1.
This is amusing. Inflated ego meets troll.
Which is which?
2. There's someone posting in items wanted for a Tecamp combo and you've got at least two people interested in the 2x12...
3.
I don't really see that a 5 string is wholly necessary and I think, I you want to play a 6 string bass, then you seriously ought to consider being a guitarist. Not my cup of tea either, but I know that a lot of people swear by them - and they possibly play styles of music that they will argue require those devices.
Oh yes, I'd forgotten you were a Fender player.
4. What would your definition of a 12-string guitar be? And what is your definition of a 6-string bass?
5. For sale due to purchase of a Tecamp Puma: EA iAmp 800, black face. I think there are several variants of this amp - this has a level meter, both series and parallel effects loops, and a tuner out, but not a built in tuner (which I understand was in some versions). Manual is here: http://www.eaamps.co...P800_man_v8.pdf I bought this about a year ago and have gigged it a few times. It's been utterly reliable. It's installed in a shallow 2U SKB rack case which is a perfect fit, doesn't move around in the case. The rear lip does obstruct access to the lower of the two speakon connectors slightly, but this would be easily remedied by cutting away a little bit of ABS. As I just use one cab, I haven't bothered. The handy X-shaped recess in the top is excellent for stopping smallish things like specs and tuners falling off. Weight is about 10kg/22lbs with the rack case (uncased it would be 19lb). Looking for £400 plus shipping if necessary - collection from Tamworth (or possibly West Bromwich in work hours) welcome.
6.
Talk about fake rickies take a look at this lot, we’d better tell the CEO about this it on evilbay Item number 230878499400 what a hoot. “Sound Cartel” wah whatever next.
It doesn't (from what I can gather from what's been posted on the subject by Those Who Know) infringe Rickenbacker's trademarks, as those are the headstock and Rickenbacker logo. As far as the general attitude to fakes is on here, read through a few of the threads on fake Fenders. There's quite a few members who know enough to be able to spot fakes (as in instruments where the seller is attempting to pass them off as Fenders, not just instruments that look like Fenders) and who will then report them to Ebay. There is also a degree of antipathy to RIC's extremely zealous trademark protection, which quite possibly goes beyond what they are entitled to do if what has been communicated about trademarks is the case and the whole case, as they pursue sellers who are selling instruments which they specifically state are copies, hence not attempting to pass them off as Rics at all.
7. Just bought some Graphtech bridge saddles and a Hexpander from Noah. All went perfectly smoothly.
8. Just bought a Tecamp Puma 900 off Ryan. Everything went smoothly, though the courier (Hermes via Interparcel) was glacial in pace which just increased my anticipation...
9.
Baaaaaarrrrrr-gain....http://www.gumtree.c...ery-item-full-2
It would have been rude of me to ignore that, especially as I had to drop a few drums off in Coventry where it was...
10.
As I've mentioned in another thread, I remember Gary Moore saying If you walk into a room where you keep your guitar and not feel the need to pick it up, then maybe it's not for you.
But didn't he also say that if you can walk into a room, you haven't had enough to drink?
11. When I'm using effects, a Zoom B3 (mainly for chorus, also for phaser, slow attack, octave up, octave down, and very very rarely a little bit of distortion).
12. Hendrix is familiar by name to at least 95% of non-musicians who listen to rock music, and his work is familiar to 95% of musicians who play guitar. Jaco is familiar by name to less than 5% of non-musicians who listen to rock music, and his work is familiar to 5% of musicians who play bass. One of these days I'll have to get round to having a listen to him. McCartney, Wyman, or Entwistle would be the ones who got the popular recognition, and I wouldn't exactly describe McCartney or Wyman as mould-breaking.
13.
Needing a bass for Eb tuning is a great excuse for a new one '. I have 2 bass's what excuse though to get a headless as well?
That's easy for me, I just pointed out that when we play on small stages it means I don't stick the head in Mrs Zero's ear. Evidence below...
14.
That's a blast from the past. Is it just me, or is the E string a little but close to the edge of the fingerboard up at the dusty end?
The intonation adjustment screw for the E saddle looks to be pointing off to the side whereas the A string screw seems to run parallel to the string, so it could just be that the saddles need a bit of shifting around. Is that the right bridge for a Marathon? My old Hayman 40/40 had a rather different design, not a BBOT clone.
15.
Surprised the Rickenwaffe haven't spotted these however very wisely no reference to the name or headstock pics. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649
Both didn't sell, both relisted, both shot down in flames.
16.
Why have they gone so pricey so suddenly?
Automated pricing? http://www.michaeleisen.org/blog/?p=358

Owen - Feedback

Just bought a piezo bridge from Owen - all thoroughly painless.
18. A quick check on UPS's website shows that their standard delivery would be £70 (I used Canterbury to Edinburgh for distance).
19. Singer in one of my bands sometimes hits the top of his range. The guitarist always has two guitars on hand, one tuned a semitone down (used for numbers which are normally a semitone down anyway), so if just swapping guitars is what's needed, that's what we do. I think there's one song which we had to bring down quite a way - "Keep on running". We needed to bring it down to E, but the guitarist needed it in F for his fingering, so he uses the downtuned guitar for that too.
20. Not hard to find a website (googling "fox star bass" gets you straight to http://www.woodviewenterprises.com/FoxStarBass.html ) and it would appear that the bass would have been made in Brazil, so the top UK luthier would be someone else. I must say the Amazona B3 5-string acoustic bass looks jolly nice (as does the Star base on That Ebay, come to that).
21. I had one - very handy for carrying round on a motorcycle. Good little bass.
22.
I've wondered why somebody hadn't done this before...I've got a spare headless system for just this kind of thing (finding a good bass with a broken headstock)
But why waste a decent headless system on a Precision?
23. After seven years with my ceilidh band (my audition consisted of a gig, having never heard the music before or tried to play it), I still busk it, while having certain fills etc that I've worked out for particular tunes. As long as we make less cock-ups than the dancers, we're ahead on points... It's actually taught me quite a lot about music generally.
