1. Isn't a TE cab with celestions the same as a celestion filled cab that has a TE badge on it? Unless one is a fake, of course. Or am I missing your point? As an aside, I used a TE 15" combo for the first time ever in our rehearsal space. They've had an Ashdown ABM 410 in there for ages, but the pots have got really nasty and scratchy - to the point where it's pretty much impossible to get a consistent input gain setting. So now they have this TE combo. It's only 130 watts but my god its damn loud. And a great tight sound too. Really very good actually - and would be more than loud enough on it's own for most gigs I do. Anyway, my 2 penneth..
2. That's a shame, but understand why you are selling. I made up an 8 Ohm dummy load out of some 10Watt wire-wound resistors for my LB30, then I take the DI into my mini mixing desk and then onto headphones. This also allows me to mix in an mp3 player to play along with without disturbing the natives. Anyway, good luck with the sale
3.
Reminded me of an old Denon hifi amp I used to own!
Ditto. Those mahogany sides, no carry handle to be seen. Yep, defo a Denon. Is there a phono input too? Does it do MC and MM?
4. Erm, anything in particular you might be looking for trade-wise? Cheers Geoff
5. Interesting. Their product demo vids seem to be improving too.
6.
It arrived yesterday Geoff. I'm a novice but I'm running it full input, half EQ all 5 knobs, half compression, almost half overdrive and quarter output and most of my notes aren't going into the red on the level meter. I didn't like the sub-harmonics much but it seemed ok on about a quarter. The deep button seemed a little too much for my P Bass. I used a LoMenzo distortion pedal too on these settings and it was good, not too much.My MAG 410T cab is supposed to have a switchable tweeter but for the life of me I can't find a switch I don't know how to get the best from the Amp so I'd be interested in any advice. The valve/tube emulator is linked to the overdrive and there isn't a separate button for this, its just the overdrive button. There's a funny looking plastic polo mint type hole on the back of the cab next to the cable in hole and I'm not sure what thats about I had to take the clock off the wall and the old lady said that the kitchen lights below are flickering.
So young man, how are you getting on with this MAG Evo3? I'm very curious to know how it is working out for you. How does the overdrive sound on this? Is it 'realisitc' enough? Cheers Geoff
7. And my mate Mr Google found the same product under the 'Tiger' brand name for a smidgen less than £20 from that well known tax dodging internet store, based in the South American Rain Forests. And that's with free P&P.
8. Hi thanks for that. Bit on the wide side for me, I'm more a 38mm man
9. I thought I'd seen that Lull M4V on page 52, somewhere else. Page 44 it seems... erm, no that's a Fender acoustic. Now, two articles on Yolanda Charles would be excusable
10. I reckon EBMM should be named and shamed for being so inept. Also they should apologise to all parties for getting their facts so fundamentally wrong - information that is owned and managed by themselves.
11. Good spot, that man! Love their product description too lol.
12. 'Actually, to be honest with you, I'm surprised I lasted this long'. Our first drummer, just after I told him the news...
13.
30 years? wow, i'll be surprised if these are still going after 3!
I was tempted to reply with something like 'yeah but like Trigger's Broom, they've had 3 new cables & plugs, a new headband, a new pair of transducers and 4 sets of foam pads' lol. Alas, just one set of replacement ear pads in all that time...
14. Hi there So what is the width at the nut? And is it a thick neck (I mean front-to-back) ? That is a fabulous finish in the photos you linked. Cheers Geoff
15. Ive been using a pair of HD480's for the past 30 years or so. Still going strong, and all others just sound coloured and unnatural.
16. Thanks Doddy That looks like a really neat setup, I must say. I tried a Mibass 550 a while ago but didnt get on with it. However, I'm prepeared to give it another shot (I may have got a Friday afternoon jobbie), and love the look of the pairing. Couple more questions for you... what is the tweeter like? Hissy? Clear? Adjustable attenutation? And what speaker connections does it use? Geoff
17. Doddy - does the Mi12 have feet on two sides? The pictures Ive seen show them on the long side - just wondered if they were on the short side under the port too? Cheers Geoff
18.
Oh and when it comes to amp based one knob or on off comrpession - do yourself a favour and leave it turned off.
This man speaketh the truth. It's taken me a while to get it, but I do now. Must be a BN postcode thing....
19. I've been round in several circles to get where I am today on this topic. I tried out several different models, some of which were quite expensive, but I kept coming back to my (wait for it...), Behringer BLE100, which is a clone of the Boss LMB-3. I now have the real mcoy (an LMB3). All I need is a Threshold and Ratio - the LMB3 (and the BLE) allow anything from zero compression (1:1 ratio), right up to hard limiting (infinity to one ratio). The LMB is quieter and the Enhance knob slightly less offensive - the BLE adds too much noise if you use the Enhance knob. I also find the LMB threshold goes to a lower limit. I see that Behringer now also do a BLE400 - I have no odea how this varies from the BLE100, and whether it is an improvement or not. Try some out, but don't overlook either of the ones I've mentioned above. Cheers Geoff
20.
Get an 8ohm cab. You can then add another 8ohm cab later if need be. If you buy a 4ohm and it's not loud enough, you'll have to sell it and buy two cabs or something else. You're not in a band yet so don't know how loud you'll need to be. The watts rated are electrical not volume related. All this 'full power from the amp' is a bit of a red herring. Look at the SPL values for the cabs and trust your ears.
This, several times over. Unless you are buying a BF S12 or S15, in which case that's all you will ever need.
21. Did this sell in the end? Cheers Geoff
22.
My wife actually fits in that category and she has been surprisingly trouble-free so far. Bound to go bad just out of the warranty period, I'll bet !
They come with a warranty period? If only I'd known that first time around....
23. Soon we will be able to order groceries from Tesco via the GAK website....
