1. Roqsolid or (in the case of the Bergs) manufacturer soft cover for cabs - to protect against scratches or gouges rather than significant impacts. Ditto for the Mackie SRM450 PA speakers (the bags also function as trolleys which is nice). The amp is a Tecamp Puma 900 which is tiny, comes with a gigbag, and fits (in its gigbag and with speaker, jack-to-jack, and mains cables) inside a B&Q aluminium case.
 2. And English bassists too, Moffat is border country. It's not like it's in Aberdeen.
 3. Unwanted present. Much like education was part of an unwanted past.
 4.
I've often debated being that myself because of my previous post but I cant be bothered for a band that I dont really enjoy the type music we play, and because the others decided to find the gigs.
If you don't really enjoy the type of music you play, the only reason to stay is the profit. Seeing as there is a negative profit, it's time to leave.
 5. I do the occasional dep for my old club band and we don't rehearse for those at all. The main covers band will probably wind down rehearsing level because we're gigging quite a bit now and have a pretty stable line-up of material. If it's a covers band and you're playing the songs pretty much as per record, it's up to people to practice at home to avoid rustiness.
 6. As I said earlier, I made a best offer on that of £55, JJW offered him £25, and ambient tried £1-50, and there are offers of £55, £1-50, and £24-99 listed. So it looks like it works.
 7.
It seems that he accepted an offer of £1000 for it. Not too sure about that as the offer is dated the 25th Feb 2015, and it's only the 24th. It was amusing to see all the other offers. Apart from one of £250, most of them were in the £50 or thereabouts range. Some where £1.50 and so.
How did you manage to see the offers? I had a look but can't see them.
 8.
Is it a secret? I'd be interested to know who the top three are......
http://gearpipe.com/best-sellers-top-10-best-selling-bass-combo-amplifiers-at-guitar-center/ Crate, Behringer, Ampeg. http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_amps.asp Laney, Fender, TC Electronic. Take your pick.
 9.
Im currently designing a concept valve amp/bass speaker for a uni project to take to market. its in early stages of development but will be constructed of plexi glass and lit with colour strips. Im looking for market feedback regarding interest in the product.
Lexan might be a better bet than plexiglass, though either would be heavy and I suspect difficult to tame acoustically. It's an interesting idea but not one that appeals to me personally. You might be better off looking at the practice amp or small combo end of the spectrum, there's a lot of smallish black boxes out there and this would certainly stand out.
 10. It was best offer accepted. Wonder when it'll turn up next?
 11. Because they bought it here perhaps: http://www.dx.com/p/57-guitar-effect-pedal-ocd-ultimate-drive-white-283738#.VOu2Ly7RaYg
 12.
Really? They're certainly not super rare.
Butbutbut the seller says they're ultra rare. Surely that can't be wrong?
 13. Someone's bought it, so someone was more insane than me.
 14. although I'd go for the parallel neck option
 15.
My main bass and amp is a Variax and an Ashdown, not so sensible now eh?
My main guitar is a Variax, and I've owned and admired two Ashdown amps, so obviously you're very sensible.
 16.
As for the grammar, are we really that shallow as to say that someone shouldn't get a band together if their grammar isn't spot on? I'm sure we all understood the advert anyway. I thought the Basschat community was better than this.
I think it's good that they're trying to get a band together. For a novice, the words "enthusiasm more important than ability"[1] are rather less off-putting that for someone with a few years experience. But what's wrong with taking enough care over an advert to get rid of grammar and spelling mistakes? While this is merely an advert to try to add the missing member of the band, at some point they'll want gigs or to increase their following, and social media are now very important. I don't think I'm alone in saying that carelessly written posts to Stalkbook and the like would irritate me rather than make me want to go and see them. A bit of extrapolation, perhaps, but where should one start taking care? [1] No, they're not in this advert. But they are in a lot of similar ones.
 17.
This will be the same Stewart Ward that builds and sells transistor-powered Session Amps? He's done pretty well with them, but clearly he does have a vested interest! BTW I am not knocking Session Amps - I used to own one of the guitar combos, and it was very good for a solid state amp.
After that mention of him, I went googling and found this http://www.award-session.com/pdfs/GEAR_TALK_1.pdf which is very interesting and only has a few Session commercials in it.
 18. I thought it might make a reasonable basis for a 5+5 tapper (especially as it has 10 string anchors). But £55 is still not enough for him. What does he want, the moon on a stick?
 19. Wishbasses are designed not to have truss rods. That's different to designing something with a trussrod which then doesn't work.
 20.
I couldn't even read it. It's far too poorly written! Also, what's up with all the... When did people start using three full stops to end a sentence?
Well, it's poorly spelt and shows definite signs of illitrucy, but the ellipsis has been around a long time. Read some Arthur C Clarke if you want to see liberal use of it...
 21.
Drives me nuts, which is why I finally 'relented' and arranged a completely different 'rock' version of the most requested song 'wonderwall' just to shut them up and to date a sense of mischief
I kept suggesting to my old covers band that we do "Cum on feel the noize" as Oasis covered it (mind you, not the bloody awful Oasis cover version, do a decent cover of the original).
 22.
Shame, those VM Fretless look really nice to me, for a £300 bass. He's had a go at adding beefy electrics and made the whole thing into firewood. I wouldn't want that at any cost, let alone £250. To me that's more of a Frankenbass than any of the relics Ive seen. I guess he knows he's ruined it, and is trying to get his money back out of it. Good luck.
Hardly ruined, nor firewood. A couple of minor cosmetic issues on a budget bass is hardly the end of the world, the hole in the front could be put to some use like low battery indicator or DFA switch. I wouldn't want it at any cost either, but I wouldn't have any Squier or Fender at any cost anyway (not unless I could sell them on straight away for a nice profit).
