1. The auction mentions a replacement neck. So it's possibly a Tokai body and Vintage neck.
2. IIRC, Status licensed Washburn to produce all-wood headless clones of the graphite-necked headless Status, which was then called the Washburn Status 1000.
3.
Yes, it is Dik Guru! You know him, then?
Yes indeed. Mrs Zero and I have played at a few open mic nights where Dik's also played. Say hello from Second Time Round from us...
4.
Freezing cold outside and somewhat draughty in the pub. Plus a feeling of resentment amongst the few punters that were there, due to the fact that one of their friends had apparently been barred. Not very good as an atmosphere for the hilarious comedy songs to which Dik and I were going to treat them.!
Is that Dik Guru by any chance? Although I'm sure there's several comedy Dicks in the Birmingham area...
5.
Okay, So there's a nice thing to wake up to I guess, I finally figured out a way to post some pics.
Not convinced about the age of it, I reckon it needs a good relic job on it to look like a real '62.
6.
setting a post limit will only mean they post drivel before advertising
As opposed to those of us who post drivel after advertising? On the whole, I'm inclined to keep it as it is.
7.
That's about the top and bottom of it. The most expensive things I've ever bought are houses, and never ever have I met or spoken to the seller!
True, but OTOH houses are normally collection only. Most of the issues with buying and selling basses involve a degree of physical disconnection.
8.
'Jedson' Les Paul - I don't recall Jedson ever making anything as nice as this so it might be something more interesting. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c63735f9d
There have been a few upgrade bits fitted - in fact, from his description I'd say it wasn't a Jedson because the original bridge and tailpiece were the more primitive string'n'toastrack and a bit of wood.
9. Click on your username at the top right of the screen, click on "My Settings", and then select the signature option from the list on the left.
10.
They say that the denser the wood, the brighter the tone - makes sense to me. People tend to say that a maple board is brighter sounding than a rosewood one, even though I'm quite certain that maple is softer/less dense than rosewood. Why is this?
Because mucky strings show up more on a maple fretboard, so people change them earlier than if they're using a rosewood fretboard.
11. This breadboard is at the wrong gig.
12. I'd lay odds that would be a better bass than my old genuine Fender P fretless.
13.
But this one is pre-CBS! http://www.ebay.co.u...=item41630f23e8
"Any questions, please ask!" Wonder if that includes "Why did you do this?".
14. Just received a set of Orla pedals from Martin who has been great with his help. And the price was right! Many thanks.
15. As it looks like the gear's sorted, I'll add to the mention of whiteboard another handy thing to have in a studio - guitar hangers. Just the two-slopey-prongs sort screwed into the wall, save propping your pride and joy up precariously somewhere while you have a pee/get a drink/write on the whiteboard. Oh, and a rackmount tuner stuck in the wall.
16. The EAD is an excellent 2x12. There's also a Tech Soundsystems ND212 for sale in the second-hand section at the moment which would be well worth a look, very good sound and nice and light.
17. It's a guitart. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Overwater-Handmade-5-String-Bass-Guitart-/220959928172
18.
Auction still has two days to run. Also, those dings on the neck look unusual - I wonder what happened?
He was just standing round with the bass waiting to play at a party after the Chisora-Klitschko fight when someone smacked him and the bass with a video tripod.
19. I've got the fretless 5 - comfortable to play and a good sound.
20. Forum policy states you don't put your own auctions in the Ebay links subforum. Not that it seems to stop some.
21. £561. That's almost exactly ten times what I thought it might be worth (looks like it could be a nice bit of wood under the Ronseal).
22. Whereabouts in the country are you?
23. You can bypass the "speaker emulation" circuit with a stereo jack to twin phono adaptor and single phono to twin phono lead like this: You may have to experiment to make sure you've plugged the mono plug into the right socket (you have a 50-50 chance of being right first time). Great little amp, mine acts as a monitor amp for the PA (just using the power amp part).
24.
This has stuck in my mind! Do you still have the Antoniotsai? Just curious! Did the quality seem good? I mean Andrews gigged it so i'd assume it's definately solid (i'd assume or he's a trooper!) and I'd REALLY fancy a fretless 6 string HK as a summer learning project!
I still have the Tsai 7-string - it's rather more Ritter-looking than the HK one. The HK seems good quality from a brief inspection. You're a little limited on 6-string options with them though. If you're looking for a 6-string fretless, it might also be worth looking at the project ones on ebay for under £200 - through-neck, screw them together yourself. Just search for "fretless project". I'd be tempted, except that I'm more a five-string man.
25. I'd like to see this too.
