As your budget seems to be constantly expanding, you could also look out for an Ibanez SRF700 - fret-marked but not lined, lots of sound options. You might be able to pick one up for £500ish, less if you're lucky.

So now Happy Jack has a Mike Lull 5-string neck...
tauzero replied to Andyjr1515's topic in Build Diaries
Yes, presumably it's a zero radius fretboard as otherwise the frets would have to be like barrels. You can make out the frets flush with the fretboard in that video. That's why I thought a zero fret and cam to move the bridge height would have potential, although I suspect it would put everything a bit out of tune. I suspect he has a very light touch, as you'd generally have a little more relief in a fretted than a fretless neck and the mwah in that video on the fretless bit shows the neck has very little relief. -

Or have a zero fret which had two levels and a cam of some sort under the bridge. Given what the rest of it must be like to put together, probably relatively simple... -
Fitting tuners if headstock holes are too big

Hipshot adaptors from the UK? https://www.btnmusic.co.uk/product/hipshot-licensed-ultralite-adapter-bushings/ - out of stock though. Or maybe plain bearings - https://www.bearingstation.co.uk/products/bearings/plain-bearings-rod-ends/permaglide/cylindrical-bush?atts=650%2C651 -
I realise that it's a bit late to be asking this, but couldn't you have achieved the inversion required for bridging by reversing In+ and In- on the inputs on one side? Alternatively, by using a decent quality op-amp as a unity gain inverter?

Would this be any help?

Not weird, definitely wonderful…

DB relicing seems to be done to as haphazard a level of quality as bass guitar relicing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265770450035 -
I'm getting the same, Windows & Chrome, also tried with Firefox.

Neck Time - Looking for experience & suggestions
tauzero replied to SamIAm's topic in Repairs and Technical
I don't think an asymmetric neck is a reason for two truss rods - one of my Seis is asymmetric with one truss rod, no sign of any issue (and Sei necks are pretty shallow). It may also be worth reading through @skelf's ACG topic in the Affiliates section, I'm pretty sure he has a fair few posts about construction and pros and cons of certain woods from a constructor's view (I think he had a mutter about wenge at some point). -
Could it be a problem with the on/off switch itself? A short on either the switch or the IEC socket?

Have you considered playing sitting down and thus transferring the weight to your leg?
-
You didn't make it subtle enough. Trolling is a skill that needs careful nurturing, and you should limit your targets. I'm already covering Fenders, so try taking Rickenbackers or Music Mans.

Rather late to say yes now, but yes. It's a bit of exposure for you, possibly you can do some networking.

Tambourines. Not when operated by qualified persons, but when the singer leaves it dangling from the mic stand within reach of the audience and some deluded plsshead grabs it - the bloody things are audible over a full drumkit, let alone (as my previous band had) a cajon player, even a loud one. When the bassist is (as we so often are) the PA person too, and after getting the PA set up and everyone who's going through the PA has had their desire for a soundcheck satisfied, the rest of the band standing round looking somewhat accusingly at you as you finally get round to setting up the bass rig. A very minor peeve currently that could otherwise be a major one - guitarists who have to bring their own amp and cab to get their own sound. This is happening in the band I've just joined, but the guitarist in question is very prompt and had his rig and a second rig for the lead guitarist already set up when I arrived (on time).

Maybe she'll do an extended version of John Cage's 4'33".

Amputation, you know it makes sense.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying here. I've been on Guitarchat for ages. I didn't spot that there was a guitar section on Basschat. Maybe I just ignored the banner because I was already on Guitarchat and it was telling me to go to Guitarchat.

I thought I'd see what it was about, so I watched the "Incapable" video. It was four minutes of building to something which I thought would be tremendous, but actually turns out to be the same but with a bit of added percussion. Watch the first minute, and if you're not one of the target demographic (ie. it hasn't exactly captivated you) move on to about five minutes in, then sample a bit of the last minute or two. If it had been two minutes long, fine, but it was coming on for none minutes long. Anybody who likes that but criticises prog for self-indulgence should be smacked in the face with a Rickenbacker.

One night I went to a gig at a local pub, the band being known to me. The vocalist said shortly before the gig started "our trombonist's trombone has arrived but he hasn't. Does anyone want to play the trombone?". Well, I'd had a couple of pints by then, and I knew what embouchure meant, so I volunteered. I think I played brilliantly (I'm sure I hit at least one note spot on). Since then, I have had occasional thoughts of trying playing trombone again. Maybe even doing an interesting recording of trombone and fretless bass (definition of a minor second: a trombone and fretless bass playing in unison).

I didn't realise there was either. And it's got posts on it from 2015. Evidently neither of us have been paying attention.

I'm sure there was a BC event in Northampton post-Bassworld, I was never on Bassworld but came to an event in Northampton - the first of the bass bashes I've been to. IIRC, I met @ped@Dood@alexclaber(who had just picked up a new bass) and @seashell(or @Seashell2) among others.

Headless, of course. That's an easy way to lose a kilo or so of unsightly wood.

Neutrik combo sockets will accept 2-pole and 4-pole speakons, at least according to Neutrik. https://www.neutrik.com/en/neutrik/products/speakon-loudspeaker-connectors/speakon-chassis-connectors/speakon-combo I had to check as my Speakon cables are all 4-pole (I think), and I use them in combo sockets.
