Which variant are you talking about? I've got two GB10s, which both work fine except that for some reason the USB transfer doesn't seem to work on one of them. I can always just do a physical copy to the card if necessary. Pitch shift and slowdown work fine.

I suspect that attempting to get the intonation right on that will be doomed to failure. How much do pole pieces really matter?

The GT-PRO Steinberger guitar is passive, Godin's active guitars are the occasional ones with piezos and the specialist top-end ones, Line 6 cannot help but be active as they're modelling guitars (and basses). I think auto tuning is confined to the Gibson robot tuning system (which was a complete flop) and the Peavey AT200, which didn't retune the strings but instead applied pitch shifts to the individual strings, and lasted about a year. I'm not sure that there would be much point to a B-bender on a bass. Mark Philips has been producing scalloped fret basses for some years now, which shows the desirability of such a thing. In contrast, Warwick and Ibanez (examples off my wall) have been turning out active basses for years and are still selling established models.

I have computer desks upstairs in my teeny tiny office and downstairs, which is where most bass playing gets done. Office chairs with fabric seats in both places, with all the spammer-identified features, and the downstairs one allows the arms to be swivelled backwards out of the way to play bass. Each of them cost about £30 off Ebay. Plus when my employer shut our office as we were all working from home, I kept my office chair from there too - just got to find somewhere to put it. Just found one that has the same swivelling arms as mine: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295387127148 You can tell by the disc at the bottom of the arm - the button visible at about one o'clock on the perimeter of the disc is the arm release. It does mean that the arms move slightly when in the up position but that doesn't bother me at all.

One thing that seems a bit odd to me, but might be more obvious from a view of the internals, is the placing of the power jack. The general trend is for it to be at the top of the pedal but these are at the bottom.

I've got three - the Line 6 G50, Smooth hound, and a cheapie bug type which is a 2.4GHz one branded Muslady. The Line 6 is pretty rugged, except that dropping the transmitter onto a hard floor broke the battery cover. The Smooth Hound has been good though I do find the reversed polarity of the power supply a bit annoying. The Muslady has been fine - I bought it for rehearsals as I got fed up of treading on leads and I use minimal equipment in rehearsals, and finished up gigging it a few times. Can't tell any difference between them tonally.

Or pick up a HB bass plus a few sets of HB or Warwick Red strings, taking advantage of the free postage for the bass. Total bargain.

I think there are some Android apps that will play MIDI files via the USB connector - just trying to work out what will do that and how at the moment. More news when I've experimented further.

I've just gone round the room looking at six or seven of my basses, and in every single case the bridge saddles are adjusted with the greatest string length on the lowest string, whereas you've got the shortest string length on the lowest string. That seems very odd to me.

Is it just the one tuner that's missing? Not that finding a replacement is likely to be easy.

HX Edit 3.51 has been released (no new HX firmware though). Also, an updated driver for HX Stomp has been released to prevent crashes when using it with Cakewalk, which could well be handy for me.
