1. No, if the level gets too high it'll just clip and sound nasty. Within reason, of course, don't go putting a speaker output into it...
 2. This could keep on going till the cows come home. Quite a harrowing experience, really.
 3.
I remember when doing Boolean Algebra at college and we all had to produce a hypothesis and proof for a seminar, a cleverclogs chap in my class produce a very funny hypothesis that read something like: lennon AND McCartney > lennon NAND McCartney BECAUSE lennon AND McCartney = penny lane BUT lennon NAND McCartney = happy Christmas war is over + wonderful Christmastime. There was much more to it than this and the algebra was expressed correctly, unlike my version here.
XOR rather than NAND, surely? lennon.!mccartney + !lennon.mccartney
 4.
Dood, I always set the amp input gain so that it's just below the point where the pre-amp clips when I really dig in (I was under the impression this is the optimum setting?). With that in mind, if the B3 is in-line between the bass and amp, then presumably and effects that boost the signal, like a drive setting, will also clip the pre-amp? I didn't realise that fx loops have a stronger signal. Any reason for that? Surely they are optimised to work with all fx units (am I right in thinking that the implication is that some units work on different signal levels???)
As Dood says, the fx loop operates at a higher signal level - 1V peak-to-peak is the reference level, whereas a bass will typically output 150mV peak to peak. That's so that power amps and rackmount gear all have a consistent level to operate at rather than having to cater for a wide range of input levels, it's just the preamp (and effects pedals) that deal with the lower level signals. Raising the signal level up to 1V peak to peak means that noise becomes less of a problem as if you have a bit of noise of a few mV, it'll be much more significant with a lower level signal than a higher level one. Having tried a B3 in an fx loop myself, I can say that it wasn't happy.
 5. Back on topic, though, ears are rather sensitive to frequency as well as volume, so it might be worth playing in a different quay.
 6.
Finally, added the centre-join reinforcement:
Just how big is that cat? Great to see this. Are you coming along to the Midlands Bass Bash with interesting instruments?
 7.
And does Tubular Bells count as a concept album (if it hasn't already been mentioned)?
I was wondering the same myself - I suspect it would fall in the same category as ELP's "Pictures at an Exhibition" so it's a composition rather than a concept album (though Oldfield wrote it himself rather than just lifting Mussorgsky's work ).

 9.
BTW, did you know that Jimmy Tarbuck was in John Lennons class at school?
Who's John Lennon?
 10.
Tauzero are we the only AX3000B owners on Basschat?
A good question. There used to be be a few around. I haven't used mine for ages, I almost always use the MS-60B.
 11. I use a Hiscox case for a Strat for my Sei headless, which is similarly sized. Though I have used a standard bass case for it too, so I could put a Zoom MS-60B effects pedal in the headstock bit when flying to Munich.
 12.
This seems like a good opportunity to quote the late Terry Pratchett from one of his books: “The Monks of Cool, whose tiny and exclusive monastery is hidden in a really cool and laid-back valley in the lower Ramtops, have a passing-out test for a novice. He is taken into a room full of all types of clothing and asked: Yo, my son, which of these is the most stylish thing to wear? And the correct answer is: Hey, whatever I select.” So from this I conclude that the coolest bass is the one that I am playing at any given point in time
See post 67.
 13.
Experience, bosworth.
How big a sample size? I ask because experience of your posts generally points to you being something of a troll, so I'm inclined to take anything you say with a tablespoon or two of salt.
 14.
Until they break. Which they will.
You say this from experience or merely following the herd?
 15. Triumphs and Seis for me. And this is how to be informative about a motorcycle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKEuzxC4eGc
 16. Tecamp Puma, EA iAmp500 or 800.
 17.
As a newcomer to this thread and with far too little spare time to read 550 posts on what is apparently a one-off design for a small bass speaker cab, can anyone offer a brief digest, ideally less than 3000 words?
It's a one-off design for a small speaker cab. HTH. If you start at page 14, you should be able to get the gist of what it sounds like and how it performs. Basically a 50l or so ported cab with a Beyma SM212 IIRC.
 18. I can probably reduce what I'm carrying now as the guitarist has got XLR cables to run to the main speakers. Small suitcase (carry-on luggage size) with IEC cables, 6-way and 10-way mains extensions, XLR leads which I don't need as we've gone to wireless mics except for the times when the wirelesses might not work for some reason, XLR to TRS leads that I don't need to carry around any more but will forget on the one occasion that I need them if I don't, and a few spare jack-jack instrument cables. One small aluminium case for wireless, MS60-B, and the combined power and jack-jack lead to go between them and the amp. Second small aluminium case with amp, assorted speaker leads, and a second combined power and jack-jack lead just in case. Smaller aluminium case with wireless mics in it. Larger aluminium case with wired mics and drum mics in it that we never use.
 19.
I've recently bought an iPod touch ( same size as a phone) and I can't get the mobile version on it but I can my phone?? My phone will change from full site to mobile site but the options not there on the pod. Any ideas?
That may be because of the screen resolution which the site uses to determine whether to offer up the mobile version - it's quite high for a phone-sized screen, more like a 7" tablet.
 20. Is it perhaps time that the RNLI got involved, as the log may not only be in trouble itself but also pose a hazard to shipping?
 21. I like both bands and both players, though the one who is the more likely to have influenced my own playing is Entwistle. In both cases, I don't listen to the bass parts, I listen to the band.
