Even with my penchant for headless 5-string active basses, preferably with through necks, there's a couple on FB marketplace for under £500. Respectable FSO passive 4-strings can easily be had for under £200.

I bought mine in 1988, Dave at Musical Exchange in Birmingham knocked £50 off the £950 asking price.

I haven't had any problems with Evri, or with the latter days of Herpes - it used to be that parcels would get slung over the gate. This may be partly due to lockdown followed by WFH followed by retirement meaning there's generally someone to answer the door, but when there isn't, they leave the parcel in a sensible place.

Anyone know of a media player with album shuffle, Windows 11
tauzero replied to Richard R's topic in General Discussion
VLC, I think. I haven't used the feature but you can create a playlist of albums and play them in random order. -
If the weight isn't a problem for you then you haven't got a problem. Just don't let other bassists pick it up.

Alternatives to Warwick/MEC concentric knobs?

Looks like the EV-5 will work - see second post here:

What I've done in the past in a similar situation is get an extension cable and a jack-jack cable the same length, and secure them together along their length, either with cable ties or by putting them both in braided sleeving. The wall-wart goes into the same 4-way as the amp, and the number of cables running around the floor is reduced. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=5.5+x+2.1+dc+extension+right+angle&_sacat=0&_odkw=5.5mm+x+2.1+mm+dc+extension+right+angle&_osacat=0

Alternatively, unsolder the wiper from the PCB and lift it out, and you have your break.

Don't reverse the polarity of the neutron flow.

Electronics question (probably stupid)
tauzero replied to StingRayBoy42's topic in Repairs and Technical
Yes, forget about the remote, you just need to modify the LS-2 to output R, G, and B signals at 5V to the terminal at the end of the LED strip. -

http://knobshop.com/Concentric-Aluminum-Knob-lined-black-anodized perhaps? Who'd have thought there was a shop just for knobs? -
A 1x10, a 1x12, a 2x10, a 1x15 and a 2x12 walked into a room!
tauzero replied to warwickhunt's topic in Amps and Cabs
Assuming C5 C4 C3 C2 C1 C5 - not a lot of bright top, probably tweeterless C4 - not much difference to C5 C3 - not quite as full in the bass, some amp buzz - active? C2 - more highs than C4 & C5, full bass too C1 - similar highs to C2, slightly fuller bass - best balanced of the cabs -
I have an XR12. I use a Nokia T20, and have an elderly Huawei 10" tablet as backup. At the last gig, I started losing connection with the 5.8GHz router I was using, so I switched to the XR12's internal wifi for the rest of the gig, which worked fine.

My guess is that the OP isn't going to be going to a jam night near you in the near future.

I have the other Lekato strap: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LEKATO-Adjustable-Acoustic-Electric-Included/dp/B088613TDF/ref=sr_1_5

That sounds a reasonable set of strings to use - scale length is about 4/5 the scale length of a standard guitar so tension using the topmost four strings would be rather slack, heavier strings (ie the lower strings) would bring the tension up. It pretty much corresponds to sticking a capo on fret 5 on a standard guitar and using the middle 4 strings, so it's whatever strings you'd feel comfortable with doing that with.

Open jam =/= open mic.
-
The MS60B allows you to cycle through patches with the footswitch. You can put as many patches on the list as you like.
-
What good will that do? A typical open mic may or may not have a bass amp, if there is one it's going to be something that the organiser doesn't mind having any old hack bassist thrashing through.
-
Yes, as long as I supervised them plugging in. It was easily loud enough to compete with the PA they were using. But as I was the only bassist, it didn't matter.
-
Not far from Hawes and the Wensleydale diary.

One of our guitarists won a Les Paul from there. He was a bit wary, but it turned up - very nice too, must have failed Gibson QC due to not having anything wrong with it.

The bridge position looks like it's straying close to MDP territory. -

I watched a bit of it. Did absolutely nothing for me, but that's the music rather than the performance.
