1.
Anyway, consider this... Early sixties jazz bass, routed for an extra pickup... devalued? You'd think so. What happens if you have non questionable evidence that Leo himself did it?
Well, that makes it a prototype and you put an eye-watering price tag on it. What about if it was done (not by Leo Fender but, let's say, John Diggins) specifically for Jet Harris or Tony Goggle?
2.
OK... but how do you find out which is the "right bass" without trying lots out first? Any maybe adapting them to suit your own individual preferred sound, look or playing style?
Well, for a start, if you're going to mod something, don't buy a Fender (good general advice anyway, I think ) I'm in favour of modifying basses to your requirements. If part of the reason for buying the bass is its resale value and modifying it would reduce that unacceptably, it's time to sell it and find one that you are willing to modify or that suits you better in the first place.
3.
Shame im not nearer. Threw out my old computer chair. But this new one is contributing to me getting typists elbow im sure. Strange thing is I never get it on my bass
Don't the pickups dig in a bit when you sit on the bass?
4.

But, again, a fuse in the mains plug doesn't magically make things much safer - or are you suggesting that all our European and American members are at greater risk than UK members?
Well their mains is 115 volts lower than ours and all the sockets are fused anyway, if the socket is fused you don't need the plug to be fused as well.
USA mains is 120V but European mains is 230V. Just a minor point...
5.
Too many people get a bass then whip out the tool box. Leave them alone. Concentrate on playing them better not frigging around with the wiring.
Or get the right bass in the first place.
6.
Hmm, the same logic would suggest that square waves don't exist.
They're the product of an infinite series of odd-order harmonics (which is why clipping produces a sound which has lots of odd-order harmonics in it). But in the real world, there's things like slew rate and damping to consider.
7. You appear to have posted this in completely the wrong place...
8. I've just bought a Hohner B2V which is in very good condition but I suspect has never had any truss rod adjustment. The truss rod adjustment is very stiff (it needs tightening). While I've managed to get it about where I need it, I would like to get it moving more smoothly. I was thinking of slackening the strings and just undoing the truss rod nut all the way, then oiling up the thread and putting it back together. However, before I do that, I would like to make sure that this is a reasonable approach, and also that I won't cause myself insurmountable problems if I do so. So, can anyone authoritatively tell me from their own experience whether removing the nut on a headless Hohner is an easily reversible operation that will have no detrimental effect?
9. Mike just bought an EA iAmp800 from me. He dropped in to pick it up and we had a pleasant time chatting. Good to do business with.
10. Do I sound like I'm obsessed with breadcrumb arrows? They're still gone.
11. Came into work today and found the unread posts buttons and breadcrumb arrows aren't showing again. Tried F5, Ctrl-F5, reboot, and clearing cache, all to no avail (Firefox 17, Win XP). Is it just me?
12. I started on guitar, decided to take up the bass duties in my then band as the other guitarist was probably better than me, then when I moved to Tamworth went looking for a band as either guitarist or bassist. Bassists being rarer, that's where I finished up. I still play guitar, and use guitar to write songs (so I have to start working out bass lines for my own songs after telling the guitarist what to play).
13. Either you can go onto That Ebay and buy a Markbass 102P traveller for £429 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Markbass-trv102p-bass-cab-/130806301249 or you can go to GAK and buy it brand new for £421... http://www.gak.co.uk/en/mark-bass-traveler-102-8ohm/17805
14. The power supply may run two separate lines to the preamp and to the power board. It would be worth checking that you have a supply to the power amp before replacing anything in the amp module.
15. And the arrows on the breadcrumb trail are also back - not that they're of any great significance of themselves, but they do seem to be associated with the "view next post" buttons and presumably generated in the same chunk of code.
16. Count me as another one who prefers the old marketplace - partly because the marketplace is part of the forum, while the classifieds section is outside it. I'm not particularly happy with the case adjustment on the advert headings - I just put up an advert for an EA iAmp800 in SKB rack case, and, presumably parsing the first two letters as both upper-case and assuming I'm an imbecile who posts everything in upper-case, the software has reset the whole lot into "I'm An Imbecile Who Posts In Upper Case But This Is Less Shouty" case. EA iAmp800 in SKB rack case - good Ea Iamp800 In Skb Rack Case - bad I notice that there's a PRS (sorry, Prs) seller who's suffered the same.
17. Right, finally finished it and got organised enough to be ready to pass it on.
18. Through-neck passive bass by Peavey, probably made in Vietnam. There's not an awful lot of information about them out there. Two soapbar pickups each with volume and tone control, laminated neck (I suspect maple and mahogany), body has darker facing wood (my research brings up the possibility that this is koa) and a contrasting light-coloured core wood. Were it not for the fact that the neck's a bit deeper than I like, I'd be keeping this. I've bought a Peavey Grind as back-up to replace this - I prefer the neck but the general quality of the older Zephyr seems higher. Dimensions - Scale: 34" Bridge string spacing: 16 mm Neck width (nut): 1.75" Neck width (12th fret): 2.25" Neck depth (top of 1st fret to back of neck): 22 mm Neck depth (top of 12th fret to back of neck): 25.5 mm I've used this in the studio for a few tracks which can be heard here: http://www.mixedherbsband.co.uk/songs.html I used this rather than the active bass I also took in because in the studio control room the active bass picked up some interference which the Peavey didn't. There's a couple of small dinks on it, nothing of any significance. Looking for £275 plus shipping.
19. If you go for separates rather than a combo, you have the option to go for a lightweight cab now and then get a lighter amp some way down the line. You're not tied in to changing both amp and speakers at the same time. Plus you have flexibility in the combination, eg. you could have a Genz Benz amp and Tecamp cab.
20.
Someone got a bargain for £1200
Not even that much, £1120. The buyer might need new suspension after taking that lot home though.
21.
The "go to first unread post" buttons have gone missing again...
And along with them the ">" markers in the breadcrumb trails, although at least we now have all the breadcrumb trail components back again.
22.
Buy this now! http://www.gak.co.uk...-210t-xb2/76743
69lb for a 2x10? Do they use double the thickness of depleted uranium that Trace Elliot use to line their cabs? Bargain if you can lift it.
23. Why do sellers constantly mis-advertise Squiers as Squires? Especially when it's written on the sodding headstock...
