  1. It's got autolevelling which helps quite a bit. And there's a few of those huge ones on FB Marketplace for rather less than £8k: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/109126125773465/search/?query=creality CR 10 S5
  2. My bass doesn't go through the PA and we don't play venues where it's likely to, and any messing around with tone can be done in whichever multifx I'm using, or the amp, so an outboard preamp is completely unnecessary for me.
  3. After watching the first runthrough on that preamp video (admittedly using laptop speakers), I can't think of any reason at all that I would want a preamp.
  4. They're for my peace of mind and to help compensate for my innate clumsiness.
  5. You're not very good with English, are you? Try checking a dictionary out.
  6. Conversely, compressors in particular would compress the audible signal in response to a subsonic peak. I think it's one of those "whatever works for you" things with no right answer but something to be said for either approach.
  7. To do the joints as per the easy build cab, and also to do a bit of bracing.
  8. Because Juan Sheet is plenty. This has come about because I happened to have a Deltalite II 2510 knocking about, and fancied building a tweeterless cab a bit smaller than the BC 112 mk3. I also had lots of 68mm pipe left over from the 6" micro cab build. So I worked out a way of getting a 35l or so cab out of one 1220x610 sheet of 12mm ply. Sides are 445 x 305, front and rear panels are also 445 x 305 with the front panel set back 20mm from flush, top and bottom are 330 x 305, all of which dimensions are subject to a bit of tweaking as there's going to be a bit of surplus round the edges due in part to the accuracy of the B&Q saw. Not much to show so far, I'll be making holes tomorrow if the weather permits me to go into the shed without drowning.
  9. Well, that's the plywood and batten bought for the Plenty cab (because Juan Sheet is plenty). I wish I'd known exactly how inaccurate the B&Q saws were, I'd have risked cutting it up myself. Still, it's within a couple of minutes with a belt sander of being spot on. Next stage - holes.
  10. Are the stand-offs secure at the chassis end?
  11. The main source of interference isn't the pickups themselves, it's the big bag of dirty water that the bass is hanging from. A shielding layer protecting the pickups from the human will help.

  13. I considered that, but worked out that I could make a cab around 34l from one sheet of 1220x610 ply. Sides and front/rear 445 x 305, top and bottom 330 x 305 (actually 329x305), inset the front panel 20mm giving internal dimensions of 445 x 305 x 261. 35.4l initial volume, 0.76l for speaker, 0.46l for ports, about 0.5l for battens and so on = 33.68l. £16 for the plywood, I think I have everything else except a cab handle, corners, and a connector plate.
  14. They might be able to email you a QR code to use at a post office instead, and post offices sell Jiffy bags.

New Instrument 1 day. After the Artiphon Orba got mentioned in here, I went onto the website and the Instrument 1 fascinated me - a MIDI controller that can be picked/strummed, tapped, bowed, and drummed - one came up on Ebay and I bid and won it, then the seller cancelled the sale as "item lost or damaged", then a few weeks later it reappeared for £50 more, then increased to £30 more than that [1]. And then I saw one on FB Marketplace for £30 less than I'd theoretically won the other one for, so I bought that. I have had a small play with it - took a little while to sort it out as it had been set to send multichannel MIDI which I didn't realise until I plugged it in to MIDI-OX. I have yet to explore all its ramifications. It has built-in speakers but not built-in sounds - it acts as a USB MIDI controller and also a USB soundcard. There's an editor for Windows/Mac and an app for iOS, nothing guaranteed for Android. [1] I messaged him and offered him my original winning (and only) bid. He said he was running the auction to the end. No bids yet.

  16. Not joining Pink Floyd. I mean, it would have been nice to have been asked. Alternatively, a few bandless years after being very disillusioned by a singer/guitarist with a huge ego. I just couldn't summon up the will to find another band for some years.
  17. I'm completely at a loss as to what you're driving at. Could you be less cryptic? WinISD tells me that two 68mm ports just under 20cm long will do the job, Bill Fitzyoda confirms that, you seem to want me to acquire materiel that I don't need for no apparent gain.
  18. Got 15 miles down the road and decided that a 250 mile round trip in these conditions was asking for trouble so mission aborted, unfortunately.

  20. That's rather my point, I've got the best part of 2m of 68mm pipe left over from building the micro cab and using 40cm or so on a pair of ports would make me feel less wasteful. And I've got a 68mm hole saw.
  21. Myvolt do do a PSU for the Iso-2 https://myvolts.co.uk/product/50970/UK_12V_Power_Adaptor_for_the_Harley_Benton_PowerPlant_ISO-2_Pro_Isolated_Power_Supply_by_myVolts This is centre positive - I suspect that they will also supply a polarity reverser.
  22. Centre positive.
  23. No, it takes a centre positive plug and turns it into a centre negative plug, which is what you want.
