Auction still has two days to run. Also, those dings on the neck look unusual - I wonder what happened?
He was just standing round with the bass waiting to play at a party after the Chisora-Klitschko fight when someone smacked him and the bass with a video tripod.

I've got the fretless 5 - comfortable to play and a good sound.

£561. That's almost exactly ten times what I thought it might be worth (looks like it could be a nice bit of wood under the Ronseal).

CRATE CPB150 POWER BLOCK: 150W Amplifier: ***SOLD***
tauzero replied to Earbrass's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
You can bypass the "speaker emulation" circuit with a stereo jack to twin phono adaptor and single phono to twin phono lead like this: You may have to experiment to make sure you've plugged the mono plug into the right socket (you have a 50-50 chance of being right first time). Great little amp, mine acts as a monitor amp for the PA (just using the power amp part). -
This has stuck in my mind! Do you still have the Antoniotsai? Just curious! Did the quality seem good? I mean Andrews gigged it so i'd assume it's definately solid (i'd assume or he's a trooper!) and I'd REALLY fancy a fretless 6 string HK as a summer learning project!
I still have the Tsai 7-string - it's rather more Ritter-looking than the HK one. The HK seems good quality from a brief inspection. You're a little limited on 6-string options with them though. If you're looking for a 6-string fretless, it might also be worth looking at the project ones on ebay for under £200 - through-neck, screw them together yourself. Just search for "fretless project". I'd be tempted, except that I'm more a five-string man.

I'd like to see this too.
Opions of the 7 string HK? SO tempted to pull the trigger on one! (even though i'm saving, and it could be balls (apprently consistancy isn't 100% even though i'm 100% sure rich could turn it into something stunning!) ) And Mr Zeros inlay dragon bass is AWESOME. Love Inlays like that!
The 7-string HK has a very similar neck to my 7-string Antoniotsai - very shallow, hence very playable. I couldn't actually play it as my hands work the right way round, but if I was looking for another 7-string, I'd certainly look at an HK. In fact, I'm vaguely tempted to get one of their five-string fretleseeseseses. I bought that bass on something of a whim, to be honest. Then, when I got it, I found it was the best neck (for me) I'd encountered on a five-string. Since then, the only neck which have played and think could be better than it is the Wood&Tronics - one of Heath's Ruach basses might also fit the bill but didn't have strings on it when I encountered it.
I think 16 Ohm would be quite nice. Easy on my amp. Still ponderin'... a ruminatin', comtemplatin' and generally ditherin' and hestitatin' on taking the idea to it's logical conclusionin'
Get one of the Ashdown digital amps with a dual power amp (eg. the LG1000) and connect the speakers up as two 4x10 8ohm speakers, with separate speaker jacks.

What kinda band was this guy in...to make this?? :)
Maltese cross has 8 points: This sort of cross is a cross pattée, as per the Queen's headgear and such.
Yes, that's why I said it was a sort of cross with the Iron Cross, which is blunt-ended but curvy-sided. In fact the Wikipedia entry shows this cross and refers to it as a variant of the Maltese Cross. -

It's a sort of, er, cross between a Maltese and an Iron Cross, innit? -
Terrible. Bolt-on necks are so last millennium. The only way is through.
I'm supposing these could be rewired to be 8Ω Am I right?
Ye canna change the laws of physics. An 8x10 at 4 ohms will be 8 8 ohm speakers wired up so that there are in effect two sets of four speakers. Each set will be four speakers in parallel and the two sets will be in series (or the equivalent). It would be possible to wire them so you could get one ohm, 4 ohms, or 16 ohms, with each speaker equally loaded. You could wire it up to give you about 9.5 ohms (two sets of three in parallel, one set of two in parallel, all in series) but you'd be loading the speakers a bit unevenly.

In fully working order too, unlike half the Ampegs in the local rehearsal studio.
to me it appears to be still available?!? (unless you called the seller and were told it's gone, that is)
I emailed him, by which time it was gone. -
Tanglewood Overwater, slightly dodgy listing

I've had a play on a couple (at last year's Moffat bash, in the presence of Mr May) and I was impressed. -

Unfortunately it's gone. Was going to take a slight detour on the way to Moffat to have a look. -
From the "Room places" page: The B&B's will have a copy of this plan so just turn up and give them your name... This page will be updated nearer the time with the room plan I hate to seem churlish, but I think it would be difficult to get much nearer the time than this... Or do we just get the details from the bald bloke in the Balmoral?

fenders are so dreadfully boring, it would have to be a Fodera. Although they're a bit boring too, so it would have to be a custom special witha great big top horn (Flamboyant/Marseer/Roya). And spikes. And one of those scratchboards with a Mexican bandit on.
Crying about something like an 'overpriced' guitar is pointless and self-indulgent unless there is an alternative.
Don't you mean "unless there is no alternative"? We're not forced to buy Foderas et [W]al, the market is brimming over with basses at all price points. We do have the option to point at people with fretless Foderas and laught because they've paid an extra $500 for Fodera not to put any frets in, or ask whether a Ritter bass has a secure enough neck joint. And if we want a luthier built bass, as the OP says, we can go to a luthier and get one made for a fair bit less than a Fodera would cost.

A bit like the word "Squier" being on the headstock of every [s]Squire[/s] Squier. -
Hi Heath, glad to see you on here. You might want to post in the Affiliates Market, that would be the best place. And you make jolly nice basses (for those as don't look in the ebay links, I've played one of Heath's Ruachs and it is a high quality instrument).
Oh? Whats that tuned?
With patience. Might bring my 7-string up too seeing as there appears to be a lot of 7-string love going on.

Having contacted the seller (after missing seeing the auction in the first place) and going and having a play on it, this is a very high quality bass. Nice sound, with lots of control (vol, blend, treble, bass boost, mid with sweep, coil-tap switch) but the neck was just a bit too chunk for me. I think it's a similar sort of chunkiness to a Spector (but I haven't played one of them for a little while).
