I have a new Jazz bass in my possession. It is a 1983 Squier JV. The scratchplate and control plate are new, the rest original.
  4. Thanks to everyone for the interest. This bass has now been SOLD
  5. I have someone coming to look at this today. I will get back to you if it doesn't sell.
Really quite fancy this! Fancy tempting me with a posted price?
6. I have been thinking about it. I have someone coming to look at it today, I will see how that goes.
Don't suppose you'd consider Parting out?
7. I would say wood adhesive is fine, but I am no expert.
  8. I have got to pay for it yet so you might get yours first!
  9. I am selling my Barefaced compact, black steel grill and roqsolid cover. It is only a few months old and immaculate. The only reason I am selling is that I have a super twelve coming and cant keep both! SOLD
  10. Awesome, congrats Mr Bilbo.
  11. pm'd
Love the stacked knobs and tort... may I ask where you got the knobs/plate from? I'd like to add them on my next refit.
12. Thanks. I should point out at this stage that the control plate has been 'aged', not by me but I bought it this way. It does look a bit false close up. Like someone has painted acid on it!
  13. Had a good gig at the kings in Okehampton last night. We thought it might be a bit quiet but as it turned out it was really busy. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the music and drinks. We even had a few dancers and singers at the front. I had my new/old Jazz bass for its first outing and I couldn't be happier with it. It has its own thread: HERE Along with the new bass I decided to ditch using plectrums too. I have been really trying hard to get the classic P bass with plectrum sound for a while now. I was never 100% comfortable with it as I have been playing with just fingers for 25+ years! So, comfy old jazz bass, no plectrum, and I loved it. The poor old drummer had a bit of a mare though so a rehearsal has been called before next weeks gig.
  14. Thanks.
very impressive!
15. The Harbourside, Charlestown. With Tumbao, a latin/funk band. Come and say hi if you do make it.
Where are you playing on the 29th? Might as well pop put and hear it in action!
16. Yeah, no probs for a fellow Cornish bass player. I have a gig in St Austell on the 29th Dec, or next time you are in Wadebridge gimmie a shout.
  17. Thanks, me too.
That does it for me big time!
18. I am considering selling this Precision bass that I have been gigging solidly for most of this year. The reason is that I have found a fantastic Jazz bass and after last nights gig I cant see me using anything other than Jazz basses again. I tried the P bass thing really hard but nothing works for me better than a jazz bass. Details: Body: Squier, vintage modified body in white with tort scratchplate. Thumb rest recently added. Neck: 1980s Squier Jazz neck. Refinished in satin nitrocellulose. Fake Fender Jazz decal added Pickup: Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pounder Electrics: Pots CTS 250k, switch craft jack, wiring by KiOgon Knobs: P bass, silver Bridge: Wilkinson It plays great. It sounds great. What more could you want? £180 ono
  19. I am selling this stack pot wiring kit. The pots are Alpha 500k dual concentric pots Black knobs Switch craft jack Wiring by KiOgon, with screw connectors, so no soldering 3 hole control plate £35 posted
  20. As promised here are some up to date pics. The scratchplate and stack pot tone controls have been added. I have some brass off cuts for the bridge but I need some time to fiddle with that. I know the stack pots are not correct but i much prefer them. The bass plays extremely well and sounds awesome. Even our guitarist said it sounded good last night.
