1. That's why God created sniping tools.
2. Thought it might have been a Yamaha SBV-500 but the remaining bit of body doesn't fit that theory and the headstock's a bit skinnier.

4. The free postage must have pretty much wiped out the profit...
5.
So an active bass with an uncoloured in bass pre-amp set flat is a passive bass? I see your point but the passive signal is boosted massively both in any pre-amp and amp itself and 'colour' is very often added.
I own several active basses and just one of them puts out a signal that is boosted compared to the passive signal (and even then, it's not by a huge factor). A Baxendall-type tone control needs (IIRC) a gain of 3x to maintain the same level of output as input, but that's the only gain in a typical active preamp. The change of impedance and the ability to use a tone control network with both boost and cut are the real points of an active preamp.
6. Quite a lot of ACGs are flat fingerboard - often to be found at a bass bash near you.
7. Is there any way of saying we'll be a couple? Only seems to be the option of buying one ticket at a time.
8. Is there any concessionary rate for couples?
9.
I'm probably going to regret asking, but Mr Pratt seems to be a 'marmite' character on this forum, what has he done to deserve that? He seems a pretty normal well rounded type of guy?
One of the professionally offended accused him of saying something racist, IIRC.
10. I'm pretty sure that Dave from Musical Exchanges, who sold me the Warwick JD Thumb that I have to this day, went there. No, I just took another look. Dave went to the Carlsbro shop just round the corner near Richer Sounds.
11.
A good few bands are just getting panned here, merely because people don't like the band. That is not the point of this thread surely. There are a good number of worshipped albums that I could easily diss because I don't like the artist. The real test of this thread is for those who are actual fans of a band's or artist's work to say that a particularly well regarded album is somewhat lacking in their opinion.
Queen - A Day at the Races - first stage of their descent into dreadful crappery Queen - News of the World - see above Queen - Jazz - see above Queen - The Game - see above A trend may be emerging here.
12.
Makes me wonder what critically panned albums we all love....
You really think a consensus could be reached on Basschat, where if there was only one person posting to a thread it would still end up as an argument?
13.
Donald Fagen, The Nightfly. Think I'm the only muso ever who doesn't like this. Those irritating 'clever' songs played so perfectly with no soul/feel. Liked early Steely Dan stuff, but then it all ended up sounding like this.
It's not just me then. I imagine every band in the world who's ever had a critically acclaimed album will find themselves in this thread. I'm going to go with anything by Rush.
14. I can see a way of doing DI on it, if DI was the only output you wanted and you didn't mind losing one effect slot. The Left/Mono output is also a headphone output, so if the final effect inverted the left output and sent it to the right side (and applied gain of about 4x to bring the signal from 150-200mV P-P to 600-1000mV P-P), you'd just need a stereo jack to XLR lead.
15. I'd forgotten about the Facebook page, possibly because I hate Facebook. Ta, and see you at Moffat.
16.
Would depend on the crowd. Osmonds covers for bikers, Megadeth for the local old peoples' home and so on...
Mrs Zero and I did a Metallica song in our set at the local old people's home, which went down well. The song suggestions so far are actually the set you'd put together if you were about to quit a band you really, really hated. To which I'd add Red Red f***ing Whine. All Right Now, and Ma Baker by Boney M.
17. Having read https://gear-otaku.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/zoom-b3n-bass-multi-effect.html (I love Google Translate), presumably access has been suspended until the official announcement in two days time at NAMM.
18. I want. I hope the fact that access to the page has been stopped isn't a bad sign.
19. As the covers band I've been playing with for several or eightal years is folding, I'm on the lookout for something else. Anything considered, both covers and originals. I'm in Tamworth, which puts Birmingham, Lie Sester, Nottingham and other places within 40 miles in reach. Good gear (note: I don't own, nor do I contemplate owning, any Fender-like instruments), own transport, all my own teeth and some of my own hair. Examples of my playing can be found at http://tauzero.co.uk/music/index.html
20. Has anyone mentioned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izNxtsC1b4k yet?
21. Alternatively, copy the direct link (http://i.imgur.com/xxxxx.jpg), click on the little square icon two to the right of the links of chain that looks vaguely like a picture, and paste the link into the dialogue box that pops up.
22. I've had several Mondeo estates, which are great, and currently have a Vectra estate, which isn't - load space is fine but the trim on the backs of the rear seats is held on by bits of plastic pushed into channels, which pop out as soon as you load stuff into it. Plus the tailgate switch stopped working just after I'd loaded up for a gig, so had to unload at the venue, load back up, and unload when I got back home through the back doors. The Vectra's steering pump failed and the garage lent me a Renault Megane estate while they fixed it. What a dreadful thing that was, and only marginally bigger than a Metro. Hated the stupid handbrake on it. Two members of the ceilidh band I was once in had a Zafira, which was an unreliable piece of crap. Then they got another one, which was an unreliable piece of crap. So I've decided that Zafiras aren't for me.
23.
My issue is that I also play in a 'Classic Rock' covers band and as yet, have restrained from introducing them to the Ibanez, purely because I don't think that the 'fancy woods' look looks right in a rock band. I'd be interested in everyone's thoughts
I will only play basses with fancy woods in rock bands. Those painted things look crap.
24. Is there likely to be a Bass Bash X in 2017, Alan?
25.
Edit: Oh and Tauzero - if you fancy bringing your Buzzard along I'd love to see that again
Sorry, the Buzzard has gone, replaced by the Esh, which itself will be going at some point as I just got the Sei Flamboyant 5 to add to the other two Seis. So I could have 3 Seis there now.
