  1. I had the passive version, the Grind BXP, both five and six strings. They were the Gen 1 models with a scooped out area on the front of the lower horn. I tried out a USA Cirrus and preferred the neck on the Grind (that saved a lot of money).
  2. I hadn't realised nobody had, possibly because he was getting a lot of mentions on another thread or two. Yes, he's an absolute star.
  3. I trust it's a limited edition. You wouldn't want any old Tom, Dick, or Harry having one.
  4. Mine go in my little gig handbag (along with an MS-60B, rechargeable batteries, A-B box, short leads, capo, that sort of thing). After use they go in my pocket, whence they are put on charge, and then returned to the handbag. Same goes for rechargeables, once discharged they go into a pocket and then into the charger when I get home.
  5. You'll need to establish the centre of gravity of the bass as that will need to be within the triangle of the stand feet, when viewed directly from above. The orientation of the bass relative to those three feet may also be significant, but as I haven't any experience with such a stand, I wouldn't like to speculate how - it would be something to consider when experimenting.
  6. Has anyone mentioned Glenn Fricker of Spectre Sound Studios yet? It's about music production and recording rather than the musical content itself, and the focus is metal (which I don't do), and his presentation will definitely not be everyone's cup of tea, but I find him both amusing and informative.
  7. Just cut the headstock off and get some Guyker headless gear. Even better for weight distribution.
  8. There was one sold on here three or four years ago. I was tempted but it was 32" and I'd rather have all my fretlesses the same scale length. Aha: I wondered about a Basslab one (twin 5-string) but the neck appears to be rather too chunky for me, from Basslab's own description.
  9. We have two songs for the encore but the second one is Twist and Shout/La Bamba which we just keep going with until we've worn them out or we get sick of it.
  10. If there's two volume pots in the circuitry, put a resistor of half the value (120k or 240k) between signal and ground. You're answering a question that wasn't asked.
  11. Doesn't stop them standing up and dancing when I'm playing. Why explain? No explanation has ever been necessary at any of the gigs I've played in the last 20+ years.
  12. Variable neck profile - the neck skeleton would be a t-shaped aluminium extrusion, and then interchangeable wooden neck undersides would be affixed to that.
  13. Is three or four years old "practically new"? There's such a wide range that there could be a variety of reasons. Didn't like headless, got a 5 and didn't get on with it, got a 6 and didn't get on with it, got a 4 and wanted a 5, didn't get on with multiscale, wanted multiscale, upgraded from 10 series to 15 series, gave up bass, needed to pay a bill. Ibanez might welcome your research on the subject.
  14. Why the obsession with flats on a fretless? Rounds on all of mine.
  15. I have heard Delilah rendered in 4/4. Not an experience I care to repeat, there was a certain fascination to it though.
  16. It sounds like a physical buzz. Is there a headphone output, and if so, can you hear the buzz on there? If not, could you take the effects send to something you can use headphones with and see if it still buzzes? Might just be a loose screw.
  17. Ah, the finger sander/power file. Good when you're trying to cut out a rectangle in a diecast Hammond type box for a 16x2 or 20x4 display. My third favourite power tool, after the angle grinder and pillar drill.
  18. I think you'll need to spin it into thread first, so you'll need to build a spinning wheel.
  19. David Bennett Piano - not for my non-existent keyboard skills, but his looks at chord progressions, time signatures, etc.
  20. A resistor of similar value to a 250k or 500k pot between signal and ground. 240k or 270k for a 250k, 470k or 510k for a 500k pot.
  21. Would a foam pad under the head to isolate it help?
  22. It was a shame that Ashdown didn't make their Superfly preamp/graphic EQ into a standalone pedal (I did suggest it to them but it fell on stony ground). Not only a programmable graphic EQ, but with the editor software you could use it as a 7 band parametric EQ.
  23. Judging by the stock levels in online shops, you must have got the last one in the country.
  24. The HX Effects has a current draw of up to 1100mA. Could you use a current doubler cable to get more than 900mA out of the power supply?
  25. Built-in wireless - preferably modular so it can be upgraded when quantum digital wireless comes along. Fretted/fretless operation by moving a lever: I'm sure there was a better video than this but I can't find it.
