  1. Asking for forgiveness rather than permission works as long as I don't deploy it more than about every other year. Most of the time, I show her what I would like to buy, and because I like to buy beautiful basses, she says yes.
  2. There's nothing special about the bassline. You've just downplayed its significance enormously, as it forms the backbone of the accompaniment, not to mention introducing the entire accompaniment motif on its own. Like I said, I play it as a bass and vocals number - it wouldn't sound anything like as good if it was played as guitar and vocals.
  3. It's a song Mrs Zero and I used to do as a bass and vocals number.
  4. Although it never got into the set list, the vocalist in the covers band did suggest "Youm sex am on foire". With a lineup of acoustic guitar/vox, keyboards, percussion, and bass, that was just never going to fly, especially as the vocalist didn't actually know the song and didn't want to listen to it in case it gave him some preconceptions, or summat. We had a go at it at a couple of rehearsals and it was every bit as bad as I expected, so it got ditched. It wasn't as if we needed any more songs to get p1ssed-up revellers dancing anyway. PS. To put this in context, we play mostly 80s music, including a fair quantity of reggae and ska.
  5. The Rocker was also 3-piece, but (like Travelling in style by Free or Relayer by The Who), it's something cover bands never play and no-one ever remembers.
  6. The question was "which act". As it happens, a couple of former bandmates are part of the backing band for an Elvis tribute, so there are Elvis tribute bands as well as Elvis karaoke tributes.
  7. If a little lopsided. I trust the preshape was also switched in.
  8. I had noise using a G50 and a Zoom B3n off a shared (daisy-chained) power supply - that's the B3n being fussy about sharing a power supply though. I used a Vitoos Iso8 power supply, which sorted it out.
  9. The repeated application of yoghurt to her nose may be having some side effect.
  10. Didn't he say that he never plays an active bass in active mode in his diatribe on tone? I may have extrapolated from him saying that he always plays in passive mode.
  11. Or try Warwick - https://shop.warwick.de/en/Parts+for+Instruments/Parts+for+Basses/Machine+Heads and look about halfway down the page at the Warwick machine heads. For example https://shop.warwick.de/en/Parts+for+Instruments/Parts+for+Basses/Machine+Heads/Warwick+Parts+-+Warwick+Machinehead,+Left+_Bass+Side_+-+Satin+Chrome at 13 euros a pop. I'm not going to pull the machine heads off my HB acoustic to check, but they look compatible.
  12. Put the replacement neck on the body, then get another body and put the graphite neck on that?
  13. It could explain why Thomann put items in their original packaging inside an outer box which is five times too big. The outer box is a crash structure. Did the violin and bow survive?
  14. I thought about that. You could do it with an Arduino - I even wrote the sketch (including the ability to do chords) and came up with a diode matrix to work from the switches, and then it ground to a halt. I was going to do it with ordinary push-button switches. You never know, I might even revive the idea.
  15. Roland PK-5A (as it says on the top). MIDI pedalboard. I might be swapping to a McMillen 12 step which I also have, which is smaller and lighter, allows chords to be programmed in (for use with a MIDI module) but does flex a bit on a carpeted floor and needs me to sort out a 5V USB power supply (not a big problem).
  16. It's not for attempting contact outside of Ebay, it's for supplying contact information via Ebay's messaging system, which is against their T&Cs.
  17. It contravenes T&C to share addresses via Ebay. If you have the seller's phone number (legitimately obtained) you can communicate with them outside Ebay. They specifically say "Please remember that we don't have control over communication unless it takes place through eBay." just in case you think they're monitoring your phone. I can't find anything in the T&Cs that prevents viewing before you buy. Have the people you've spoken to at Ebay provided you with a reference for this?
  18. Two minutes of research took me to https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/resolving-buyer-issues/contacting-buyer-bidder?id=4083 How to share your phone number with buyers You can also make your phone number available to buyers so they can contact you by phone before and/or after they’ve bought from you. You’ll need to opt in before you can share your number though. Here’s how: ... So it appears it's perfectly OK for them to contact you by phone, you just need to set it up so they can. I've just tried doing it and it's simple.
  19. The covers band I'm in has a cajon player instead of a drummer. He also has a brace of bongoes for added sonic variation.
  20. I like the playing. That chromakey filming, though, is dreadful. When the whole stage is visible, it looks like they're on the deck of a trawler in heavy seas, and when Rory's amp is in shot, it looks like it's wandering off somewhere. Add to that the lurching in for close-ups every now and again, and that is a video that should be heard and not seen.
  21. And I blame you for the moonlit sky and the dream that died with the eagles flight. But don't worry too much about it.
