I've not really followed these new Prometheans much, but just had a nose about and they look rather neat. Mind you, it's the first time I've seen an amp with a 'Phat' control. Now if they could do one with a 'Talent' control, I'd be sorted...
3. Yes I've always considered BFB to be a bargain, considering what you get. Expensive compared to mainstream? perhaps. But still a bargain.
4. Out of those options I'd go TB500, or even the 1000. It could easily become your Plan A, though.
5.
or pick up your fretless...
yes don't fret, I'm sure it will be back to normal soon enough. I'm having the exact same problem on my Android phone too.
6. still no mobile site on my Android. I'm missing it terribly....
7. As above really. I use them for my amps and cabinets - high quality, good prices and fast delivery. What more could you want?
8.
This. - just keep the groove going
I've had to do this for a few songs, either because I didn't have time to learn it correctly, or I just couldn't work it out. Key thing is that it fits the flow of the song and keeps it moving along. There's nothing wrong with doing your own thing.
9.
Can't help but feel that a some songs in the same key will make it easier to segue between songs at gigs. Less stop time on stage means less time for people to stop dancing.
Yeah we quite often look for this, as well as finding songs that we can mix in together.
10. Ok, so I just couldn't resist. Sorry in advance...
11.
Bassists - they want the moon on a stick.
I'm tempted to put that in the 'Gear Wanted' section....
12.
I think that's fantastic! What a massive buzz! Congratulations mate! I'd be seriously hyped by that I'm really looking forward to supporting Rush at the Fag & Twat down the road in a couple of months.
Cool. What time are you playing? About 12mins past 9 I guess?
13. Funnily enough, I too had a 25 year break from playing bass, and then found Basschat about 3 years ago. My advice to you: 1. Stay away from the Gear forums, they induce a highly infectious mystical disease called GAS. 2. Stay away from the Market Place, it will empty your bank account quicker than you can play a two-octave scale. Apart from that, enjoy! Oh, yes, and welcome to Basschat: it's a great place. Cheers Geoff
14.
Oh as an aside they are all Gasaholics too, not financially helpful but great fun !
I believe I'm the only GASaholic in my band, and am ridiculed accordingly... It's all done in the best possible taste, of course!
15. What a great thread. My current covers band started up 3 years ago. We all come with different musical influences but a great attitude. Everyone is keen to give something a try, and if it doesn't work, we don't push it - we move on to another song idea. We always try to put our 'stamp' on the songs if we can, and if it warrants it. We don't do it every time because we know it's not always appropriate. Our singer is probably our USP: she has a beautiful voice, and can cover most styles with ease. We all get on as friends, and our guitarist is my best mate - and was my best man just recently. Yes, I am delighted with my band. Long may it continue. Geoff
16. I'd suggest an open and frank de-brief of the event. Explain your concerns. If they are met with silence or a brick wall then make your move. The others could be feeling exactly the same, you never know.....
17. It shouldn't be like that, assuming: 1. It wasn't post-EQ with inappropriate/unusual tone settings on the ABM (this would have been audible anyway) 2. The mixing desk channel EQ was set correctly. My ABM500 has an extremely clean and full sounding DI (well, depending on my chosen settings of course). Geoff PS You might want to post this in the Amps & Cabinets section of the Gear forum on here.

I had one of the HB combos. Small, light and loud. However, I had problems with it and ended up sending it back. Thomann's customer service is ace. It won't stop me buying other HB gear in the future - in fact I have one of their 210 cabs on it's way to me right now. Geoff
19. At home practising alone, a deeper fuller sound works best for me. However, for gigging with the rest of the band, I always have a more lower-middy sound, pushing the 180hz and 340hz sliders much more, and with more grind dialled in. Works much better in that context and carries further out front too.
20. Congratulations, nice one. I'd be lucky to get an endorsement with Marks & Spencer, let alone Markbass. Lol Geoff
21. Sorry to hear about this Karl. Fingers crossed. Geoff
22.
Did it work Bert? You've gone all quiet like
+30 (watts) lol. We crave an update...
23. I've decided to hold off. I'm not desperate to sell or trade, there will be other opportunities. Thanks everyone. Geoff
24.
depends who it is really. There are some folk on here I would buy things from sight unseen. And a lot I wouldn't. These days not being able to take a photo is unlikely.
Thanks for the feedback folks. Maybe I should just go with the flow. Just out of interest I've done quite a few deals on here, both buying and selling, with only one unfortunate outcome. Would I buy from a seller sight unseen? Possibly. One of those sellers would be karlfer. Geoff
25. Hi all Bit of an odd post for me. I have an Ashdown ABM up for sale, and I approached another member regarding a trade for another amp. I asked for pictures, none were forthcoming and I was pointed to the relevant manufacturers website. Now that is all fine and dandy, except I'd prefer pictures of the actual item for sale/trade. Is that too much to ask? I'm quite ok to offer pictures of mine (ooer missus lol). Am I asking too much? I hope not. Anyone been here before and been slightly doubtful? Cheers Geoff
