1. I was working for 6 weeks in the US on a touring show 2 years ago. We had working visas and National Theatre of Scotland made us sit in an employment centre in Chicago for three hours so we all got US social security numbers! We were all proposed for visas by a US company who acted as middlemen on behalf of NTS. We all had to go to Belfast for individual interviews at the US embassy. There is also an office in London. If you get caught working without a visa you will be permanently banned from the US probably. I wouldnt take no chances
2. Just stuck a set on my P deluxe. Had a set of Fatbeams on before, but no adjustment to truss rod required and no floppy feel that everyone talks about. Nice feel and agree about playing in the upper register, and no clanking on the frets. Tempted to stick a set on my Ray, but I'll maybe leave rounds on for now so I have a rocky bass as well. Iain
3. Looking for a nickel string for using on a Stingray Classic. It came with Dean Markleys but find them rather hard sounding, and would like something that sounds a bit fruitier and middy. I play mainly with fingers and a bit of pick. Tell me what you use guys Cheers Iain
4. Just saw that blue one in Norway. That is absolutely spunktastic. I imagine they're not cheap, but probably the best looking guitar I've ever seen
5. There ya go. The black is a bugger to keep clean though. As new and came from the Bass Gallery a few months ago. Paid £900 which I thought was pretty reasonable
6. Like the idea of putting the grub screws in the centre.Pretty chuffed with the guitar on the whole though
7. Yea Pete adjusting the treble was what I was doing anyway. I'm tempted to put a marker on the pots so that I know where I am though. I'll play around at the gig a bit. It's a bike rally so they'll all be pissed anyway!
8. Hi I bought the bass I've always wanted and had my first band practice last night, with a gig coming on Friday.Very pleased with the defined sound of the notes which sounded to me very centred. With no centre detent on the bass/treble knobs I was finding it tricky to dial my sounds in consistently. I switch between fingers and plectrum and tend to wind the treble back when playing with the plectrum or it gets very cutting. How do other 2 eq SR users dial their sounds, as I believe the eq is a Baxandall? circuit so treble affects bass and vice versa? Just interested. I use a Streamliner 600 with an Eden Nemesis 4 x 10 btw Cheers Iain
9. Kasuga P copy. The body and neck were ok but the pickup was a cheap soapbar type which, one night at a gig, decided to pick up the local taxi radio conversations and beam them out to our audience. Oh how they laughed.B******ds
10. Every day's a school day I'm finding it pretty hard to differentiate between powered subs and bass bins though, looking at online sites.
11. The SWA1501 always gave trouble and eventually died, so I was basically looking for a replacement of decent quality. It needs to be powered with the same features
12. We use a pair of Mackie SRM 450's that we are happy with(so far) but need to replace our Mackie 15" sub which has been rubbish. Any recommendations? Needs to be a 15" or 18" with HPF and possibly adjustable crossover. Budget £600 max. What's everyone's experiences? Thanks Iain
13. I like the tort on black
14. Is it something by Slade?
15. These guys are great. The singer Chris Scruggs, the great Earl Scruggs's grandson, is also an amazing steel player, bassist and he's learnt the fiddle recently as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QESr8fo65sE
16. I'll take it please. I can gift it to you in Paypal if that's suitable Iain
17. I would like to read bass clef anyway so I think this crash course is the way to go, if somewhat painful for a few weeks!
18. Anybody played bass for Cats before, and how did you find it? I'm playing it in February, but don't read bass clef, so am finding it interesting! I do read treble clef and play violin so I understand the intervals etc
19. I would recommend taking the fiddle to a shop to check the set up. A decent set of strings will help the playability and tone as well. Dominants seem to work well with a wide variety of fiddles. E strings can be funny. Kaplan does a "non-whistling" E string that is wound rather than a single strand. I would also get a decent rosin. Just got rid of my old Art dark rosin which was too grainy and sticky and went for Laubach Gold-an absolute revelation. Much smoother and cleaner
20. I've got one exactly the same but paid £1200! £586 just p****s me off Enjoy it
21. I have a TE 300SMX and bought an Eden Nemesis 4x10 cab for £175 on ebay. Awesome cab, lightweight(not neo) and has been dependable. If you can pick one up cheap they're great-very punchy sound with the TE on preset 2 that really cuts through in the mix.
22. PM'd Iain
23. Thanks for the offer. I'll check out your music.
