2. I have a USA P Deluxe and the jack produces horrendous pops and bangs if it is moved sideways at all while plugged into the bass.I bent over the end contact of the jack socket and that helped slightly but it still does it if I stand on the lead or something similar. Is it just a poor quality socket or is there a way to fix this? Iain
 3.
Hi guys Basically, after a bad accident at work, i've now got Sciatica which means no heavy lifting Problem is, i have gigs coming up soon and as you can see, I use an Ashdown 410T as my cabinet and theyre heavier than a horse. so, i need some recomendations on 4x12 cabinets that are cheap and lightweight as i've come to the conclusion i cant keep the Ashdown even though it's a great cabinet. Please help guys! I was even thinking of buying the Marshall MG412 guitar cabinet and fitting it with bass speakers and a tweeter which i know some other people have done before and it works a treat, and it's lightweight too. Cheers!
I've suffered from back problems on and off for many years, but the best advice I got was to stretch my hamstrings every day.Try it for a week and see if you're any better-works for me every time.I you sit a lot at work/during the day your hamstrings get very tight and cause all sorts of imbalances and problems.BTW I've got an Eden Nemesis 4 x 10 cab and it's very light, good sound and value for money. Cheers Iain

 6. Hi My friend has just given me these two basses to check out and see if there is any interest USA BC Rich Mockingbird serial no 81146 which is 79/80 I believe.Pretty standard I think although fitted with Badass bridge which is possibly aftermarket?Maple with mahogany? strips.I need to have a closer look but on initial inspection everything looks OK including neck.VGC Kramer XL8 8-string bass serial no A3207 which I think is 80/81.Has original small oval aluminium neckplate.Walnut with maple strips and in excellent condition. Can anyone give me a rough price guide for these basses-I can upload photos later if required Cheers Iain
 7.
I had this exact problem. It was a simple matter of re-soldering the circuit board joints. What I did find was that the act of removing the board from the case put some strain on the other joints, particularly for the input jack and all of the pots. I just touched up all of those joints and it has been perfect ever since. If you weren't the complete opposite end of the country I would offer to do it for you but it is a fairly simple job for anyone with rudimentary soldering skills.
Thanks for that-will check it out Iain
 8. Hi The standby switch on my Trace 300 watt 12-band SMX(1998) is not functioning as it should. When disengaged it commonly leaves the amp on full function, although after a certain time it will work correctly-the red indicator light works correctly, which is strange as I thought it would operate through the switch contacts. Is this a common problem?I have tried to flush/clean the switch with contact cleaner but it is a sealed unit so not successful.Do I need a new switch or is their a easier remedy for this, what switch type is it,and where can I get one if required? Also it looks like the switch is soldered into the circuit board. Is it a tricky fix? Hoping there's some Trace experts out there. Cheers Iain
 9.
Bit the bullet and ordered from US. It better work.
The same happened to my new P deluxe-I bent a few bits in the pot and it's been fine ever since
 10.
I am not sure the GK would have enough power. I nearly bought a second hand Jeff Berlin but couldn't quite agree a price as I am on the South Coast and would have had to travel to Wales to pick it up. I do wish they had put the amp down the back to reduce the size. I really like the look of the Mesa but I think the price will make it prohibitive. I would ideally like a 1 x 12 but appreciate for the money I have I may need to go 1 x 15 or 2 x 10 to get the volume I need. Anyone know of a bargain Mesa around ;-) Ever the optomist. Thanks Mike
I've got a Seco Cube 180W 1x12" combo if you're interested.Made by Tech Soundsystems(now Tec-amp I think)Would be looking for £250-they were about £550 new from the discount stores in Germany a few years ago Cheers Iain

 15. Hi I have the same bass, albeit a 1999 model, and the truss rod adjuster is 3/16" ,which equates to 4.76 mm. Hope this helps Iain
 16.
Yup, mine came today too! Not had a chance to plug it in yet, but I've slipped a couple of 9vs in for time being at least. I didn't realise it was sparkly green, not black
Seems like a nice bit of kit. What's everybody's impressions then?I was A/Bing it against my Sansamp.Very transparent but with the gain cranked gets a nice warm sound. The AGS does lift the level a lot when switched in but some good usable sounds there too from Jack Bruce to full-on distortion-could do with a level for the AGS as well. The Sansamp sounds quite coloured in comparison, but not in a bad way, just different.Need to play with it a bit more. 19. I've used both in 4 string and currently have MM Fatbeams on.IIRC the Sunbeams didn't last as long tonewise, but I did like the feel-think the tension was a wee bit less as well. The Fatbeams are very balanced and give nice round tone but do eat my frets a bit-that may be the way I play. Iain
 20. Anybody got their's yet?-still waiting patiently Iain
heya, what do you think of theses cabs? Any good? I've got a Warwick ProFet 3.2 head, and a matching Warwick WCA 211 Pro 2x10 cab. Its pretty quiet and I want to (most likely) buy a 4x10 cab to go with it. I had originally planned to buy the Warwick WCA 410 Pro, but after hearing it is total crap, I no longer want to buy it So, I am looking at the Eden Nemesis gear. I'm having a good look at the Nemesis N410RS 4x10 cab (http://www.eden-electronics.com/prod...bs/n410rs.aspx), but I cannot find much info on this. I particually like it because of its light weight. Are these NEO speakers? Anyone had a chance to try one out? I am also looking at the Nemesis N212RS (http://www.eden-electronics.com/prod...bs/n212rs.aspx), 2x12 cab. Again, neo speakers? Many many thanks for your help! Cheers Oh, and do they have speakon connectors on the back?
I've got the earlier NSP 410 and it's a brilliant cab-very light, punchy sound although it can take a lot of bass as well.At 103db(I think) it's also very sensitive and easy to drive.I run a Precision through a Sansamp into a 300 watt Trace and I'm rarely above 2 on the master volume, even in loud gigs.Bought for £220 as well-bargain Buy with confidence Iain
 22. Have a little bit of respect guys.He is performing an ancient song(or his interpretation of it) called "Ko Saicha" which the Kamikaze have traditionally played, sung,or listened to before entering battle.Haike probably died an honourable death after this performance. I know this because I have a Japanese mother-BTW I actually quite liked his playing Iain
 23.
I play violin and viola. I'm not sure how, if at all, it affects my bass playing. You either get it or you don't, I think. Piano is more helpful because it gives you direct exposure to harmony and counterpoint. However I strongly disagree with Yanto's statement that reading musing deprives you of the chance to be creative. That's like saying Grahame Greene would have been a better writer if he hand't wasted so much time reading books! Or have I missed your point?
I should have said "could deprive you"-The reason I say this is because I know a few classically trained musicians who are very competent in their genre but when asked to "swing it" would fall flat on their face-is this because they don't participate in a broad enough spectrum of music and it could be learned,or is it a personal thing with them, purely because everybody is different?I didn't mean that having a technical knowledge of music would limit your creativity. As you said people can either get it or not. Incidentally can you play jazz violin and jazz bass as well(if at all)-just interested Hope this makes sense
 24.
I'm an electric bass playing cellist & double bass player. I do teach upper strings as well (violin & viola). I don't know if playing orchestral strings makes you more melodic. Moreso in my case, I think that playing a lot of jazz as well as the rock/funk, etc., makes you think more about what else you can put into music as a bass player. Interestingly, a couple of my young ladies who I teach violin & viola respectively have recently started a bit of electric bass as well. Is there a link? Rich.
I suppose reading music in some ways deprives you of the chance to be creative-definitely with you on the point about jazz, although I can't really play it well.I bought an EUB recently and didn't find the transition too hard but my positioning is all over the place
