1.
I think some manufacturers quote a burst or "program" RMS (which is usually about 2x continuous RMS) and then quote peak as the peak-to-peak of that burst capability, thus their "peak" rating is around x4 their continuous RMS.
The burst type rating used to be called (possibly still is) "music power" in hi-fi systems, and, as you say, was generally double the constant rating, and it was generally "peak music power" therefore four times the constant RMS rating. There's some "measurement" called PMPO that can be found on some Ebay auctions for PC speakers. As 200W PMPO is apparently 4W RMS, that's quite a conversion factor.
 2.
ACG do fairly trad looking Fender shapes?
The closest is the J-type: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/basses/j-type/
 3.
I'd give the guy the benefit of the doubt and think he's put Warwick as the brand as the bass doesn't have an obvious brand name and it does ask you for a brand name when posting the ad. The bag is Warwick so I think that's why he's done it.
You do have the option of not putting anything in there. I do agree he's specifically stated that he doesn't know the brand in the wording, but there's something of the subliminal about where it is.
 4. I'm currently training a bunch of Indians to do my job so I can be made redundant, so music provides a bit of solace.
 5.
Back when I had a Warwick which could be waxed I generally done that once every fortnight or so but it was mainly just because I enjoyed doing it.
It's that lemony smell, isn't it?
 6. We rehearse for two hours a week and I practice a bit at home, mainly when learning new material. As we've got a surfeit of songs, some don't get played for a few gigs, so those get brushed up at rehearsal.
 7.
why?
Because no-one apart from the Beatles and the Stones have ever produced any music at all ever. Apparently.
 8. If you look in the "Item specifics" section, you'll see that the brand is given as "Warwick". Reported as a counterfeit.
 9.
tauzero is correct on most things but 1.414 is the peak (not peak to peak) of RMS. However if you are working peak power then it is twice RMS as both the voltage and current peaks are 1.414 time the voltage and current of RMS. So. 500 Watts RMS is 1000 Watts peak.
I thought that's what I said: "the peak-to-peak voltage of a sine wave is 1.414 times its RMS value, hence its peak-to-peak power is twice its RMS power" Power = V^2 / R
 10. The GK Neo II 1x12 would be worth a listen - they're about £200 each second-hand though you might want to save up for a second one.
 11. A picture is indeed worth a thousand words. If only there was an inline version of http://www.canford.co.uk/NEUTRIK-LONGFRAME-JACKS (which there isn't, I thought I'd just clarify that I wasn't being sarcastic).
 12.
The Neutrik Rean NYS236 plus a short patch lead is the best solution. The end of that adapter fits beautifully and lets the transmitter jack close completely flush. If I could find an inline jack socket that fitted as well as that does then a made up patch cable might be viable but I've had no luck so far.
Would http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/14269-pro-signal-psg02791-6-35mm-jack-socket-line-mono.html fit the bill?
 13. How about http://www.rschrome.co.uk/ ?
 14. I performed surgery on the filling in the lid with mine. Is that an option for your case?
 15. Something I'd forgotten: paint. I can't stand painted basses. They've got to be a nice natural wood, preferably something interesting.
 16. As a temporary expedient, you might be able to thread a washer onto the string to keep it in place.
 17. "Animals" - you've heard the music, now eat the stars.
 18.
To all younger rock musicians; If your standing on stage singing and playing an electric guitar. You're influenced by The Beatles. Case closed.
That's your mind that's closed, not the case.
 19.
I use to be concerned about those things, Now the only thing I might bring up would be "Why are bookings weak in December?" Song choice ,image those things don't concern me. I'm in a band to perform and make as much $$ as possible.
I was in a club band for those reasons. Now I'm not and I don't have to play "Red red f***ing whine" any more.
 20. "Really nice shape"?
 21. Don't forget the tympani if you want a cup of tea.
 22. Although I am disinclined to think of DJs as musicians, you could draw an analogy with artists who produce collages. Just because the components of their work weren't originated by them doesn't mean that they're not artists. So I think I shall find a nice wide comfy bit of fence to sit on.

 24.
As far as I'm concerned you can either cover the gig or you can't. If you can't you need to take steps that make sure you can do what you need to do, If that is making sure you have access to kit or can borrow it, then that is down to you. Personally I wouldn't take the chance of someone not lending me any kit..so i'd arrange that before hand.
I think it's also far more polite to sort it out in advance than to turn up and ask. Drummers need to as not every one will have the same idea of "breakables" and some won't want their stands adjusted to other people's requirements.
 25.
We might even be able to find a holy grail bass that whilst not everyone will love it - it would be a bass that we would all consider and not discount for the reasons above!
There will now be at least ten replies saying "A Precision".
