1. Check the contact between the battery and battery clips. Presuming that the jack socket is a stereo one used for switching, make sure that the ring and sleeve contacts get shorted together when the lead is inserted. Make sure you're using a mono lead. I'd also go over all the solder joints on the PCB. Makes me wonder if it stopped due to a problem with a bad contact or bad joint, changing the battery the first time dislodged things enough for the contact to be made, hence it starting to work, then more recently the battery change wasn't sufficient to dislodge it or the joint/contact has oxidised further.
 2.
Tries to make Laverda joke, fails, but notices nod to the meanest triple ever built.
Don't forget that famous Welsh motorcycle company Benethli.
 3.
I used to say DEW-KATTY. Still do!
You are Steve Berry and I claim my £5.
 4.
It gets confusing round here because Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire all join together just down the road at No Mans Heath - the pub (now an Indian Restaraunt) is on three levels to reflect the county boundaries it's built on.
Um, and Derbyshire. That's why the pub is called the Four Counties. An inhabitant (of the village, not the pub) told me that the reason for the name was that in the far-off days of highwaymen (before they started running banks), the village wasn't actually in any of the four counties, and so highwaymen would head there as none of the constabularies attached to the counties had jurisdiction there.
 5.
Not far from where I live, theres Warton, Pronounced Waaarton by the locals, and Wilnecote, which is Wincutt. mah duck.
Actually, Wilnecote gets pronounced at least three different ways by people who live there. I favour Wincut meself, but there's the Willun Coat and Wilny Coat schools of thought. At least Tamuff itself is a pretty standard pronunciation. Dunno why icastle is so bothered by Scotlandshire, coming as he does from Lie Sester Shire.
 6.
Get yourself a decent playing bass, a bad bass is enough to put anyone off 6 strings for life.
He has, he's bought a Peavey Grind 6. It's difficult to find an easier-playing 6.
 7.
Been using them myself for as long as I can remember. I do love the look of them, but I also like the fact they're tidier & not a tangled mess.
Once you've untangled them in the first place, of course.
 8.
I msged him too to tell him what it was (wasn't) he said 'ive changed the listing to reflect this' oh well at least no-one on here will be getting ripped off!
Listing is unchanged.
 9. The auction mentions a replacement neck. So it's possibly a Tokai body and Vintage neck.
 10. IIRC, Status licensed Washburn to produce all-wood headless clones of the graphite-necked headless Status, which was then called the Washburn Status 1000.
 11.
Yes, it is Dik Guru! You know him, then?
Yes indeed. Mrs Zero and I have played at a few open mic nights where Dik's also played. Say hello from Second Time Round from us...
 12.
Freezing cold outside and somewhat draughty in the pub. Plus a feeling of resentment amongst the few punters that were there, due to the fact that one of their friends had apparently been barred. Not very good as an atmosphere for the hilarious comedy songs to which Dik and I were going to treat them.!
Is that Dik Guru by any chance? Although I'm sure there's several comedy Dicks in the Birmingham area...
 13.
Okay, So there's a nice thing to wake up to I guess, I finally figured out a way to post some pics.
Not convinced about the age of it, I reckon it needs a good relic job on it to look like a real '62.
 14.
setting a post limit will only mean they post drivel before advertising
As opposed to those of us who post drivel after advertising? On the whole, I'm inclined to keep it as it is.
 15.
That's about the top and bottom of it. The most expensive things I've ever bought are houses, and never ever have I met or spoken to the seller!
True, but OTOH houses are normally collection only. Most of the issues with buying and selling basses involve a degree of physical disconnection.
 16.
'Jedson' Les Paul - I don't recall Jedson ever making anything as nice as this so it might be something more interesting. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c63735f9d
There have been a few upgrade bits fitted - in fact, from his description I'd say it wasn't a Jedson because the original bridge and tailpiece were the more primitive string'n'toastrack and a bit of wood.

 18.
They say that the denser the wood, the brighter the tone - makes sense to me. People tend to say that a maple board is brighter sounding than a rosewood one, even though I'm quite certain that maple is softer/less dense than rosewood. Why is this?
Because mucky strings show up more on a maple fretboard, so people change them earlier than if they're using a rosewood fretboard.
 19. This breadboard is at the wrong gig.
 20. I'd lay odds that would be a better bass than my old genuine Fender P fretless.
 21.
But this one is pre-CBS! http://www.ebay.co.u...=item41630f23e8
"Any questions, please ask!" Wonder if that includes "Why did you do this?".
 22. Just received a set of Orla pedals from Martin who has been great with his help. And the price was right! Many thanks.
 23. As it looks like the gear's sorted, I'll add to the mention of whiteboard another handy thing to have in a studio - guitar hangers. Just the two-slopey-prongs sort screwed into the wall, save propping your pride and joy up precariously somewhere while you have a pee/get a drink/write on the whiteboard. Oh, and a rackmount tuner stuck in the wall.
 24. The EAD is an excellent 2x12. There's also a Tech Soundsystems ND212 for sale in the second-hand section at the moment which would be well worth a look, very good sound and nice and light.
 25. It's a guitart. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Overwater-Handmade-5-String-Bass-Guitart-/220959928172
