2.
Well as far as I can see, if I had a bass I wanted to sell, something worth around £1500, and I was made redundant and had to think about a new house, paying for the old house, my car, applying for new jobs and all that other stuff, if a couple of people offered me £1500 for the bass frankly I would take those offers and keep them in hand whilst I was sorting out other far more important things before evaluating how much I could justify selling the bass for and then reassess things at that point.
Would you also advertise the fact that you'd received a couple of offers for £1500?
 3.
I can't stand this obsession so many bassists have with SEEING THE WOOD!
Just look at how bloody awful painted Fenders look after about five minutes, with that special paint they use that wears out in milliseconds. It takes a lot of damage to make a wood finish bass look tatty.
 4.
I have 2 - one active, one passive. At a push I would buy a 5 string. Sorry, but I really can't see the point of having more than that...
You haven't quite got the hang of this, have you?
 5.
Great basses those were, first time I played a fretless as well. Preferred the Warwick because it had the lines, and the neck profile was great. I believe it was Tauzeros, and he had it reprofiled to the same as his Warwick JD Thumb.
Yes, it's the perfect 4-string neck profile for me.
 6.
I remember "Pop Tarts" being quite popular a few years ago
I think they still are, BassDirect Mark's still playing for them.
 7.

Those are three of the Tsais and the two Warwicks. Behind them are the "lightweight" DR250 with perched on it an Eden head and my Superfly.
 8.
This one is of me with a Jazz having my knob twiddled...oo err missus
That's me on the left, demonstrating that wearing black makes you look fat. Mrs Zero is visible in small portions behind me.
 9.
What do you do if you get a cut or blister on your picking hand?
Change fingers.
 10. I was a convert from guitar but have always felt more comfortable playing with fingers rather than a plectrum (I've always played both fingerstyle and with plectrums on guitars, which may have some bearing on this). There's just one song I currently use a plectrum on, and that's "Saw her standing there" as I just can't get the speed with fingers without the timing going a bit off. Used to either use a plectrum or an air plectrum for "Want to break free" too.
 11.
What would be the correct sequence to connect the following components? This is my current signal path but I'm not convinced it's the best way to do it: 1. Instrument 2. Multi-effects unit (input, stereo output, phones output) 3. DI box 4. Mixer (connected to drum machine and MP3 player) 5. Tuner 6. Combo (effects loop, tuner out, no headphone socket)
You've got 1 and 6 in the right places, keep them where they are. Another vote from me for putting the tuner first, er, second - before the multiFX anyway. And after the instrument.
 12. I wondered why there weren't any Vigiers at the Notts bash. Looks like they'd all gone north for the winter.
 13.
U2? Absolutely diabolical. It was notoriously difficult to fly and land, with a very high stall speed and a need for extraordinary equipment balance, leading to many operational accidents within the first few months of its operation. Later versions have however addressed most of these early faults.
I have seen a suggestion that there was some sabotage to Gary Powers' U2 to make the altimeter underread, which meant he was flying low enough to be brought down.
 14.
I just got back from a gig where we got requested by some drunk punter to play 'With or Without You'... I laughed to myself, thought of this convo and politely declined
Funnily enough, that's one of the numbers I've just proposed that the covers band does. Bloody brilliant song.
 15. Someone has lost a cradle off a guitar stand - it was at the bottom of the stairs. I picked it up, but it's not off one of my stands. However, I have lost a cradle off one of my stands too which is presumably at the Grosvenor somewhere. So, has anyone discovered a bit of stand missing? Or did anyone else pick up a bit of stand?
tauzero, it was nice to meet you and mrs. tauzero again. I'm semi-pleased my bass has caused some GAS I apologise for causing it though.
Nice to see you again too. I think I'll be able to keep the GAS under control for a while, anyway. I just have to try and forget that Mark has a 5-string Spectrum in at Bass Direct (although not being able to afford it is one quite effective preventative measure). And I'm not at all unhappy with the Tsai, it's just that that W&T was the nicest 5-string I've played.
 16.
Really enjoyed it. Some lovely basses - but i know have GAS for a Ric!
It's a Wood & Tronics for me - loved playing that...
Thanks for organising it Sam. Looking forward to the next one!
Seconded. I think I'll bring a lightweight combo next time though.
 17. The sound seemed OK to me but definitely could have been better. Can't remember now how it seemed deficient. But I don't think the WAV-4 sounded any better until I put the Helicores on.
 18. Some time ago, Palatino came up with the VE-500, which, like the Stagg, is an endpin-equipped slimline EUB with a sticky-out bit to hang your washing on. I bought one some time back to replace my BSX father-of-Flip bass, but replaced it in turn with an NS WAV-4, mainly for convenience sake - Palatinos don't balance unaided on their end-pins and when doing a ceilidh, there's fair-sized gaps between playing while Mrs Zero directs her victims on how they are to do the next dance. It was also pretty heavy, considerably more than the NS. Harley-Benton are now doing the Palatino, and they're on Thomann for a few quid less than the Stagg. For that price, they're well worth considering. Looks like they've rocketed ahead of the Stagg in terms of sales from Thomann.
 19. If you could live without the Amp Out, it's simple and can be accomplished with indicators for all three switches by using a pack of these 3 pole double throw footswitch, three-pack and if that's expired, searching ebay for "footswitch 3" will do it. The circuit is easy enough, in each case you use two poles of the switch for the switching function and one pole for the indicator.
 20.
Why can none of you married players seemingly ever put your foot down?
Because I don't like hospital food. Careful negotiation and the odd purchase which required forgiveness have seen my collection get up to eleven.

 22. I use a WAV-4 which I've equipped with a set of Helicore Hybrids (second-hand off That Ebay) which is an improvement. I use it through a Korg AX3000B into a Hartke kickback and the PA - the Hartke is so that I have the same on-stage volume as the acoustic instruments round me. I use the AX3000B to put some short but fairly thick reverb onto the sound, which gives more of an acoustic upright effect - after all, an EUB doesn't have a big echoey box attached to it. I also cheat and use the Slow Gear type effect to give a bowing sound (must get round to trying arco, but I was pretty crap at it in my violin-playing days). If money was no object, I'd have a CR-5M. But it is, so I won't.

I usually get into double figures...
That's vet students for you... Dammit, why wasn't the Bass Gallery there when I was idling away the days in the Royal Vet College before dropping out?
