I decided to renew my BGM subscription yesterday. It's something I look forward to dropping onto the doormat each month.
The mag should do reviews of `Readers builds` a bit like readers wives but without the smut haha id gladly send my funders in for test
How about 'Readers Groupies' then?

Calm down, calm down.... (Sorry for perpetuating a needless northern stereotype)

My band played for an hour at my wedding last year. It went down very well as quite a few of the guests had never seen us play before, and they were thrilled. Well, I hope view were lol. As long as your wife to be is ok with it, and it doesn't detract from your special day then I'd say go for it....

Ta for the tip. I think there's one of those lying around in our rehearsal room - will give it a try this week. Cheers

That's great thank you. Now for a little pedal project
Yes. It's the same for all 500 waters.
Really? I know of one that goes to 2 Ohms, with some internal limiting going on (which is what the Terror Bass does too, albeit for 4 Ohms).
Hi Geoff, Sorry mate - Eden has got me gassin!
That's fair enough young man. I shall peddle my heavy-weight wares elsewhere... Good luck with the sale though, thats a real bargain. I'm extremely tempted still as I have been nosing about for one of these setups for a year or so. Must check piggy-bank Cheers Geoff

You know, I have an Ashdown LB30 and a Barefaced Compact, and have sometimes thought that it might be a modern day B15 type thing. However, I have just realised I have never actually heard a B15 in the flesh. Time for a bit of Youtube trawling methinks... Any pointers to particular artists or songs that really typify the sound? Cheers Geoff
This might help you understand Ohm's Law. Taken from a post somewhere on the net in a forum, might even have been this one. "The best description of ohm's law I read talked of it as two hose pipes. If you are trying to squeeze water through a 1cm pipe it can only flow as quickly as that pipe can take it, the resistance. If you then attach another 1cm pipe along side it you have twice the flow rate and half the resistance. Therefore, an amp that is rated 500w at 8 ohms can only push about 300w of power through to an 8 ohm speaker. If you connect a second 8 ohm speaker you reduce the resistance to 4 ohms and are able to use the full 500w".
I'm assuming you mean the amp is rated at 500w @ 4 Ohms?
-
Not necessarily. You could use an 8 ohm speaker - you just won't get the full 150 watts from the amp.
Indeed. I'd go with an 8 Ohm cab to start with, I doubt you will notice much (if any) difference volume-wise. A high sensitivity 8 Ohm cab could easily sound louder than a lower sensitivity 4 Ohm one. At a later date you can then add another 8 Ohm cab which will increase the perceived volume level because you are moving more air, and have more power. Assuming you have a SS amp, it's important the total combined speaker load does not go below the 4 Ohm rating of your amp. That will be one 4 Ohm cab, or two 8 Ohm cabs, or four 16 Ohm cabs (erm well). However, to what extent things happen depends on your amp and choice of cabs. Cheers Geoff

I recently bought a Trace Elliot AH200 off here, and what a fabulous amp it is. It didn't come with a footswitch for the graphic or pre-shape: is It a simple two switch affair? Google suggests it uses momentary switches rather than latch on/off ones. Is that correct? Wisdom required.... Cheers Geoff
A rare item. I'm thinking of having a replica made.
Oh wow is that an original '65, or the RI?
I have to take the strap off as the Schaller locks won't fit. However, the inside of my case is as follows: Contents: Bass Strap Head Tuner PSU Kettle lead Jack leads Screwdrivers Allen keys Earplugs Dampening sponge Spare strings (under the head) Capo Bass scales/chords book Emergency beers And I believe that's everything. EDIT: just noticed, set of headphones, USB and 1/8" lead for the TC
Now that's a Tardis! Kudos, man.... PS What case is that? -

I've bought and sold several items on here, and all transactions have gone fine, except for one purchase where I got slightly stung but hey Ho! I try to be as fair as possible when lots of enquiries come in about something I'm selling, first come first serve etc. I'm also happy to donate to BC when I make a sale. I've also been very fortunate to have met some great, honest and genuine people on here. Cheers Geoff
