I was a convert from guitar but have always felt more comfortable playing with fingers rather than a plectrum (I've always played both fingerstyle and with plectrums on guitars, which may have some bearing on this). There's just one song I currently use a plectrum on, and that's "Saw her standing there" as I just can't get the speed with fingers without the timing going a bit off. Used to either use a plectrum or an air plectrum for "Want to break free" too.

Someone has lost a cradle off a guitar stand - it was at the bottom of the stairs. I picked it up, but it's not off one of my stands. However, I have lost a cradle off one of my stands too which is presumably at the Grosvenor somewhere. So, has anyone discovered a bit of stand missing? Or did anyone else pick up a bit of stand? I just have to try and forget that Mark has a 5-string Spectrum in at Bass Direct (although not being able to afford it is one quite effective preventative measure). And I'm not at all unhappy with the Tsai, it's just that that W&T was the nicest 5-string I've played.

The sound seemed OK to me but definitely could have been better. Can't remember now how it seemed deficient. But I don't think the WAV-4 sounded any better until I put the Helicores on.

Some time ago, Palatino came up with the VE-500, which, like the Stagg, is an endpin-equipped slimline EUB with a sticky-out bit to hang your washing on. I bought one some time back to replace my BSX father-of-Flip bass, but replaced it in turn with an NS WAV-4, mainly for convenience sake - Palatinos don't balance unaided on their end-pins and when doing a ceilidh, there's fair-sized gaps between playing while Mrs Zero directs her victims on how they are to do the next dance. It was also pretty heavy, considerably more than the NS. Harley-Benton are now doing the Palatino, and they're on Thomann for a few quid less than the Stagg. For that price, they're well worth considering. Looks like they've rocketed ahead of the Stagg in terms of sales from Thomann.

If you could live without the Amp Out, it's simple and can be accomplished with indicators for all three switches by using a pack of these [url="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220332607737"]3 pole double throw footswitch, three-pack[/url] and if that's expired, searching ebay for "footswitch 3" will do it. The circuit is easy enough, in each case you use two poles of the switch for the switching function and one pole for the indicator.
