1. Another possible source is Lean Business. I bought a replacement Celestion 15" to replace a blown Ashdown driver a couple of years back. Good price & great service. Cheers Geoff
2.
I like vinyl, but it's downside is it's easily scratched & it jumps when you try playing it in a moving car.
I also love vinyl, but find it chafes a lot in the hot weather. Oh, sorry, wrong forum....
3. Firstly, welcome to this forum Igor. Secondly, don't apologise for your English - it's very good, and possibly better than some native speakers here! I have an ABM500 evo 3 which i bought just under a year ago. It is UK made - not sure how that helps with your timeline though.. And they are very good amps indeed. Cheers Geoff
4. I have one of these in wine red. Fabulous for the money, especially at this price. Bump!
5. The ABM500 into that cab will be fine. As long as you have the input needle moving up towards the red, you will have plenty of volume (assuming the cab has decent sensitivity, of course). Cheers Geoff
6. Does anyone know where these are in stock in the south east? Id like to try one but they all appear to be on special order at the moment.
7. Ive followed these a bit, and dont they look just gorgeous? Does anyone know how they compare to, say, the Barefaced offerings?
8. Oh no what have you done? By all accounts TC have misled you - these amps only put out a couple of watts, and use devil trickery to make them sound fabulous and loud. Best you send it on to me to save your disappointment and heartache Nice one... Enjoy! Cheers Geoff
9. Yes but that won't give you the sound of the pickups, or the tone circuit - all of which are part of the 'sound' of your bass when connected to an amplifier - the sound you and the audience hear.
10. Well these things are totally subjective, hence the vast range of amps available to us to choose from - all with differing size, weight, volume and tone. How do you know what your bass sounds like? Without a completely transparent amplification stage, and completely transparent cab, that is impossible to know. These things will impart a variation on the pure unadulterated tone of the instrument. Cheers Geoff
11. The sockets are wired in parallel. One goes to the speaker output of your amp, the other can be connected to another cab. Remember of course the change in impedance when you add another cab like this in parallel - total shouldnt be less than the min rating of your amp. Cheers Geoff
12. I asked Lorraine to go, but I still couldn't see clearly..
13. Just to back up the wired in series thoughts. It looks like it is wired in series
14. Lowdown are in the Line 6 range I believe, so not a bad brand name at all. If it gets you playing, then it's gotta be good.
15. £35 for a set of strings? Flippin eck. I'd expect them to be delivered by horseman and fitted for me by Leo Fender wearing a tutu for that price!
16. I wouldnt be surprised if it was one of the Roland Cube Bass models. They have a remarkable sound & volume for their size, and a few different models and effects on board.
17. I have kids too. Next time it will be 'baby storage around basses' lol
18. Size - tick. Weight - tick. design - tick. Volume - double tick. Tone - tick. Versatility - not a big tick. Overall i find the OTB brilliant. However my ABM is better in every respect except weight, in my opinion. This current issue im having hasnt helped either.
19. Thats excellent news. However im having probs with mine now lol. Must be something in the air!
20.
I used to enjoy "I Wish" and "Sir Duke", but not played them live for a good long while.
I really want to learn Sir Duke. Great song, and just saw a great cover done by one of our own on here.
21.
Hi Bruce Regarding the BG250 combo, a recent review in BGM said it was made in UK. is this the case? Cheers
Blimey I didn't spot that. However, I would suggest that might be another BGM typo....
22. I gave it a quick shake (ooer missus) - nothing rattling around that I could hear. Unfortunately my time and money is tied up sorting my wedding which is in less than 2 weeks, so this will have to wait until after then. Luckily I have a couple of other amps I can use.... Thanks to all who have chipped in with suggestions, I appreciate it. Cheers Geoff
23. I've been using one of these for a year or so, a brilliant bit of gear in my opinion. The inbuilt condenser mics are pretty good actually, but of course a separate mic may be preferable depending on your needs. I've multitracked guitar, bass and vocals on it often and it really sounds good. Easy to monitor the tracks with headphones as you lay another one down. The reverb does help to fill the sound out a bit, especially on vocals. Although I do use it a bit on instruments too sometimes. Mixing down takes a short while to get the hang of to be honest (will it did for me), and then having to export tracks to the export partition on the memory card takes a bit of time sometimes - but it is worth it actually. Its small, runs on AAs if necessary, light, and works just as a portable multi-track recorder should. I've also used it standalone using the inbuilt condenser mics to record some rehearsals. Not ideal, but surprisingly good. I tend to grab the individual tracks off the unit and mix them on my PC, adding some compression to keep things under control, rather than mix down on the unit itself. Cheers Geoff
