Thomann premium gigbag - bought a bass-sized one a month or so ago to replace a rather inadequate Rockbass gigbag, after having had a guitar-sized one for quite a few years for a headless bass (as mentioned above, the twin strap buttons eventually wore through it as they were outside the reinforced area). As mentioned above somewhere, there's a big pocket, a little pocket, and a long thin pocket on it. The biggest pocket happily takes A4 sized paper, the little pocket in front of it takes a fabric strap, and the long thin pocket takes a MS-60B and mains power supply, a capo, some allen keys, and there's still room for a small cuddly toy.

That's what I've got - Technics amp and a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 220 speakers for the downstairs PC, Marantz amp and a pair of Kefs for upstairs.

I've had both small combos and head/cab. For your needs you could try a Gallien-Krueger combo, either the MB150 or the 200MB which preceded it. I've used one with a 5-string and it was fine, and double bass players like them.

I use https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/wifi-router/tl-wr902ac/ - very small and light, has been reliable so far. I use the XR18 naked so I keep meaning to put some velcro on it to hold it to the top.

Warwick necks vary enormously through the years. Do you prefer thick or thin necks? PS: Another vote for Bass Direct, about 35 miles from Leicester. Bass Bros, about two miles from them, has rather more limited stock but would be worth visiting - you need to make an appointment though, unlike Bass Direct that you can just drop in on.

I use Alto TS408s for vocals (and, in one emergency, bass), and they're fine.

Yes, I think that's where I got the name from too, but he doesn't list it among his (considerable) credentials. Edit: Just to clarify, I think it's the answer but was just looking for confirmation.

Even stranger, I just tried using PuTTY (v0.81) from my laptop (I'd been using it on my Windows 10 machine which is the one in the office with a spare accessible HDMI screen that I'd used to set up the Pi in the first place) and it worked fine. I need a drink.

I've been watching all the episodes of Taggart since the start as part of my "things to do now you're retired" list. In the first 15 series, the incidental music features a masterfully played fretless bass which is the primary mood setter (much as the sax does in A Touch of Frost). Subsequent series have done away with that and the incidental music isn't focussed on any one instrument. I did try to find out who had played bass for those earlier series - it seems it may have been Trevor Barry but I'm not sure. Does anyone happen to know?

I've not encountered this in 20 years or so of using PuTTY. I've also got a KVM with a couple of spare ports, which is what the Pi is currently living on. Next stage is going to be to re-burn the OS to the SD card and go round again - at least it's just plug and play (the audio card is automatically detected in a script), I hate it when you go through an hour or two of rigmarole and then have to start all over again. OTOH, I imagine that I'd get exactly the same thing going via wifi.
