1.
The Who were relevant 50 years ago. Not today.
It's good to know that you're the arbiter of relevance. I don't know where I'd be without you.
 2. I've had gigs payed through both Events UK and Invapay. The venues or agencies have covered the fees. It would be nice to be paid on the night in cash but I'm not that bothered.
 3.
Maybe if you're a covers band but definitely not originals. I thrive off that it's us and them attitude.
When I saw The 'Oo at the NIA a couple of years ago, Roger Daltrey did the band introduction bit. Perhaps you should put them right.
 4. We do "Born to be wild" near the end of the set and Mrs Zero just briefly introduces us over the outro solo, no extra soloing for us. The vocalist of the club band I was in used to introduce us. One evening he said "I'd like to introduce you to my band". We all exchanged glances and looked daggers at him.
 5. Schecter also make (or made) an 8-string which I thought was a good player when I had a go on one.
 6. Couldn't you tune the B up a semitone, then put an A string on in the E string place and tune it to G, a D instead of an A and so on, all tuned down a tone, so you're tuned the same as the bottom strings of the guitar?
 7. Roger Daltrey, Meatloaf, Alice Cooper Tasmin Archer, Alison Moyet, Mrs Zero And lots of others.
 8. Variax, that's the way forward.
 9. Something just reminded me of "Windmills of your mind" by Noel Harrison, a classic song and the only one of his three singles to chart in the UK.
 10.
here's another one I don't think has been mentioned Hedgehoppers Anonymous, It's Good News Week, a cracking record that doesn't get played because it was written and produced by Jonathan King
Which is probably why "Johnny Reggae" by the Piglets hasn't been mentioned yet.
 11. Mrs Zero keeps telling me I should look like I'm enjoying it. I am really, I'm just a naturally miserable looking person. Incidentally, at the Moffat bass bash, the drummer who works with Colin Cunningham and also played with Dave Swift for the afternoon session looked like he's swallowed a whole bottle of Prozac.
 12.
I always look like I'm bored, hating every second of it, and would rather be drinking the contents of my own bladder, than be on a stage playing bass. Mainly because I find it boring and I hate every second of it.... Seriously, I hate playing most gigs.....
Perhaps you should try a 5-string?
 13. And after being reminded of one hit wonders by seeing John Williams, how could I forget the double album Sky 2?
 14. We do it. I like it, in fact I suggested it.
 15.
I like Ritters but that's pretty awful....
That's lovely apart from the gold icing on the pickups. Although I wouldn't bother with the black diamonds and mammoth tusk, perhaps he'd do one for me without those bits for £100.
 16. Watching a BBC4 programme on John Williams at the BBC reminds me: Cavatina - John Williams Toccata - Sky I think those both pass the Big Red X test.
 17.
Their follow-up single "Power Of Love" also made the top 40.
Where do you draw the line for 'hit'? Personally, I'd say something should be at least top 20 to be a hit, you see it as top 40.
 18.
If there's a 'moshing community', I for one would like to see some footage of their AGM...tea and buns everywhere...
If there's a community, I believe it's mandatory to have a community leader, though I've never been sure how they get elected.
 19.
Back to the source for me - you can't beat the simple brilliance of Leo's 51 and 57 P Basses. Anything you can't play on a P isn't worth playing, IMHO.
And anything you can play on a P, you might as well play on a decent bass instead.
 20. Another vote for the Peavey Grind. Also there was the Peavey Zephyr - if you can get on with a slightly fatter neck than the Grind, it's a great bass which oozes quality. I couldn't so I haven't got mine any more.
 21. Focus 3 - just drop Anonymous II. Then package it as a double album with Moving Waves.
 22.
0.3mm is way too much twice to three times to much on average.
3mm is too much, 0.3mm isn't. One is ten times the other. That's for relief, not 12th fret string height.
 23.
In the 70s though, if you were a "serious" rock band you didn't really do singles. Your audience were all album buyers. ... And I thought that Led Zeppelin had a strict no singles policy?
I thought as you did on both these, but look at the number of singles Sabbath, Floyd, Zep, and Genesis released. Zep released 15 singles. And Jethro Tull released 33, with two making it into the top 40 (in fact the top 20).
 24.
I'm not denying that it was a one-hit wonder. It was posted more as a piece of pop trivia. Most artists achieve one-hit wonder status because they only have a single song worthy of being a hit.
I did a little digging around for surprise one hit wonders - I mentioned Black Sabbath who did have another couple of top 40 charting singles, but released a whole lot more. Pink Floyd were another surprise as though I knew they had at least two and possibly three hits (Arnold Layne, See Emily Play, Another Brick in the Wall), they've actually released 27 singles. And Led Zeppelin have a rather pathetic one song getting to number 21.
 25.
There's a famous Niro and a famous Nero. Dammit, I'm too well educated for this place.
PS. Nero, of course, didn't actually Fiddle as the violin hadn't been invented at that point, not was he actually in Rome when the fire broke out though one might implicitly think he was. He did perform on the lyre, however. Exactly how well is impossible to say as he is unlikely to have had any critics.
