Yeah I'm totally with you on the build quality of these cabs. Just curious about using better drivers.

Yamaha BB1025X going cheap on Musik Productiv
RandomBass replied to dannybuoy's topic in Bass Guitars
Caramel Brown. I just bought a 1024 in this colour - it looks even better in person compared to the pictures I've seen. It was a toss up between the white and caramel - I bought the white one originally, but took it back to GAK after a couple of days and exchanged it for the brown. There's a Caramel Brown 1024x for sale on here, and the pictures do it justice I think. Cheers Geoff -
Good stuff. I'm keen to hear your findings. I've a pair of the same HB cabs and am still toying with the idea of better drivers, or sell them. Cheers Geoff

I missed that, probably a good thing lol, will see if it's on one of those new fangled Internet player thingies. So far I have been lucky sending and receiving instruments, mostly using UPS.

Referring to a post above, what does 'rawk' stand for? Am I going to kick myself? :-) -

I've just had an extension.

I have a pair of Harley Benton BB210T cabs available. These are usually £120 each from those delightful people at Thomann, and I'm offering them for £70 each, or £120 if you buy the pair together. I've had them for just a few months and they've been used for a couple of gigs and are in pristine condition. They are surprisingly capable considering their price, and the tweeters are not at all hissy or harsh. Very sold construction using ply, not MDF or chip. They have two jack inputs and two speakons, all connected in parallel. There is also a variable attenuator for the tweeter. Each cab weighs 22kg, and rated at 250 Watts @ 8 Ohm. Collection would be my preference from Newhaven, East Sussex. I'm also prepared to meet up within reasonable distance of course. Cheers Geoff
I thought I was alone in not liking the Midget. I wish Alex made a 112 with a fat, quality full range tone that would challenge Berg and Aguilar 112's.
It was the midrange that got me to be honest. Yes, I could eq it out to a certain extent, but then that eq wasn't suited to the Compact when I used them together. The Compact on the other hand is pure bliss. Two of them more so.

So I picked up this Trace AH300-12 for 125 quid...
RandomBass replied to DiMarco's topic in Amps and Cabs
You picked this up for just 125 quid? I'm envious - that's a deal and a half. Nicely done. Now, where is this shop? Cheers Geoff -
Not sure why anyone would want to do that - unless the thermal switch went faulty and didn't switch the fans on at all. In which case the cheapest option would be to remove it from circuit completely. Assuming this has been done properly by someone who is confident with such a modification, then it is probably ok. I say probably, mind you.

I had this setup. Never really got on with the sound of the Midget either alone or with the Compact, it was too harsh in the mid for me. I went to two Compacts after that brief encounter.

Rush - Anthem Tab, PDF File, anyone want it?

Cheers for this. -
Simon bought my Jazz. He's a pleasure to deal with: quick payment and excellent communication throughout the transaction.

I've bought from Lean Business before (through their website not their ebay store, but should be no difference). Good quick service was my experience. Cheers Geoff
I've got a wee bit of spare cash at the moment so im thinking about replacing the cheapo speaker in my harley benton 2x10 with something non-aluminium. I'm looking at sub £100 the pair (2nd hand or new). Any more than that I'd be aswell going the whole hog and getting a new cab. I like the size and shape of this harley benton, but I do feel the speakers let it down. I'm looking to keep it atleast 250w at 8ohm. Truckstop on another thread suggested eminance, which seem to start at about £50 a pop but I'd love to know what exactly im looking for , or whether that extra bit of dosh will make a difference. On the other hand, do you recklon I should just stop fannying about with existing sub standard gear and get a proper cabinet!? haha
Hi is that the BB 210 you have?
I know there's not a great deal of love for Ashdown around here, but I used my ABM500RC for years with no problems, it's just that since I got my RH450 in a bid to make my rig lighter, the ABM has been sat idle in my house. May as well move it on, along with some cabs and other bits to finance an S15!
In which case I don't blame you :-)
-
I think once I move my ABM and some cabs on I shall be ordering one of these! The temptation to just do it now is very strong, but I'm not sure even my very understanding wife would be entirely happy with 3 full bass rigs living in our dining room, so a cull is needed before the S15 trigger can be pulled!
I have to say that I find my ABM sounds rather good through my Compact.
