1.
Classical guitars seem quite popular here. Is that because of the common use of fingers between basses and classical? I still feel I want to wait until I find if the Santos series models return.
I started on a classical guitar (to be strictly accurate, my brother's classical guitar) before moving to electric and then bass. I do have a couple of steel-strung acoustics in the house but not a nylon-strung one so it would add to the sounds I have available, if I ever get off my arse and start recording stuff properly.
 2.
CG300CE electro-acoustic classical guitar as bought by Shockwave (if I remember correctly.) Back again: http://www.thomann.d...0ce_nt_deko.htm
Saw that. Bought that. Let's see if there were any left.
 3.
Eh? Looked at counter, said exactly 82,000 views. Wrote "Nail on Head " and it had jumped 34 in 10 seconds!
Is that why you're being tautologous, with both "over" and "plus" in the title?
 4.
There's really only one course of action, in that case... get hold of one and use it at a gig.
I'm trying to sell a cab, not buy one...
 5.
Thanks for posting, I remember that thread. As the OP says it was very likely a Friday afternoon job and it did get sorted out pretty quickly. And it was six years ago.
Yes, looking back at my first post on the subject, I did say it was for the older generation cab but should perhaps have made it clearer that I wasn't implying that the new ones would suffer from poor QC. I suspect they went through a bit of an iffy patch. It does also seem that the customer service was good where there were faults. Haven't used a Schroeder myself, it was one I've considered and I don't think I was put off by the reports.
 6. Aha, found one of the references, and it was on BC: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/53995-schroeder-cabs-issuesforgotten/
 7. Fretless natural 5-string electro-acoustic is back up: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_b_35fl_nt_acoustic_bas_deko.htm
 8.
I'll have a look for that later. Mine isn't showing any signs of deterioration. It's ten years old, but to be fair it hasn't been toured or anything. I have it on fairly big castors, I don't know if that makes a difference... though it does tend to get used as a trolley for the rest of my gear.
It wasn't so much whether it would fall apart but the quality of the finishing where it wasn't visible - ragged holes in baffles, that sort of thing.
 9. If he didn't use any synonym for faeces then assume it to be a compliment. Note that the suffix "-hot" is a qualifier which reverses a synonym for faeces into a compliment.
 10. ISTR there was mention somewhere (here or TB, can't remember which) of the build quality of the older generation cabs deteriorating.
 11.
Not heavy though, it's a damn sight lighter than both my Wals.
Is it lighter than just one of your Wals though?
 12. In the ceilidh band I played in, I changed between a fretless Warwick Thumb (with roundwounds), a NS WAV-4 EUB, and an Ashbory Mk I. You might consider one of the Harley Benton bass ukes, just as something rather different and somewhat uprightish-sounding.
 13.
I've been back and forth on this one but have decided on headless. I think.
Statuseseses with heads on are just wrong.
 14. All our gigs are for money (charity ones excepted, but they've got to be proper charity, not someone playing at being a promoter). One pub I used to play at would also let you have free soft drinks all night, another couple would give you the first drink, and another one or two did free drink all night. The fact that I can't remember which pub it was that gave us free drink all night does show the hazard of having it (the two pubs I do remember were in Munich, and we're still waiting to get another gig there...).
 15.
I think some manufacturers quote a burst or "program" RMS (which is usually about 2x continuous RMS) and then quote peak as the peak-to-peak of that burst capability, thus their "peak" rating is around x4 their continuous RMS.
The burst type rating used to be called (possibly still is) "music power" in hi-fi systems, and, as you say, was generally double the constant rating, and it was generally "peak music power" therefore four times the constant RMS rating. There's some "measurement" called PMPO that can be found on some Ebay auctions for PC speakers. As 200W PMPO is apparently 4W RMS, that's quite a conversion factor.
 16.
ACG do fairly trad looking Fender shapes?
The closest is the J-type: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/basses/j-type/
 17.
I'd give the guy the benefit of the doubt and think he's put Warwick as the brand as the bass doesn't have an obvious brand name and it does ask you for a brand name when posting the ad. The bag is Warwick so I think that's why he's done it.
You do have the option of not putting anything in there. I do agree he's specifically stated that he doesn't know the brand in the wording, but there's something of the subliminal about where it is.
 18. I'm currently training a bunch of Indians to do my job so I can be made redundant, so music provides a bit of solace.
 19.
Back when I had a Warwick which could be waxed I generally done that once every fortnight or so but it was mainly just because I enjoyed doing it.
It's that lemony smell, isn't it?
 20. We rehearse for two hours a week and I practice a bit at home, mainly when learning new material. As we've got a surfeit of songs, some don't get played for a few gigs, so those get brushed up at rehearsal.
 21.
why?
Because no-one apart from the Beatles and the Stones have ever produced any music at all ever. Apparently.
 22. If you look in the "Item specifics" section, you'll see that the brand is given as "Warwick". Reported as a counterfeit.
 23.
tauzero is correct on most things but 1.414 is the peak (not peak to peak) of RMS. However if you are working peak power then it is twice RMS as both the voltage and current peaks are 1.414 time the voltage and current of RMS. So. 500 Watts RMS is 1000 Watts peak.
I thought that's what I said: "the peak-to-peak voltage of a sine wave is 1.414 times its RMS value, hence its peak-to-peak power is twice its RMS power" Power = V^2 / R
 24. The GK Neo II 1x12 would be worth a listen - they're about £200 each second-hand though you might want to save up for a second one.
