The toggle switches got here. I connected them up as per Bartolini's wiring diagram and (without buttoning everything up, just in case) tested it. Silence. Sticking my finger on the series/parallel switches gave buzzes. Putting a scope across each coil of the pickups showed a signal so I thought I'd check the signal across the output from the switch and realised that I hadn't connected the ground side of the pickups to ground. Well, that explained that. I sorted that out and now I have sound. Obviously I can't now say how the MK1 compares with the BH2s in the Ibanez because the Ibanez has Aguilars replacing the BH2s and the Cort has MK5CBCs replacing the MK1s. However, I will say that the MK1s when I was trying them had a balanced and full sound, not lacking anywhere. Not sure why they have a bad reputation, other than snobbery about made in USA versus made elsewhere.

I did a swap of a pair of Bart BH2s from an Ibanez EHB for a pair of Bart MK5CBCs, which had been permanently wired as parallel. I thought I'd make them switchable so got some 4-core cable and re-rewired them, drilled holes for and connected up the toggle switches, got silence, realised I hadn't connected the pickups on the ground side, sorted that out, and now I have proper sound. Woo hoo.

I did ask in the original survey and in the follow-up whether they'd be looking at headless basses.

When I visited @dub_junkie to check out a Bogart that I ended up not having, I had a play on a Klos 4-string that he had. I was rather impressed by it, but I play 5s and Klos weren't doing a 5. However, the website did say that one was coming at some point, so I put my name down as interested and a couple of days ago they sent me an email saying that their first 5 string sample will be out soon, in about a month. Could be interesting (OTOH, could spell the end of my life if I try and buy another bass). Here's a link: https://klosguitars.com/products/apollo-pro-5-string-bass

One tuner: Zoom MS-60B - works well for me One drive: Zoom MS-60B - works well for me One fuzz/distortion: Don't use them One envelope filter: Don't use them One octave: MXR Bass Octave Deluxe - impressive capability One modulation: MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe - also impressive One preamp (doesn't have to have DI out): Zoom MS-60B - just for EQ One pedal that does reverb or delay (or both): Zoom MS-70CDR for reverb and one wildcard... EHX C9 Organ Machine - who can resist an impressive swelling organ? No compressor though? TC Spectracomp if we should allow that too.

Compare to an actual auction house where you could be paying 30% seller's commission and the buyer could be paying 30% buyer's commission.

If you take lithium for a mood disorder, you could be rendered down for that. There may be as much as a millionth of a Tesla battery in your body.

Or unless you qualify for fee-free listings on Ebay and it's a fee-free weekend (or month, more rarely).

What's happened to the "Wanted" thread...

What proportion of the active membership are supporting members? Is there a fairly easy way to work that out? -
Another electric to acoustic one. I've done the acoustic version at an open mic night on occasion. Dave Grohl is better though.

That's looking very lovely.

The overall thickness of the body is 37mm so it's a millimetre thinner than you're down to.

Eich? Darkglass?

Gallien Kreuger? Freddie Kruger? Trace Elliot? Eliot Ness?

A fracture is a break. It's already there.

Eric Clapton, Layla. And the awful acoustic version.

Wireless system - Lekato, Boss or something else?
tauzero replied to ots's topic in General Discussion
That's what one of the guitarists has as a second wireless for use with his acoustic (plugged the receiver straight into the PA). My one reservation is that UHF might get RF interference. I used the WS-70s at a gig for the first time on Saturday (I had used them at an open mic before that) with no issues. -
Yes, I've mounted it with double sided tape. It also comes with shims to get it close to the strings. The cavity is 30mm deep, give or take a mm. https://www.roland.com/uk/products/gk-kit-bg3/ which can be used with https://www.roland.com/uk/products/gr-55/

And killed off the slower, weaker brain cells, leaving only the fit, healthy ones.

The Roland hex pickups can be adjusted in width to cater for different string spacings (albeit a little crudely as it's just varying the gap between the two halves) and can accommodate 4, 5, or 6 strings. I have two, both on 6 string basses. Sei Flamboyant with built-in kit: Sei pickup and controls (toggle switch does pickups/Roland/both, puchbuttons do patch up/down) Handmade (not by my hand) 6-string with GK3B externally mounted

Is there any reason that subs weigh a ton? Is a genuinely lightweight sub possible?

Inspired by Daisy Rock.

Must re-read them some time. Of Course I Still Love You. Funny, It Worked Last Time... Incidentally, the publication dates of the Culture novels are given in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_series
