1.
That is screaming mirror scratch plate at me, Hector Riva help!
Right now I'm more Hector's House....
2.
Ronseal Somerset valley ?
Yep, that P does exactly what it says on the tin...
3. The Argos catalogue... I remember spending way too long browsing through my mum's Marshall Ward catalogue as a teenager. And not in the music section (if there was one)
4. That's a beauty. And these quality photos really do make the difference. I've been mulling a 5 string for a while, and love my 414. Hmmm.......
5. Yeah the MAG heads are pretty good, I had a UK 600 one for a while, but changed to the ABM when I decided I wanted more versatility with the same output stage. The EQ centres on those MAG preamps are really nicely chosen. I think the Ashdown D class stuff leaves something to be desired though based on my experience of the MiBass 550, and their valve stuff fabulous. I've not tried a CTM though.
6. So yes the cabs are probably the issue, rather than the heads. My ABM (or LB30) through my Compact have more than enough top end for me - and that's without a tweeter. Tweeterised cabs are even more so. It's a subjective thing of course - one man's top is another man's woolly. Or jumper. However I shall look out for a mini-fire extinguisher, just in case lol. Cheers Geoff
7. Those Zoots are supposed to be good, aren't they? Didn't they morph into Purple Chili stuff? Oops, there's another UK manufacturer I forgot about.
8. Oops how on earth did I overlook Orange? lol No idea where the valve stuff is made, but my Terror Bass was from the PRC (Peoples Republic of Chelmsford?)
9. I've been working my way through the Ashdown amps (I was probably a Magpie in a former life). None has been either unreliable or lacking top end to be honest, the latter might be more a cab problem I think. What about Matamp? Trace (not sure if they are still UK made), but S/H they are a storm.
10.
My name is Peter I have an addiction to pre eb rays, there I said it
I hate it when someone's BC username gives us no clue about them.... Cheers Random Bass lover
11. That's great news. Sounds like a nice setup you have there... reviews are always welcome, and I don't think I've seen one of that amp/cab pairing on here before.
12.
I reckon exploded cap.
Was he wearing one?
13. Oh bugger. Peacehaven you say? I'm a couple of miles east along the A259, and I can hear it calling me from here.... please move.
14. Why do I play in a covers band? Purely because that band called Rush are still trying out their bass player, Neddy or Geddy or something like that. Once his probation period is over, I'm in....
15.
....plus is nice to play with new shiny things!
Oh isn't that so the case!?! Just call me Magpie....
16.

Isn't that a smart, minimal and classy setup? Especially the P
17. If you are listing it on ebay, how about listing it on here first? Assuming you haven't already of course! Cheers Geoff
18. Well done. I was able to change the power valves through the vent above, without having to remove the chassis. I guess it has to come out to replace pre valves. What are you swapping, out of interest? Cheers Geoff
19.
I had one " artist" stop playing halfway through an audition becaue I had the audacity to play a note beyond the 12th fret.
I've often wondered what those frets were for...
20.
I'm staggered that only 4% of market place users make a donation, if Basschat wasn't here it'd be e bay, and don't get me started on that! £20 a year is fine by me - I'll save money!! Graham
4%?? Blimey that's just astonishing, and disappointing to be honest. Having donated more than £20 over the last twelve months, this will save me some pennies too.
21.
Offers will be listened to for Hillman Avenger in brown with vinyl roof - 10 days MOT and 2 weeks Tax.
Offers not acceptable, you need to state a price or trade value apparently. That's assuming the newly implemented Price or Trade Value box allows less than a pound....
22.
I work very near to GAK and I have to use all my will power to not be in there every lunch break. Oh yeah and nice purchase
Painful, that. Fortunately for me I work within lunchtime browsing distance of Bonners. I only say 'fortunately' because their bass gear stock level is minimal....
23. Too loud? That's the mythical 'pub landlord' quotation I've heard before. Although to be fair last week a pub landlady did ask me (yes me, the bass player) to turn up a bit more. Defo playing there again...
