! For the first time in about 500 trades, I may have finally done well out of one!!!
Lol you may get the BC Medal Of Honour for that
8. Yes that sounds suspiciously like defective output devices. Do you have anything you can plug the effect send into to see if you are getting a sensible signal and sound from the pre amp section? Another amp or something will do. Cheers Geoff
9. Yes that sounds suspiciously like defective output devices. Do you have anything you can plug the effect send into to see if you are getting a sensible signal and sound from the pre amp section? Another amp or something will do. Cheers Geoff
10.
That may well be the one i was looking at, but the old saying of 'you snooze, you lose' was true. I used to own a Vintage Pcopy and it was a really nice bass but i wouldn't replace my Jazz with it so it had to go (i like to keep a small group of guitars so they get used).
Yes it may well have been the same one. I hope another one appears soon for you, they are well worth it.
11. Just watched wombats excellent YouTube video. I have some serious learning to do lol
12.
From all these posts I assume there is a secret BC Scatology clique I have been unaware of ?
Now you're just taking the piss
13.
I've had traditional P pickup BB's, such as my old 1100s. A fantastic bass and closer to the traditional P sound for sure, but I just love the extra zing you get from the reverse P pup
Does the reverse P setup make that big a difference? I've never imagined it would, but then again I don't think I've ever tried one - so what do I know? All very interesting indeed. Cheers Geoff
14. I recently picked up an AH200 GP12. Cracking bit of kit, and seemingly quite versatile so far. Interesting how loud it is actually. Cheers Geoff
15. I've just got my first fretless - a Vintage Jaco from a fellow BCer - and it is very impressive indeed.
16. Yeah it's complete BS, which is a shame cos I generally trust Thomann and have used them several times. Actually the cabs are surprisingly good for the price, very solid construction and good sound.
17. There is no direct control of the tweeter from the amp, it's just another tone control. The cab has a variable attenuator though. It's just over enthusiastic marketing bs. I've owned one of the heads and currently the cab. Cheers Geoff
18. Well what a result. Simon wanted my Vintage V4, and I ended up trading it towards his Vintage Jaco fretless. What a superb instrument and exactly as he described. Simon is great to deal with, with regular communication. An ideal seller & buyer. Deal with this chap with confidence. Thanks Simon, its been a pleasure. Cheers Geoff
19. From experience I'd say the TB has volume and lightness on its side. Everything else goes to the LB.
20. I just sold my Highway One Jazz to a fellow BCer. Cracking instrument but time to move it on....
21. An interesting and enlightening thread. Thanks for all the good listening recommendations.....
22. Sounds like a good result, literally. Will be interesting to hear how/if the drivers change tonally as you break them in more. I removed one of the drivers from my HB cab and weighed it at just over 2kg, which isn't a lot for a traditional ferrite magnet speaker.
23. Phil - what is your take on the Celestion BL10 range? I have a good deal on some so would appreciate your wisdom. Cheers Geoff
24. Yes the inside dimensions including the shelf port would be interesting. I'd like to hear what the speaker experts make of it all, I have a couple of questions for them too....
