1. Mike just bought an EA iAmp800 from me. He dropped in to pick it up and we had a pleasant time chatting. Good to do business with.
2. Do I sound like I'm obsessed with breadcrumb arrows? They're still gone.
3. Came into work today and found the unread posts buttons and breadcrumb arrows aren't showing again. Tried F5, Ctrl-F5, reboot, and clearing cache, all to no avail (Firefox 17, Win XP). Is it just me?
4. I started on guitar, decided to take up the bass duties in my then band as the other guitarist was probably better than me, then when I moved to Tamworth went looking for a band as either guitarist or bassist. Bassists being rarer, that's where I finished up. I still play guitar, and use guitar to write songs (so I have to start working out bass lines for my own songs after telling the guitarist what to play).
5. Either you can go onto That Ebay and buy a Markbass 102P traveller for £429 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Markbass-trv102p-bass-cab-/130806301249 or you can go to GAK and buy it brand new for £421... http://www.gak.co.uk/en/mark-bass-traveler-102-8ohm/17805
6. The power supply may run two separate lines to the preamp and to the power board. It would be worth checking that you have a supply to the power amp before replacing anything in the amp module.
7. And the arrows on the breadcrumb trail are also back - not that they're of any great significance of themselves, but they do seem to be associated with the "view next post" buttons and presumably generated in the same chunk of code.
8. Count me as another one who prefers the old marketplace - partly because the marketplace is part of the forum, while the classifieds section is outside it. I'm not particularly happy with the case adjustment on the advert headings - I just put up an advert for an EA iAmp800 in SKB rack case, and, presumably parsing the first two letters as both upper-case and assuming I'm an imbecile who posts everything in upper-case, the software has reset the whole lot into "I'm An Imbecile Who Posts In Upper Case But This Is Less Shouty" case. EA iAmp800 in SKB rack case - good Ea Iamp800 In Skb Rack Case - bad I notice that there's a PRS (sorry, Prs) seller who's suffered the same.
9. Right, finally finished it and got organised enough to be ready to pass it on.
10. Through-neck passive bass by Peavey, probably made in Vietnam. There's not an awful lot of information about them out there. Two soapbar pickups each with volume and tone control, laminated neck (I suspect maple and mahogany), body has darker facing wood (my research brings up the possibility that this is koa) and a contrasting light-coloured core wood. Were it not for the fact that the neck's a bit deeper than I like, I'd be keeping this. I've bought a Peavey Grind as back-up to replace this - I prefer the neck but the general quality of the older Zephyr seems higher. Dimensions - Scale: 34" Bridge string spacing: 16 mm Neck width (nut): 1.75" Neck width (12th fret): 2.25" Neck depth (top of 1st fret to back of neck): 22 mm Neck depth (top of 12th fret to back of neck): 25.5 mm I've used this in the studio for a few tracks which can be heard here: http://www.mixedherbsband.co.uk/songs.html I used this rather than the active bass I also took in because in the studio control room the active bass picked up some interference which the Peavey didn't. There's a couple of small dinks on it, nothing of any significance. Looking for £275 plus shipping.
11. "Distressed"? I'd have described it as "suicidal".
12. If you go for separates rather than a combo, you have the option to go for a lightweight cab now and then get a lighter amp some way down the line. You're not tied in to changing both amp and speakers at the same time. Plus you have flexibility in the combination, eg. you could have a Genz Benz amp and Tecamp cab.
13. And a bumpsadaisy
14.
Someone got a bargain for £1200
Not even that much, £1120. The buyer might need new suspension after taking that lot home though.
15.
The "go to first unread post" buttons have gone missing again...
And along with them the ">" markers in the breadcrumb trails, although at least we now have all the breadcrumb trail components back again.
16.
Buy this now! http://www.gak.co.uk...-210t-xb2/76743
69lb for a 2x10? Do they use double the thickness of depleted uranium that Trace Elliot use to line their cabs? Bargain if you can lift it.
17. Why do sellers constantly mis-advertise Squiers as Squires? Especially when it's written on the sodding headstock...
18.
This is amusing. Inflated ego meets troll.
Which is which?
19. There's someone posting in items wanted for a Tecamp combo and you've got at least two people interested in the 2x12...
20.
I don't really see that a 5 string is wholly necessary and I think, I you want to play a 6 string bass, then you seriously ought to consider being a guitarist. Not my cup of tea either, but I know that a lot of people swear by them - and they possibly play styles of music that they will argue require those devices.
Oh yes, I'd forgotten you were a Fender player.
21. What would your definition of a 12-string guitar be? And what is your definition of a 6-string bass?
22. For sale due to purchase of a Tecamp Puma: EA iAmp 800, black face. I think there are several variants of this amp - this has a level meter, both series and parallel effects loops, and a tuner out, but not a built in tuner (which I understand was in some versions). Manual is here: http://www.eaamps.co...P800_man_v8.pdf I bought this about a year ago and have gigged it a few times. It's been utterly reliable. It's installed in a shallow 2U SKB rack case which is a perfect fit, doesn't move around in the case. The rear lip does obstruct access to the lower of the two speakon connectors slightly, but this would be easily remedied by cutting away a little bit of ABS. As I just use one cab, I haven't bothered. The handy X-shaped recess in the top is excellent for stopping smallish things like specs and tuners falling off. Weight is about 10kg/22lbs with the rack case (uncased it would be 19lb). Looking for £400 plus shipping if necessary - collection from Tamworth (or possibly West Bromwich in work hours) welcome.
23. Yes it is.
24.
Talk about fake rickies take a look at this lot, we’d better tell the CEO about this it on evilbay Item number 230878499400 what a hoot. “Sound Cartel” wah whatever next.
It doesn't (from what I can gather from what's been posted on the subject by Those Who Know) infringe Rickenbacker's trademarks, as those are the headstock and Rickenbacker logo. As far as the general attitude to fakes is on here, read through a few of the threads on fake Fenders. There's quite a few members who know enough to be able to spot fakes (as in instruments where the seller is attempting to pass them off as Fenders, not just instruments that look like Fenders) and who will then report them to Ebay. There is also a degree of antipathy to RIC's extremely zealous trademark protection, which quite possibly goes beyond what they are entitled to do if what has been communicated about trademarks is the case and the whole case, as they pursue sellers who are selling instruments which they specifically state are copies, hence not attempting to pass them off as Rics at all.
25. Just bought some Graphtech bridge saddles and a Hexpander from Noah. All went perfectly smoothly.
