The decimal point for the long scale 5 is (at least) one place over from where I'd need it. Plus there would be VAT too. Ouch.

The Jack (and B2/B2A for that matter) is a good bass - the 4-string version has a good neck, the 5-string version neck is a little on the chunky side. I had a 5-string Steinberger Spirit XZ-25 ages ago, I think that was a good bass, an XZ-2 would be worth looking at.

I've had a B2, a B2V, and now have a B2AV. The active circuit in the B2AV had some fault (can't remember what now, it's a long time ago) and I swapped it out, but the original has an active/passive switch which would answer your issue with batteries while giving the extra flexibility of an active bass.

Yes, I've gone 5GHz for as much as possible. If the power to the AC750 is inadequate, it just endlessly goes through the bootup sequence without getting to a stable state. I'm going to give it another test at home, it may have been a one-off at that particular pub.

More heft.

It's one of those TP-Link AC750s that I was using that started losing connection. You also have to be sure to use a good USB lead to power it.

Have you tried the amp with headphones to eliminate that as a possible cause?

To aid your grokking of sensitivity, it's a measure of how much sound you get out for a given amount of power in. The figure quoted is in decibels for 1 watt input, measured 1 metre from the speaker. So if they have the same sensitivity, you should get the same level of sound from each for the same input level. Further to this, doubling the input power to the speaker will increase the volume by 3dB. Quadrupling the power raises the SPL by 6dB. Doubling the perceived volume needs about an extra 10dB, which requires 10 times the amplifier power. Then you have to start considering your hearing.

Digital effects just sound digital.

When I was experimenting, I had the lid off and was able to see where the plugs went in the socket. They were positioned with the tip in the right place. However, I have now tried removing the chrome nut and washer under it, and with the plug pushed fully in, it's even worse. With the plug positioned at its optimum, so the spring contact is central in the groove of the tip, it's still at least as unreliable as with the nut and washer in place. I've bent the contacts and it's a bit of an improvement, still not 100% though but should be OK on a pedalboard. I shall seek out replacements for the sockets.

Don't worry, it was a good full explanation - it does seem a rather clumsy way of restricting lateral movement of bridge saddles.

I've recently bought second-hand an EHX C9 organ sound pedal, which initially tested out OK. However, at rehearsal when I tried using it, my swelling organ was cut off in its prime. A little experimenting then showed it was an unreliable connection to the output jack socket. I've done a bit more diagnosis since then. There are two output jacks, one dry and the other a mix of effect and dry. Both sockets behave similarly. It's not the lead, this has happened with several different leads. I think that the tip can be moved out of contact with the, er, contact. All of the springy contacts are, indeed, springy. I'm using Neutrik and Rean plugs. The sockets show no sign of moving on the PCB. The guilty sockets are at the top. I suspect that the little dips in the contacts for the tip are losing contact if the plug is moved a bit. This is going onto a pedalboard so hopefully there shouldn't be an issue over jack plugs moving, but I would like to solve it. I'm tempted to try bending the springy contact down a bit to make it a more positive contact. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue, and managed to solve it?

12V centre positive by any chance?

Having never had a Stingray, I just had a look at a few pictures and those poles, whatever they are, rather puzzled me, as on the 4-string Rays they're level, but on the 5-string Rays the G pole is closer to the neck than the B pole. Can anyone cast any light on that?

That would have been a 1976 Hayman 40/40 for me, and I know when it was made because I made it. Sadly, I've sold it since then.
