1.
It would be very bizarre indeed to have an 8 ohm 8x10...
A little surprising, maybe, but all you'd need to do is use 16 ohm drivers, 4 in parallel in series with another 4 in parallel or a variant thereof. That way, you could have two 8x10s for that true smashing-the-walls-down experience, and take up all the floor space at the Dog and Doublet.
2.
I've tried it both ways. Both cabs, on their own, are quite different. But when you put 'em one on top of the other - it's real hard to tell the difference ..... if there is any real difference to hear. Depends where you stand. If you are standing right beside them - then you can hear the different cabs. Take yourself more than three yards away - and they sound like one combined bass sound. To me ................. and I don't really care what so called experts who know a lot more about me and can say "says it all" say. That's what I hear and that's what I think.
You'll get floor coupling with the lower of the cabs - whether that makes any significant difference in this case, I don't know. You could experiment - put them one way round and play through just the 1x15, then just the 2x10, then swap them over and see if the sound changes noticably.
3. I have the Tecamp 900 and that does the job for me - clean and plenty of lows (I do wonder what cabs k50 was running his with, with Berg AE112s mine is fine). Another one to consider is the EA iAmp800. Still under 10kg but a fatty compared to most of the others on the list, hi-fi but with a sound I can best describe as creamy.
4. Thinking further on it, does the Superfly take MIDI through the USB port? It's so long since I had mine that I've forgotten. If so, you don't need the MIDIsport, just one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-MICRO-UB-DEVICES-SAMSUNG-S5-99P-PRICE-MICRO-USB-TO-USB-OTG-CABLE-/131468881164 and your USB lead and MIDI Commander.
5. I used to stack two GK Neo IIs on their sides like that and never had any issues.
6. "Kayleigh", I think. "Don't speak" went down well too. One which has surprised us with the response we've had is "One of us" by Joan Osborne, played slightly faster than the original.
7.
What REALLY annoys me is modern management-speak, of which there are a good few examples in this thread. Not a day goes by when some jumped up little gobsh*te tells me that "we need to be mindful of having a conversation with x in respect of y" rather than "we should talk to x about y" etc etc
"Leverage" as a verb. I hate, loathe, and detest that, especially as no-one has a clue what they actually mean by it.
8. Possibly 1/16". See this chart: http://mdmetric.com/tech/cvtcht.htm
9. Wonderful job - shame about the F-holes though. Is there no way you can blend in a colour to closely match the sunburst?
10. Couldn't you just get new saddles?
11. I'd say the main purpose of a capo on a guitar is to change key to make fingering more convenient, so that a singer can be accommodated without having to play in something like Ab. But what would I know, I've only been to hundreds of open mic nights...
12. Good job for my bank balance that it's not 5+5.
13.
Suddenly I have an urge for a 5 string, although having tried a Squire, I did not like it all.
Speaking as one who has owned (briefly) a Squier 5 along with many other 5s, I would say that that's because the Squier 5 is quite an unpleasant bass to play and there are many, many better 5s out there.
14. Though my Sei is a lined fretless, I had the markers moved so that they're on the fretlines instead of between them, as I just want to be able to glance down for positioning and not refer to the fretlines. I'd rather it was unlined but that would have meant buying a new one...
15. I don't play much with a plectrum but when I do, I generally alternate down and up and can start on either the up or the down, except for "Doctor doctor" where if I start the verse on the upstroke, it completely throws me (it's probably the uneven beat that does it).
16. It was a bit speculative - The Tweets were trying to get it used for golf coverage on the BBC, much as "The Chain" is used for Formula 1, but failed miserably, as did Abba with "Eagle".
17. I almost always use a Sei Original headless fretless 5-string. I've had about half a dozen people so far come up to me and say "Lovely bass. What is it, an xxx?" where xxx was most recently Lakland (I must say, he got the pronunciation right) and I think has included Rickenbacker in the past. Funnily enough, neither Status nor Hohner has ever featured as xxx.
18.
Personally I'm looking for something a little simpler with a much smaller footprint.
Android phone with OTG support and the MIDI Commander app, OTG to USB adaptor cable, USB cable to a M-Audio Midisport 2x2.
19.
Sorry, I don't see the relevance of what you're saying here? & why would I be limited to one hour?
Per means "for each". So "per cent" means "for each hundred", and you're saying that you can't go over that hundred. Therefore, as "per hour" means "for each hour", by the same logic, you can't go over that hour.
20.
a mischievous part of me... is wondering whether I could pull it off onstage.
Risky, I'd say.
21. Peter Green wrote "Albatross" about a superb shot on the 3rd at the Belfry.
22.
I'm sorely disappointed that I only appear in the results with one of my worst ever photos of myself. On the other hand, there's one nice photo of Laurence Cottle at the Herts bash which comes from one of my blogs, and three pics of our gorgeous Ped modelling BC polos
I recognised Ped. Was that Nikki Lauda in the next row down? Now to try it with quotes...
23.
I promised myself I wouldn't get too involved in this, but, in response to icastle, no I wouldn't use 110% to indicate an increase any more than I would score something as 11 out of 10! & tauzero, if a cake had increased in price by four times it's original price...then it's an increase of four times, not 400%. However, my waistline has increased by eating too much cake!
Assuming you're driving in the UK, you measure your speed in miles per hour. You'd feel pretty silly if that meant that you couldn't travel for any longer than an hour and you needed to get from Birmingham to Edinburgh.
24. Interparcel/UPS. If there is a problem, though, deal direct with UPS rather than Interparcel (who have a premium rate number for you to contact them on). I've only ever had one sort-of problem, and that was minor (can't remember exactly what).
25.
I enjoy winding up my guitarist by referring to his guitar as his "Epiphany". It is of course "Epiphone", but as soon as he bit once..... I can't help myself now
When I first saw the name "Epifani", I mentally pronounced it "Eppy Fanny" before it clicked.
