  1. I've got short fingers and if I'm playing a walking bass line, I use one finger per fret wherever I'm playing. I think that's the only time though, mostly I use 1, 2, 3 or 1, 2, 4 over three frets.
  2. Sorry, it's the SUB 5. So many different SBMM/EBMM basses, it's like they were Precisions...
  3. When I did Robot Wars I wasn't sure whether to approach him or not - being as I'm rather shy and he was sat in a corner reading the paper, I decided against it. Philippa Forrester was much more approachable in Techno Games.
  4. It goes pretty loud. I used it with a Tecamp Puma 900 and it held its own quite happily against two guitarists and a drummer. Vertical treble dispersion is good, IIRC that was one of the design objectives.
  5. The thread, yes. BC in general, bassists are mostly angels with the odd exception:
  6. That's going to work out expensive when she wants her own W&T - not many basses with a neck as nice as them.
  7. In fairness, when the plans came out, LFSys didn't exist, and a Barefaced 1x12 with a bit more power handling would be about three times the price of putting one together. I really think that somebody should buy mine.
  8. You'll generally only have three leads to worry about - ground, battery negative, and signal. As long as ground and negative aren't connected together, and signal goes to tip, you're OK. The issue of which of the other two goes to ring and to sleeve is generally not relevant except if you're using one of the Boss wirelesses which have stereo plugs and charge through the plugs, as they expect (IIRC) ground to be sleeve and battery negative to be ring.
  9. That stirred me into walking across the room and looking in the soundhole of mine, which turns out to be a DE6 - looks identical to the DE7. A quick bit of research shows that mine has a spruce top and the DE7 has a cedar top.
  10. I've got the same long thin one on my Stomp. The other one is an adaptor for European two-pin plug type power supplies which finishes up as a bulky awkward mess. The long thin one with the adaptor plate isn't ideal but it's far, far better than the two-pin adaptor.

Might be worth doing a factory reset first. There are various options: https://line6.com/support/topic/35415-how-to-do-a-factory-reset/?do=findComment&comment=321227 Footswitches 6 and 12 will force it into update mode, then use the updater to, er, update it.
  12. And all my jack-jack speaker cables are 2-core flexible mains cable.
  13. 8 ohm cab? Power = I^2 * R, substituting known values 200 = I^2 * 8 (assuming it's an 8 ohm cab) so I^2 = 12.5, so the current is about 3.5A.
  14. SBMM Ray5/Ray25/Ray35 - shallow neck, 16mm spacing.
  15. I always use gig bags these days so my numerous Hiscox cases are in the loft, now waiting for the prices to start going up... Very good cases. A former band went to Munich three times to gig, my bass went in a Sleazyjet hold in a Hiscox case and was completely untroubled by the experience.
  16. Although the DoI thread may visit you. Beware.
  17. Fist wound strings? Is this some strange sexual practice?
  18. I had something similar - recruited to a band, after a few gigs they said no rehearsal this week, then next week the same, then the rhythm guitarist messaged me and told me that the lead guitarist and drummer (brothers) had a mate who wanted to play bass in the band as it was getting some work in, so they'd been rehearsing with him. Rhythm guitarist and singer weren't entirely pleased that it was being kept from me, hence him contacting me. In the end I finished up in another more successful band, which was nice, and put it far enough behind me that I depped for them a few years ago. More recently they asked me to do a dep and to rejoin, but over the intervening period I'd realised that they were a bunch of racist bastards and that would have been a bit problematic for a woke leftie like me, so I turned them down gracefully.
  19. I'm not fond of the locking jacks - I find it awkward to unlock them, especially when using a wireless dongle. I remove the locking mechanism and leave the rest intact. Fully agreed about the 1/4" jack on a plate, that's what my Sei headlesses have.
  20. They've just left, should be with you soon. I know what you mean about the money, fortunately there's a Nigerian prince who's going to sub me.
  21. When replacing the barrel jack, extend the leads if necessary (heatshrink on the joints, of course) so that you can pull them through the jack socket hole and solder outside the control cavity rather than fiddling around inside it. Note: don't forget to thread the leads through the nut inside the control cavity before passing them out. Barrel jacks are a consumable item.
  22. An entirely deliberate one, in contrast to motorcycle troubleshooting - if it seems like a fuel problem it's electrical, and if it seems electrical then it's a fuel problem.
  23. I use a Tecamp Puma 900 with my GR Bass AT212.
  24. I have a Nux Mighty Plug Amateur and a gen 1 Boss Katana:Go. I think the Boss has better sound quality, and it has a built-in tuner which is useful. The Nux isn't bad though. Both are good for practice as long as you don't mind having headphone leads tangling round you - it's a definite step up in cost to go wireless with the Positive Grid Spark NEO and a massive step up in cost to the Boss Waza Air.
